Occupational therapy practice and patient/client participation in religious occupations: a scoping review protocol
Review objective The objective of this scoping review is to identify and map information on how occupational therapists address their clients’ perceived and experienced barriers to participation in religious occupations as part of the occupational therapy intervention. Specifically the review questions are: i) What are the conceptual understandings of religious practice as an occupational need? ii) What assessments, interventions and outcome measures do occupational therapists use concerning their patients’/clients’ participation in religious occupations
Resumption of mass accretion in RS Oph
The latest outburst of the recurrent nova RS Oph occurred in 2006 February. Photometric data presented here show evidence of the resumption of optical flickering, indicating re-establishment of accretion by day 241 of the outburst. Magnitude variations of up to 0.32 mag in V band and 0.14 mag in B band on time-scales of 600–7000 s are detected. Over the two-week observational period, we also detect a 0.5 mag decline in the mean brightness, from V≈ 11.4 to 11.9, and record B≈ 12.9 mag. Limits on the mass accretion rate of [inline image] are calculated, which span the range of accretion rates modelled for direct wind accretion and Roche lobe overflow mechanisms. The current accretion rates make it difficult for thermonuclear runaway models to explain the observed recurrence interval, and this implies average accretion rates are typically higher than seen immediately post-outburst
Six months of mass outflow and inclined rings in the ejecta of V1494 Aql
V1494 Aql was a very fast nova which reached a visual maximum of mv≃ 4.0 by the end of 1999 December 3. We report observations from 4 to 284 d after discovery, including submillimetre- and centimetre-band fluxes, a single MERLIN image and optical spectroscopy in the 410 to 700 nm range. The extent of the radio continuum emission is consistent with a recent lower distance estimate of 1.6 kpc. We conclude that the optical and radio emission arises from the same expanding ejecta. We show that these observations are not consistent with simple kinematical spherical shell models used in the past to explain the rise and fall of the radio flux density in these objects. The resolved remnant structure is consistent with an inclined ring of enhanced density within the ejecta. Optical spectroscopy indicates likely continued mass ejection for over 195 d, with the material becoming optically thin in the visible sometime between 195 and 285 d after outburst
The onset of photoionization in Sakurai's Object (V4334 Sgr)
We investigate the reheating of the very late thermal pulse (VLTP) object
V4334 Sgr (Sakurai's Object) using radio observations from the Very Large
Array, and optical spectra obtained with the Very Large Telescope. We find a
sudden rise of the radio flux at 5 and 8 GHz - from <= 90 micro-Jy and 80 +/-
30 micro-Jy in February 2005 to 320 micro-Jy and 280 micro-Jy in June 2006.
Optical line emission is also evolving, but the emission lines are fading. The
optical line emission and early radio flux are attributed to a fast shock (and
not photoionization as was reported earlier) which occurred around 1998. The
fading is due to post-shock cooling and recombination. The recent rapid
increase in radio flux is evidence for the onset of photoionization of carbon
starting around 2005. The current results indicate an increase in the stellar
temperature to 12 kK in 2006. The mass ejected in the VLTP eruption is M_ej >=
1e-4 Msol, but could be as high as 1e-2 Msol, depending mainly on the distance
and the clumping factor of the outflow. We derive a distance between 1.8 and 5
kpc. A high mass loss could expose the helium layer and yield abundances
compatible with those of [WC] and PG1159 stars.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures; accepted for publication in A&A letter

Conceiving, designing, implementing and operating an EDI engineering employability learning toolkit to aid graduate employment
Society 5.0 strives to achieve UNESCO Sustainability Goals, addressing world wide society inequalities. However, both AI-driven and traditional recruitment systems have historically perpetuated biases that have resulted in the underrepresentation of women and GLOBAL MAJORITY individuals in the engineering industry. In response, Canterbury Christ Church University has established a new equality, diversity, and inclusive (EDI) engineering, design, and technology education provision and adopted CDIO framework. The engineering programmes seek to create an industry-ready stickable talent pipeline that addresses regional and international skills gaps. Therefore, develop engineers capabilities and competence and practice for in the workplace in developing EDI engineered solutions and EDI in their practice with colleagues. Consequently, there is a pressing need for an Employability (EL) Learning Toolkit with a focus on EDI; that supports engineering talent to develop their EDI in practice with colleagues; assist them in securing meaningful employment; educates the next generation of engineering recruiters in recruiting EDI talent to the workforce. This paper presents the findings of a quantitative research study conducted on employers' perceptions of the recruitment and employment process for graduates. The objective of this research is to inform the conception, design, implementation, and operation of a prototype Employability Learning Toolkit with an EDI engineering focus. This toolkit aims to build upon the previous research and development of the Canterbury Christ Church University's Future 360 initiative, demonstrating the university's dedication to fostering inclusivity in the engineering sector
A dense disk of dust around the born-again Sakurai's object
In 1996, Sakurai's object (V4334 Sgr) suddenly brightened in the centre of a
faint Planetary Nebula (PN). This very rare event was interpreted as the
reignition of a hot white dwarf that caused a rapid evolution back to the cool
giant phase. From 1998 on, a copious amount of dust has formed continuously,
screening out the star which has remained embedded in this expanding high
optical depth envelope. The new observations, reported here, are used to study
the morphology of the circumstellar dust in order to investigate the hypothesis
that Sakurai's Object is surrounded by a thick spherical envelope of dust. We
have obtained unprecedented, high-angular resolution spectro-interferometric
observations, taken with the mid-IR interferometer MIDI/VLTI, which resolve the
dust envelope of Sakurai's object. We report the discovery of a unexpectedly
compact (30 x 40 milliarcsec, 105 x 140 AU assuming a distance of 3.5 kpc),
highly inclined, dust disk. We used Monte Carlo radiative-transfer simulations
of a stratified disk to constrain its geometric and physical parameters,
although such a model is only a rough approximation of the rapidly evolving
dust structure. Even though the fits are not fully satisfactory, some useful
and robust constraints can be inferred. The disk inclination is estimated to be
75+/-3 degree with a large scale height of 47+/-7 AU. The dust mass of the disk
is estimated to be 6 10^{-5} solar mass. The major axis of the disk (132+/-3
degree) is aligned with an asymmetry seen in the old PN that was
re-investigated as part of this study. This implies that the mechanism
responsible for shaping the dust envelope surrounding Sakurai's object was
already at work when the old PN formed.Comment: A&A Letter, accepte
GMRT Observations of the 2006 outburst of the Nova RS Ophiuchi: First detection of emission at radio frequencies < 1.4 GHz
The first low radio frequency (<1.4 GHz) detection of the outburst of the
recurrent nova RS Ophiuchi is presented in this letter. Radio emission was
detected at 0.61 GHz on day 20 with a flux density of ~48 mJy and at 0.325 GHz
on day 38 with a flux density of ~ 44 mJy. This is in contrast with the 1985
outburst when it was not detected at 0.327 GHz even on day 66. The emission at
low radio frequencies is clearly non-thermal and is well-explained by a
synchrotron spectrum of index alpha ~ -0.8 (S propto nu^alpha) suffering
foreground absorption due to the pre-existing, ionized, warm, clumpy red giant
wind. The absence of low frequency radio emission in 1985 and the earlier
turn-on of the radio flux in the current outburst are interpreted as being due
to higher foreground absorption in 1985 compared to that in 2006, suggesting
that the overlying wind densities in 2006 are only ~30% of those in 1985.Comment: 14 pages, 1 figure. Accepted for publication in ApJ
Solid-phase C60 in the peculiar binary XX Oph?
We present infrared spectra of the binary XX Oph obtained with the Infrared Spectrograph on the Spitzer Space Telescope. The data show some evidence for the presence of solid C60– the first detection of C60 in the solid phase – together with the well-known ‘unidentified infrared’ emission features. We suggest that, in the case of XX Oph, the C60 is located close to the hot component, and that in general it is preferentially excited by stars having effective temperatures in the range 15 000–30 000 K. C60 may be common in circumstellar environments, but unnoticed in the absence of a suitable exciting source
Swift Observations of Shock Evolution in RS Ophiuchi
Our \textit{Swift} observations of RS Oph form an unprecedented X-ray dataset
to undertake investigations of both the central source and the interaction of
the outburst ejecta with the circumstellar environment. Over the first month,
the XRT data are dominated by emission from rapidly evolving shocks. We discuss
the differences in derived parameters from those found for \textit{RXTE} at
early times and the evolution of the X-ray emission to much later times. It is
apparent that at late times several emission components are present. We find no
