LENGUA Y CULTURA EN LA OBRA DE EUGENE A. NIDA, LA EQUIVALENCIA DINÁMICA: CRÍTICAS Y DEFENSORES

In this article we examine the books, lectures and manuscripts of the eminent American translation scholar Eugene A. Nida, in which he speaks of his fieldwork in more than one hundred countries in order to help native translators to render the Bible into their own languages. In doing so, he studied nearly two hundred languages and cultures and explored the deep relationship that exists between culture and language. Given his research in situ, he could develop his theory of dynamic equivalence, which represented a revolution in the approach to translation. Even though this theory was very well received, some detractors have criticized it. Here we review some of these critics and the comments of the authors who have defended Nida’s theory. We mention as well some Spanish translation specialists who introduced Nida’s ideas into Spain and have been instrumental in their divulgation.En este artículo se examinan los libros, conferencias y manuscritos del eminente traductólogo americano Eugene A. Nida, en los que habla de su trabajo de campo en más de 100 países para ayudar a traductores nativos a traducir la Biblia hacia sus propias lenguas. Esta tarea le llevó a estudiar unas 200 lenguas y culturas y a comprobar la profunda relación que existe entre la cultura y la lengua. Gracias a su investigación in situ, pudo elaborar su teoría de la equivalencia dinámica, que revolucionó el enfoque de la traducción. A pesar de que esta teoría fue generalmente aclamada, también recibió críticas. Aquí se pasa revista a algunas de ellas y a los comentarios de los autores que las han rebatido. También se mencionan los traductólogos españoles que introdujeron las ideas de Nida en España y que han ayudado a difundirlas

Significado de inclusión educativa de los estudiantes sordos de la Universidad Tecnológica Pereira

El propósito de este estudio es describir e interpretar el significado de inclusión educativa de los estudiantes sordos de la Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira (UTP) a través de un estudio cualitativo del enfoque fenomenológico hermenéutico de investigación educativa de Max Van Manen. Un grupo de estudiantes que se encuentran cursando los últimos semestres de sus respectivas carreras, usuarios de lengua de señas colombiana, cuatro de ellos provenientes de la misma institución educativa. Se realizaron entrevistas conversacionales y se recogieron fotografías y videos, se realizó la transcripción y se hizo un análisis de significados comunes, encontrando cuatro significados: Relación Estudiante – intérprete, relación profesor – estudiante, el aprendizaje del español lectoescrito y la accesibilidad a la biblioteca. Dentro de los roles y actividades que desempeña el Intérprete, tal como lo reportan los estudiantes en su experiencia vivida de Inclusión educativa, se destacan principalmente el intérprete como mediador comunicativo entre el Castellano y la Lengua de Señas Colombiana, como garante de la comunicación y Mediador cultural, frente a las barreras lingüísticas, los imaginarios sobre la sordera y en la participación política

Estudio patológico y propuesta de intervención parcial de rehabilitación del edificio patrimonial : la Casa-Palacio del Pumarejo de Sevilla

El edificio que me corresponde investigar y su intervención, son todo un desafío al patrimonio y a la historia de la ciudad. Hablo del complicado reto de intervenir en uno de los espacios que alberga el alma más trabajadora y personal de Sevilla. No se trata de rehabilitar un edificio ni de apuntalar una fachada y dar rienda suelta a la creatividad y delicadeza de un arquitecto, sino de mantener viva la llama de un recuerdo que amenaza con apagarse. Un recuerdo de casi 250 años de historia, empapado de la verdadera cultura delos que han habitado y trabajado en Sevilla. Los que han construido con sus propias manos cada uno de los detalles que forja en conjunto la historia de la ciudad. Y ese es el inflexible aro por el que resulta obligatorio y casi imposible pasar. Cualquier actuación será juzgada con demasiada, pero tan justa, exigencia, por lo que significa este genial y sorprendente espacio.The building I have to investigate and its intervention are a challenge to the heritage and history of the city. And that is the uncompromising hoop through which it is mandatory and almost impossible to pass. Segmenting colour images on the basis of a fuzzy hierarchical approach

In this paper we deal with two problems related to imprecision in colour image segmentation processes: to decide whether a set of pixels verify the property "to be homogeneously coloured", and to represent the set of possible segmentations of an image at different precision levels. In order to solve the first problem we introduce a measure of distance between colours in the CIE L*a*b* space, that allows us to measure the degree of homogeneity of two pixels p and q on the basis of the maximum distance between the colours of consecutive pairs of pixels in any path linking p and q . Since homogeneity is a matter of degree, we define a (fuzzy) segmentation of an image as a set of fuzzy regions, each of them being a fuzzy subset of pixels, that we obtain by using a region growing technique. The membership degree of each pixel to each region is calculated on the basis of our homogeneity measure. The second problem is solved by introducing a fuzzy similarity relation between the fuzzy regions in this initial segmentation. The different α-cuts of the similarity relation define the set of precision levels, from which a nested hierarchy of fuzzy segmentations is finally obtained

Broad cognitive complaints but subtle objective working memory impairment in fibromyalgia patients

Background Cognitive dysfunction in fibromyalgia (FM) encompasses objective cognitive difficulties, as measured in neuropsychological tests, and self-reported cognitive complaints. Although it has been suggested that FM patients display problems in working memory, the data are inconsistent, and the overall working memory status of the patients is unclear. It is also not clear whether the working memory problems are related to cognitive complaints or how the dyscognition is affected by the characteristic clinical symptoms of FM. Methods To clarify these aspects, we explored the neuropsychological performance for different components of working memory and the subjective self-perception of cognitive status in a sample of 38 women with FM. They were compared with a matched group of 32 healthy women. Results Our findings suggested that the FM patients do not differ from healthy controls in their overall working memory functioning. Only a poor performance was found in a single task of visuospatial working memory, mediated by the presence of depressive symptoms, fatigue and pain. The FM patients also displayed a higher level of perception of cognitive difficulties than healthy controls, and this difference was mediated by depression and fatigue. Furthermore, cognitive complaints in FM patients were only associated with a lower verbal WM capacity. Discussion FM patients have a subtle specific impairment in their working memory functioning, as well as elevated concern about their cognitive status. These findings suggest a disconnection between neuropsychological performance and subjective complaints. Anticuerpos del virus de la hepatitis C en pacientes con liquen plano bucal

El liquen plano bucal es una enfermedad inflamatoria crónica cuya etiologíapermanece desconocida. Se acepta que representa una respuesta inmune mediadapor células, en la que existe una interacción linfocito-epitelio, que culmina con ladegeneración del estrato basal epitelial. Se ha planteado una alta asociación conenfermedades hepáticas crónicas, como es el caso de la Hepatitis C, no teniendoreportes de estudios similares en nuestro país, por lo que se realizó la detección dede anticuerpos al virus de la Hepatitis C a 51 pacientes de liquen plano bucalprocedentes de la consulta de Patología Bucal de la Facultad de Estomatología,atendidos durante el período de 1991-2001 y a 45 controles, mediante una técnicade inmunoensayo con el objetivo de determinar el grado de asociación entre ambasentidades. Encontramos que tres pacientes resultaron positivos y sólo uno delgrupo control; sin embargo, la relación entre estas dos enfermedades no se logróestablecer, debido probablemente a los bajos índices de seroprevalencia registradosen nuestro país y quizás también al pequeño tamaño de la muestra.Palabras clave: Liquen plano bucal, Hepatitis C, virus de la Hepatitis C, VHC

Displasia Epitelial como característica histopatológica del Liquen Plano Bucal

El liquen plano bucal constituye una de las lesiones blancas más frecuentes de la mucosa bucal y posee cierto riesgo de transformación maligna. La presencia de displasia epitelial como predictor histológico de cambios malignos ha sido escasamente estudiada en el liquen plano bucal, por lo que nos propusimos determinar la presencia de displasia epitelial en biopsias de pacientes con dicha enfermedad.  Se emplearon las biopsias de 40 pacientes de la consulta de Patología Bucal de la Facultad de Estomatología del ISCM-H. Las láminas fueron procesadas por la técnica de inclusión en parafina y coloreadas con Hematoxilina/Eosina. Se determinó el tipo de queratinización, el grado de infiltrado inflamatorio, la presencia de degeneración vacuolar y la existencia de displasia epitelial, según los criterios de Smith y Pindborg aprobados por la OMS.  Se encontró displasia epitelial ligera en 57.5%, el resto no presentó displasia. Este alto grado de displasia ligera pudo deberse a que las muestras fueron tomadas de formas erosivas de liquen, a la subjetividad del método o en respuesta al intenso infiltrado inflamatorio también encontrado.  Palabras clave: Liquen plano bucal, displasia epitelial

The influence of maternal respiratory allergy on obstetrics and perinatal outcomes: a nested case–control study

Objective: To evaluate the influence of respiratory allergy on obstetrics and perinatal outcomes. Methods: A nested case–control retrospective study on 41 035 pregnant women. Obstetrics and perinatal outcomes of women with or without respiratory allergy were compared. Rates of preterm delivery (<37 weeks of gestation), low birth weight (<2500 g), neonatal acidosis (pH < 7.20), low 5-min APGAR score (<7), cesarean section rate and indications, and perinatal morbidity and mortality were analyzed. Results are expressed as number and percentages. χ2 and Fisher exact tests were used for comparisons. Logistic regression was used. Statistical significance was set at 95% level (P < 0.05). Results: A total of 724 (1.8%) patients had respiratory allergy, and their rates of preterm delivery and low birth weight were significantly higher than those of control women (both P < 0.001). Nevertheless, analyzing the causes, multiple gestation rate was significantly higher in this group, and adjusting by this, no statistical difference was found in any of the perinatal outcomes studied. In addition, in vitro fertilization and sterility were also significantly higher in the respiratory allergy group (both P < 0.001). Conclusion: Women with respiratory allergy are at higher risks of prematurity and low birth weight but these results are mediated by sterility, in vitro fertilization, and multiple gestation rate. RESUMEN: Sobre la base de una encuesta telefónica realizada a finales de 2016 a 1005 CEO o responsables de empresas familiares, cuyos resultados fueron empleados en el informe elaborado conjuntamente por el Instituto de la Empresa Familiar y la Red de Cátedras de Empresa Familiar, y publicado en 2018 con el título: Factores de Competitividad y Análisis Financiero en la Empresa Familiar, complementada con datos financieros, en el presente artículo se reflexiona sobre algunas de las características y principales retos de gobernanza de las empresas familiares españolas
