    A review on the rotary ultrasonic machining of advanced ceramics

    Advanced ceramics are likely candidates for many industrial applications due to their superior properties. However, their high machining costs lead to limited applications. Rotary ultrasonic machining (RUM) is one of the cost-effective machining processes available for drilling holes in advanced ceramics. This paper reports on investigations in the last few years on RUM process of advanced ceramics. Emphasis is given on the effect of RUM process parameters (such as applied static load, rotational speed, ultrasonic power and vibration amplitude, abrasive grit size and coolant) on machinability parameters (such as material removal rate, tool wear and surface roughness). Results on tool wear and edge chipping are also reported

    MODEL PEMBELAJARAN TAKE AND GIVE BERBANTUAN MEDIA POWER POINT DALAM MENINGKATKAN MOTIVASI DAN HASIL BELAJAR PAI SISWA KELAS V SDN 74 KOTA PAGARALAM

    Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui: 1) peningkatan motivasi siswa dalam pembelajaran PAI dengan penerapan model pembelajaran Take and Give melalui media power point; 2) peningkatan hasil belajar PAI siswa dengan penerapan model pembelajaran Take and Give melalui media power point: 3) dan perbedaan motivasi belajar antara siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran Take and Give berbantuan media power point dengan siswa yang diajarkan menggunakan model konvensional. Rancangan penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas, dilakukan dalam dua siklus, yang masingmasing terdiri dari tahapan perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Take and Give berbantuan media power point dapat meningkatkan motivasi siswa dalam pembelajaran PAI di kelas V SDN 74 Kota Pagaralam. Rata-rata persentase motivasi belajar siswa Prasiklus dengan skor 57,71% masuk alam kriteria cukup, pada Siklus I meningkat menjadi 69,24% masuk dalam kriteria baik dan pada Siklus II meningkat menjadi 82,51% masuk dalam kriteria sangat baik. Nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa meningkat di mana pada pra siklus, nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa sebesar 65,53, dengan ketuntasan 47,37%, pada Siklus I pertemuan 3 meningkat dengan nilai rata-rata hasil belajar siswa sebesar 72,11, dengan ketuntasan 68,42% dan pada Siklus II pertemuan 3 meningkat dengan nilai ratarata hasil belajar siswa sebesar 80,79, dengan ketuntasan belajar 97,74%. Hasil uji Independent Sample Test menggunakan Equal variances assumed diperoleh nilai t hitung = 2,272 serta p = 0,029 <  = 0,05 yang berarti signifikan, jadi Ho ditolak dan Ha diterima. Artinya ada perbedaan motivasi belajar PAI antara siswa yang menerapkan model take and give dengan yang menerapkan model konvensional di kelas V SD Negeri 74 Pagaralam

    Effect of flow pattern at pipe bends on corrosion behaviour of low carbon steek and its challenges

    Recent design work regarding seawater flow lines has emphasized the need to identify, develop, and verify critical relationships between corrosion prediction and flow regime mechanisms at pipe bend. In practice this often reduces to an pragmatic interpretation of the effects of corrosion mechanisms at pipe bends. Most importantly the identification of positions or sites, within the internal surface contact areas where the maximum corrosion stimulus may be expected to occur, thereby allowing better understanding, mitigation, monitoring and corrosion control over the life cycle. Some case histories have been reviewed in this context, and the interaction between corrosion mechanisms and flow patterns closely determined, and in some cases correlated. Since the actual relationships are complex, it was determined that a risk based decision making process using selected ‘what’ if corrosion analyses linked to ‘what if’ flow assurance analyses was the best way forward. Using this in methodology, and pertinent field data exchange, it is postulated that significant improvements in corrosion prediction can be made. This paper outlines the approach used and shows how related corrosion modelling software data such as that available from corrosion models Norsok M5006, and Cassandra to parallel computational flow modelling in a targeted manner can generate very noteworthy results, and considerably more viable trends for corrosion control guidance. It is postulated that the normally associated lack of agreement between corrosion modelling and field experience, is more likely due to inadequate consideration of corrosion stimulating flow regime data, rather than limitations of the corrosion modelling.     Job satisfaction is an important aspect in creating efficiency and effectively working environment within the organization. Thus, this study evaluates the job satisfaction of employees in the company and aims to identify the factors that contribute to job satisfaction and the relationship between them. The researcher argues that one tool is not sufficient to identify certain factors related to job satisfaction as well as lack of research conducted on the job satisfaction among employees in the property developer company. Therefore, the study combines some of the major factors to measure the participants’ job satisfaction in the property developer company which are compensation package, relationship with supervisor, promotion opportunity and relationship with co-workers. This study’s results, which are based on data gathered from the questionnaire which been distributed to 65 employees within the company, Tebrau Teguh Berhad identified that all of these 4 factors which are compensation package, relationship with supervisor, promotion opportunity and relationship with co-worker has a significant relationship with the job satisfaction This finding found due to the correlation analysis implemented was resulted less than 0.05. As a conclusion, recommendation has been given throughout this study to the company and also, for the future studied in way for a better improvement

    Development of Polyetherimide-Zeolite 4A Mixed Matrix Membrane for CO2/CH4 separation

    The monetization of natural gas having high carbon dioxide content (>20mol %) post technological issues and challenges. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) removal unit should be installed at offshore to reduce CO2 content before sending to onshore. It has been found that membrane technology is the best technology for CO2 removal at offshore due to its simplicity, small size and environmental friendly. However, selection of the suitable material for membrane fabrication still a big problem and Many previous research show that Polyetherimide and zeolite 4A have good properties that can be fabricated a membrane that have high efficiency for CO2 removal. The main objective of the current study was to develop Polyetherimide-zeolite 4A mixed matrix membrane. Mixed matrix membrane is the membrane which has polymer as a based and inorganic material as a filter. The membranes were casted using solution casting method.     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui cara apa yang bisa dilakukan untuk melatih fokus belajar anak, sekaligus menerapkan solusi yang sudah disiapkan dalam proses pembelajaran, yakni dengan menggunakan strategi komunikasi persuasif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data untuk mempermudah peneliti, yaitu teknik observasi (pengamatan) secara langsung yang dilakukan oleh peneliti, serta dokumentasi yang menjadi data pendukung peneliti. Model yang digunakan untuk analisi data adalah model evaluasi CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product). Langkah penelitian yang dilakukan adalah membandingan beberapa orang anak dengan rentan usia yang belum sama sekali mengenyam pendidikan, dengan anak yang sudah tidak asing lagi dengan proses pembelajaran. Melalui langkah tersebut, peneliti kemudian mengatasi kesulitan melatih fokus anak dengan komunikasi persuasif menggunakan tata bahasa penyampaian yang lebih ringan dan berbagai permainan ringan untuk menarik perhatian anak-anak. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa tujuh dari 10 anak bisa terpengaruh dan fokus dengan strategi komunikasi persuasive

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji penerapan model pembelajaran Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Reflect, Review (SQ4R) terhadap peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis dan Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuasi eksperimen. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah desain kelompok kontrol pretes-postes. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMK Nasional Bandung. Adapun sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X-TKJ sebagai kelas eksperimen dan siswa kelas X-MMD sebagai kelas kontrol yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Masalah yang diteliti yaitu peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa serta SRL siswa terhadap pembelajaran matematika dengan model pembelajaran SQ4R. Instrumen pengumpulan data menggunakan tes kemampuan koneksi matematis dan angket skala SRL. Instrumen tes kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa diujicobakan terlebih dahulu sehingga memenuhi prasyarat untuk digunakan dalam penelitian ini, begitu pula dengan angket SRL yang diujicobakan dengan mengubah data skala kualitatif ke dalam data Methode of Successive Interval (MSI) terlebih dahulu. Analisis data kuantitatif menggunakan teknik independent sample t-test sedangkan analisis data skala sikap terlebih dahulu diubah menjadi data kuantitatif lalu dianalisis menggunakan teknik one sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) peningkatan kemampuan koneksi matematis siswa yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Reflect, Review lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning, 2) peningkatan Self-Regulated Learning siswa yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Reflect, Review lebih baik daripada siswa yang mendapatkan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning. Dengan demikian model pembelajaran Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Reflect, Review dapat dijadikan salah satu alternatif bagi guru dalam melaksanakan pembelajaran di kelas.     Analysis of Changes in the Sound of Arabic Loan Words in the Translation of Akidatul Awam by Syekh Ahmad Marzuki (Crowley's Theory Perspective)

    Arabic has considerable influence over the Indonesian language, namely in vocabulary or loan words.  This study aims to identify various forms of sound changes that occur in loanwords in the translation of the text Akidatul Awam. Using qualitative descriptive analysis, the researcher examined the data to discern the Arabic loan words in the text that take on an Indonesian phoneme. The results found 80 borrowed words in the translation of Akidatul Awam with various forms of sound changes in Crowley's theory; namely sound attenuation, sound reinforcement and sound addition. This research is expected to be able to increase knowledge in the field of linguistics, and assist language users in choosing and distinguishing loan words that are standard in Indonesian

    Influence of heat treatment on the isothermal oxidation of Fe-40Ni-24Cr alloy

    The isothermal oxidation behaviour of two different heat treated of Fe-40Ni-24Cr alloy was studied in this work. The present paper focuses on the isothermal oxidation behaviour at 700°C. Heat treatment at 2 different temperatures, namely 1000°C and 1200°C was applied to Fe-40Ni-24Cr alloy to alter the grain size of the samples. The heat treatment results showed that the average grain size increased with increase in heat treatment temperature. Optical microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-Ray Spectroscopy (EDS) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) were employed in this study to analyse the oxidation behaviour of heat treated samples. The heat treated samples were subjected to oxidation experiment under isothermal conditions for 500 hours. The oxide scale formed during oxidation were generally complex consists of several oxide phases. The samples morphologies of oxidized samples were influenced by the alloy structure and expose conditions. The kinetics of oxidation followed the parabolic law which represent diffusion controlled oxide growth rate. Results indicate that the fine grain size of alloy heat treated at 1000°C possess a better oxidation resistance and lowered the oxidation rate

    ABSTRAK PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA DIGITAL BERBASIS MOTION GRAPHIC PADA MATERI SUMBER DAYA ALAM DI SEKOLAH DASAR oleh Esah Raswati 1800731 Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan pada sebuah temuan di lapangan bahwa belum sepenuhnya guru menggunakan media pembelajaran yang inovatif di kelas. Namun, perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi yang pesat menjadi tantangan pembelajaran abad 21, karena harus melibatkan peran teknologi di bidang pendidikan. Kurangnya pemanfaatan media membuat siswa menjadi mudah bosan, dan sulit untuk memahami materi. Salahsatu media pembelajaran yang menarik dan mengikuti perkembangan zaman yaitu dengan penggunaan media digital. Media digital berbasis motion graphic juga dapat mengatasi kesulitan tersebut. Pengembangan ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan sebuah produk media pembelajaran dan mendeskripsikan kelayakan pengembangan media digital berbasis motion graphic pada materi sumber daya alam di sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu jenis penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development/R&D). Model desain dari penelitian dan pengembangan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu model pengembangan ADDIE. Dalam model penelitian ADDIE adalah model yang melibatkan prosedur atau langkah-langkah pengembangan dengan lima langkah yang diantaranya meliputi Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Berdasarkan hasil validasi ahli materi mendapatkan kualifikasi kelayakan "sangat baik". Media yang divalidasi oleh ahli media dalam kualifikasi "sangat baik" serta layak untuk digunakan di kelas IV SDN Cikondang I. Hasil tanggapan siswa dari uji produk kelompok kecil dan uji produk kelompok besar yaitu mendapatkan kelayakan "sangat baik". However, the rapid development of science and technology is a challenge for 21st century learning, because it must involve the role of technology in the field of education. The lack of media utilization makes students easily bored, and it is difficult to understand the material. One of the learning media that is interesting and keeps up with the times is the use of digital media. Motion graphic-based digital availability can also overcome these difficulties. This development aims to produce a learning media product and describe the feasibility of developing motion graphic-based digital media on natural resource materials in elementary schools. The type of research used in this research is the type of research and development (Research and Development / R&D). The design model of the research and development used in this study is the ADDIE development model. In the ADDIE research model is a model that involves development procedures or steps with five steps which include Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Based on the validation results of material experts get "excellent" feasibility qualifications. The media validated by media experts in the qualifications is "excellent" and worthy of use in grade IV SDN Cikondang I.
