    ANALYSIS OF THE CONTRIBUTION OF ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION TO WESTERN DEVELOPMENT: SOCIO-POLITICAL IMPLICATIONS

    Abstract: This study examines the contribution of Islamic civilization to the development of the West, especially the socio-political impact that is often overlooked. Its main objective was to identify the transfer of knowledge and its influence on the socio-political structure of Europe from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. The method uses a systematic literary study and historical analysis of the work of Al-Mawardi ( Al-Ahkam al-Sultaniyyah ), Ibn Rushd, as well as cultural interactions in Al-Andalus and Sicily.​ The results show a dual contribution: epistemological through Ibn Rushd's preservation of Aristotle which became the basis of European scholasticism, and transformational through Al-Mawardi's model of government which introduced justice, moral legitimacy, and early checks and balances. The Islamic Trade Network and the city of Cordoba sparked the emergence of Europe's first university and pluralistic civil society.​ These contributions form the foundation of modern Western inclusive democracy, demanding a reinterpretation of anti-Eurocentric history.     Learning the Values of Religious Moderation in the Context of Higher Education

    Indonesia, as a country with religious and cultural diversity, needs education that teaches moderate and tolerant attitudes, especially in higher education. Yogyakarta State University (UNY) has an important role in instilling religious moderation values to its students to encourage harmony in a plural society. This research aims to explore the implementation of religious moderation values education at UNY and analyse the application of such learning in the context of higher education. The approach used is qualitative with a case study method, where data is collected through in-depth interviews with students, lecturers, and managers of religious education programmes, as well as observations of activities related to religious moderation. The data obtained included interviews with relevant parties, as well as observations of religious education programs at UNY, such as religious education courses, interfaith dialogue forums, and student organisation activities. The results show that UNY has successfully integrated the values of religious moderation through various educational programmes and activities on campus. However, challenges such as differences in religious understanding, the influence of radicalisation from outside the campus, and limited facilities for wider dialogue are still obstacles in this effort

    The rapid digitalization of education has transformed Islamic Religious Education (PAI) while simultaneously generating significant pedagogical and normative challenges, particularly in sustaining Islamic pedagogy and moral–spiritual formation within digital learning environments. When digital media integration is not guided by value-oriented pedagogy, PAI risks becoming technocratic and instrumental, undermining its core mission of cultivating akhlaq karimah, religious consciousness, and ethical agency among learners. This study aims to analyze and formulate a digital media integration model for PAI learning in Cirebon that is pedagogically transformative and normatively grounded in Islamic educational values. Using a mixed methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, quantitative data were collected through a survey of 30 PAI teachers in schools and madrasahs in the Cirebon region, followed by qualitative data from open-ended interviews. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and the Miles and Huberman qualitative model, drawing on TPACK theory, the SAMR model, and an Islamic pedagogy framework emphasizing the integration of ‘ilm, iman, and ‘amal salih. The findings indicate that digital integration in PAI remains largely at substitution and augmentation levels, yet reflective, contextual, and collaborative digital practices significantly enhance student engagement and moral internalization. The study concludes that effective digital integration in PAI requires a value-conscious Islamic pedagogical framework supported by institutional policy and continuous professional development.Percepatan digitalisasi pendidikan menghadirkan dinamika baru dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI), sekaligus memunculkan problem pedagogis dan normatif, khususnya terkait pemaknaan nilai-nilai keislaman dalam ruang belajar digital. Integrasi media digital yang tidak terkelola secara pedagogis berpotensi menjadikan pembelajaran PAI bersifat teknokratis dan reduktif, sehingga tujuan pembentukan akhlak dan kesadaran religius peserta didik tidak tercapai secara optimal. Berangkat dari kondisi tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis dan merumuskan model integrasi media digital dalam pembelajaran PAI di Cirebon yang selaras dengan prinsip pedagogi modern dan nilai-nilai pendidikan Islam. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan mixed methods dengan desain sequential explanatory. Data kuantitatif diperoleh melalui survei terhadap 30 guru PAI di sekolah dan madrasah wilayah Cirebon, sedangkan data kualitatif dikumpulkan melalui wawancara terbuka untuk pendalaman dan konfirmasi temuan. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif kuantitatif dan kualitatif menggunakan model Miles dan Huberman. Kerangka analisis penelitian bertumpu pada teori TPACK, model SAMR, serta perspektif normatif pendidikan Islam yang menekankan integrasi ilmu, iman, dan amal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa praktik integrasi media digital dalam PAI masih dominan pada tataran substitusi dan augmentasi, sehingga belum sepenuhnya berorientasi pada transformasi pembelajaran yang bermakna dan bernilai. Namun demikian, penguatan kompetensi pedagogis-digital guru, pembelajaran kolaboratif, serta pemanfaatan media digital yang kontekstual dan reflektif terbukti mampu meningkatkan keterlibatan belajar siswa dan internalisasi nilai keislaman. Penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa integrasi media digital dalam PAI harus diletakkan dalam kerangka pedagogi Islam yang sadar nilai, didukung kebijakan institusional, dan pengembangan profesional berkelanjutan agar tujuan pendidikan Islam tercapai secara utuh dan berkelanjutan

    Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk membentuk karakter moderasi beragama pada remaja di Desa Tambakrejo, Kecamatan Patebon, Kabupaten Kendal melalui kajian kitab Muhtar Al-Hadith An-Nabawiyah. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) yang meliputi lima tahap utama: menemukan potensi dan aset, Bermimpi untuk merumuskan visi, merancang strategi, menentukan tujuan spesifik, dan mengimplementasikan (Takdir). Kegiatan ini berperan sebagai fasilitator yang berkolaborasi dengan Kyai Shohib dan komunitas remaja. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman remaja terhadap konsep moderasi beragama yang tercermin dari sikap mereka yang lebih santun dan beretika. Dampak ini juga mendapat respon positif dari orang tua. Kesimpulannya, kegiatan belajar buku ini berhasil membentuk karakter remaja yang seimbang dan toleran. Keberlanjutan kegiatan ini didukung oleh inisiatif remaja, rencana regenerasi guru, dan agenda wisata religi di masa mendatang

    An Analysis of Islamic Education Evaluation Results in Madrasahs: Techniques, Interpretation, and Implementation for Continuous Improvement

    This research employs a qualitative research method with a literature study approach. The analysis uses literature analysis, literature review, and secondary data analysis. The object of the research uses 8 journal articles related to the evaluation of Islamic education published in the last 5 years (2020-2024) in national journals accessed through Google Scholar. The findings indicate that a balanced approach utilizing both traditional and digital evaluation methods, alongside quantitative and qualitative analyses, offers a holistic perspective on learning outcomes. The research underscores the importance of incorporating evaluation findings into curriculum development to ensure that Islamic education remains relevant and impactful. This study highlights the importance of providing teachers with intensive training to enhance teacher skills, creating valid and reliable instruments rooted in Islamic values, while leveraging technology to design adaptive assessments aligned with students’ needs. Evaluation findings should be integrated into the curriculum and learning improvements, fostering students’ ability to compete globally without losing their Islamic identity

    Rapid infrastructure development in Papua has intensified tension between economic growth and the protection of indigenous cultural heritage. This condition represents a critical phenomenon marked by regulatory change and the urgent need for sustainable legal solutions in culturally sensitive regions. Existing legal frameworks often operate in a fragmented manner, weakening effective heritage protection. The theoretical framework of this study lies at the intersection of constitutional law, Islamic law, and legal pluralism. Although the Indonesian Constitution guarantees cultural advancement and the recognition of indigenous rights, and Islamic law provides ethical guidance through maqāṣid al-sharīʿah, their integration in heritage governance remains limited. This study aims to examine the harmonization of constitutional law and Islamic law in protecting Papua’s cultural heritage, using the Aitumeiri Civilization Stone Site as a case study. The research employs a normative legal method with statutory and conceptual approaches, supported by qualitative analysis and a maqāṣid al-sharīʿah framework focusing on the protection of religion, intellect, and lineage. The findings reveal overlapping regulations, weak intergovernmental coordination, and limited indigenous participation as major obstacles to effective heritage governance. Integrating maqāṣid al-sharīʿah into constitutional interpretation strengthens normative coherence and moral legitimacy. In conclusion, harmonized and inclusive legal frameworks are essential to safeguard Papua’s cultural heritage within sustainable development. The study recommends strengthening maqāṣid-based regional regulations, institutionalizing consultative mechanisms inspired by shūrā, and mandating heritage impact assessments involving indigenous communities.Percepatan pembangunan infrastruktur di Papua meningkatkan ketegangan antara kepentingan pembangunan ekonomi dan perlindungan warisan budaya masyarakat adat. Kondisi ini merupakan fenomena kritis yang ditandai oleh perubahan regulasi serta kebutuhan mendesak akan solusi hukum berkelanjutan di wilayah yang memiliki sensitivitas budaya tinggi. Kerangka hukum yang ada masih berjalan terpisah sehingga melemahkan perlindungan warisan budaya. Kerangka teoretis penelitian ini berada pada persinggungan antara hukum konstitusi, hukum Islam, dan pluralisme hukum. UUD 1945 menjamin pemajuan kebudayaan dan pengakuan hak masyarakat adat, sementara hukum Islam memberikan landasan etis melalui maqāṣid al-sharīʿah. Namun, integrasi keduanya dalam tata kelola warisan budaya belum optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis harmonisasi hukum konstitusi dan hukum Islam dalam perlindungan warisan budaya Papua dengan studi kasus Situs Batu Peradaban Aitumeiri. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian hukum normatif dengan pendekatan perundang-undangan dan konseptual, didukung analisis kualitatif serta kerangka maqāṣid al-sharīʿah yang menekankan perlindungan agama, akal, dan keturunan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya tumpang tindih regulasi, lemahnya koordinasi kelembagaan, serta keterbatasan partisipasi masyarakat adat. Integrasi maqāṣid al-sharīʿah dalam penafsiran hukum konstitusi memperkuat legitimasi normatif dan etis. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa regulasi yang harmonis dan inklusif merupakan syarat utama perlindungan warisan budaya Papua dalam pembangunan berkelanjutan, dengan rekomendasi penguatan Perdasus berbasis maqāṣid, musyawarah (syūrā), dan kajian dampak cagar budaya yang partisipatif

    English Immersion at Modern Pesantren: Communities of Practice and SLA Perspective

    This study explores the English immersion practice at Pondok Pesantren Darul Hijrah Putri in South Kalimantan through the lens of Communities of Practice (CoP) and Second Language Acquisition (SLA) theories. Drawing on qualitative data from interviews with students and teachers, institutional documents, field observations, and transcribed student conversations, the research uncovers how immersive language practices are organically built and sustained within a unique religious educational community. The findings reveal that English use is maintained not only through formal curriculum and institutional structures but also through peer participation, leadership modeling, and internalized social norms. Students experience language acquisition not merely as academic achievement but as part of their religious identity and social belonging, fostering strong engagement and functional fluency. It portrays how language practice is embraced in the sociolinguistic setting of pesantren as a community of practice. Some limitations, such as fossilized errors, limited authentic input, and affective barriers, are also discussed. In the end, this study offers theoretical and practical implications for the design of immersion in socio-religious educational settings

    Negotiating Sacred Law: Qur’anic Hermeneutics, Legal Pluralism, and Interfaith Marriage in Muslim-Majority Countries

    Interfaith marriage remains a persistently contested legal issue in Muslim-majority societies, situated at the intersection of Islamic legal authority, state constitutional frameworks, and global human rights discourses. The complexity of this debate has intensified within the context of the modern nation-state, which manages religious pluralism through state law and bureaucratic governance. This article examines how marital norms within Islamic law are not only formulated at the normative level but also negotiated, reinterpreted, and enacted within contemporary regimes of legal pluralism. Employing a qualitative approach grounded in an interdisciplinary framework, the study integrates doctrinal legal analysis, Qur’anic hermeneutics, and cross-national comparative law. Primary data are drawn from regulations and legal practices governing interfaith marriage in Indonesia, Egypt, Malaysia, and Turkey, while secondary data consist of classical fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) literature, Qur’anic exegetical works, and relevant contemporary scholarship. The findings reveal a spectrum of regulatory models ranging from absolute prohibition and ambiguous tolerance to hybrid regulation and secular permission, shaped by the complex interaction of fiqh doctrines, state bureaucratic governance, and social dynamics. The study further highlights the strategic role of bureaucratic actors in producing what is termed pragmatic fiqh, as well as the transnational strategies employed by interfaith couples to navigate restrictive domestic legal frameworks. Theoretically, the article introduces the concepts of negotiated orthodoxy and fiqh pragmatism as analytical tools for understanding the adaptation and transformation of Islamic law in modern contexts. In doing so, the study contributes to contemporary debates on Islamic legal pluralism by advancing fiqh pragmatism as an adaptive paradigm that bridges sacred norms and modern social realities

    Arang Briket Sekam Padi: Solusi Energi Alternatif Dan Potensi Ekonomi Masyarakat Puntik Luar

    Sekam padi merupakan limbah pertanian yang melimpah dan sering kali tidak dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Melalui kegiatan KKN Tematik UIN Antasari Banjarmasin di Desa Puntik Luar, masyarakat dilatih mengolah sekam padi menjadi briket arang sebagai bahan bakar alternatif yang ramah lingkungan. Tujuan dari kegiatan workshop ini untuk mengelola dan memanfaatkan limbah sekam padi untuk dijadikan energi alternatif yang mempunyai nilai jual tinggi, sehingga membuka potensi ekonomi desa Puntik Luar. Kegiatan ini menggunakan metode Participatory Action Research (PAR) dengan melibatkan warga secara langsung dalam setiap tahap, mulai dari pengarangan, pencampuran perekat alami, pencetakan, hingga pengeringan. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat mampu menghasilkan briket dengan nilai kalor sekitar 3.000–3.200 kkal/kg, mudah dinyalakan, dan menghasilkan pembakaran bersih. Selain mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan akibat pembakaran terbuka, kegiatan ini juga membuka peluang ekonomi baru melalui penjualan briket di pasar lokal. Secara keseluruhan, program ini meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pentingnya pengelolaan limbah pertanian dan menjadi langkah awal menuju desa mandiri energi

    Computational Thinking Skill of Prospective Mathematics Teachers in Statistic Methods Courses

    The statistics methods course is compulsory in the Mathematics Study Program, which uses applications according to technological developments, including the SPSS application. This study describes the computational Thinking of prospective mathematics teachers in solving statistics problems in statistics methods courses. This research is quantitative-qualitative descriptive research. The subjects were 88 students in the statistics methods course in the 2022/2023 academic year. The research instrument was a test containing three statistics problems. The findings have indicated that the computational Thinking of prospective mathematics teachers in solving statistics problems was in the Very Good Category with a percentage of 2,27%, the Good Category was 31,8%, the Enough category was 38,64%, the low Category was 19,32%, and the deficient Category was 7,95%. The researchers suggest that ongoing research needs to be conducted to improve students' computational thinking skills, and it is necessary to look for factors that influence students' computational thinking skills
