EVALUATION OF CURRENT SOIL CONSERVATION STRATEGIES

    Get PDF
The paper is divided into four broad selections. The first section spells out the major reasons for public action in regard to soil conservation. The second section briefly discusses the current soil conservation investments both public and private. The third section evaluates the current strategies, ranging from cost-sharing to regulation, in terms of economic, political, and administration effectiveness. Finally, the concluding section suggest what we have learned from the evaluation and what needs to be done so that future evaluations will have a firmer analytic basis.Land Economics/Use,

IMPLEMENTASI KONVENSI INTERNASIONAL PARIS AGREEMENT TENTANG MITIGASI PERUBAHAN IKLIM DI INDONESIA

    Get PDF

Hubungan Pelayanan Keperawatan Dengan Kepuasan Pasien Bpjs Rawat Inap Di Ruang Hana RSU Pancaran Kasih Gmim Manado

: Nursing service and the satisfaction of the patients are the two things that closely related and can\u27t be separated from each other because the method that being delivered by the nurses would directly impact the patients. The General Hospital Center (RSU) Pancaran Kasih GMIM Manado is a hospital that also giving a service for some people that has the BPJS Card, so that the evaluation about the nursing service and the satisfaction of the inpatients are need to be done. Purpose of the Research To find the correlation between the nursing service and the satisfaction of the BPJS inpatients in Hana room at The General Hospital Center (RSU) Pancaran Kasih GMIM Manado. Research Method that has been used in this research is descriptive analytic, the research design is by using cross sectional study. This research has been made in the Hana inpatients room on December 2016 at the The General Hospital Center (RSU) Pancaran Kasih GMIM Manado with the 84 number of sample Sampling Technique is by using simple random sampling method Research instrument, is by using Questionnaire. Data analysis is by using Chi-square statistic test with the level of significance (α) = 0,05 with the outcome Chi-square Count 47,296 with P-value 0,000. Conclusion there is a correlation between the nursing service and the satisfaction of the BPJS inpatients in Hana room at The General Hospital Center (RSU) Pancaran Kasih GMIM Manado

Estimating carbon stock change in agroforestry and family forestry practices

Paper presented at the 11th North American Agroforesty Conference, which was held May 31-June 3, 2009 in Columbia, Missouri. In Gold, M.A. and M.M. Hall, eds. Agroforestry Comes of Age: Putting Science into Practice. Proceedings, 11th North American Agroforestry Conference, Columbia, Mo., May 31-June 3, 2009.The Carbon Management Evaluation Tool for Voluntary Reporting (COMET-VR) is an online tool that estimates short-term carbon stock (CS) changes under different farm or forest land management systems, including temperate agroforestry practices. It was developed by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service in conjunction with Colorado State University. The intended audience includes private farm and forest landowners, NRCS field staff, and technical service providers. Through the online interface, users identify their location, parcel size, surface soil texture, crop rotation history and tillage intensity. The user can choose either of two methods to estimate CS change for their agroforestry practice: 1) for new or future plantings, by using standard prescriptions common to their geographic region, or 2) for a more accurate estimate of an existing planting, by using a summary of live-tree stand inventory data collected from their parcel. Above and below-ground individual tree biomass is calculated using diameter-based allometric equations generalized for tree genera groups. For existing agroforestry plantings, growth estimates are based on empirical models developed from forest inventory data specific to species and region. For new or future plantings, growth estimates were derived for standard agroforestry prescriptions using the Forest Vegetation Simulator. COMET-VR uses the Century soil carbon model to estimate CS change in soil. The output of the tool is a report estimating CS changes over the forthcoming 10 years in the above and below-ground portions of live trees and in the soil. Although specifically designed to meet the requirements of the US Dept. of Energy voluntary greenhouse gas reporting program, COMET-VR may also be applicable to other private and public sector carbon offset programs.Miles L. Monitoring Heart Function in Larval Drosophila melanogaster for Physiological Studies

    Get PDF
We present various methods to record cardiac function in the larval Drosophila. The approaches allow heart rate to be measured in unrestrained and restrained whole larvae. For direct control of the environment around the heart another approach utilizes the dissected larvae and removal of the internal organs in order to bathe the heart in desired compounds. The exposed heart also allows membrane potentials to be monitored which can give insight of the ionic currents generated by the myocytes and for electrical conduction along the heart tube. These approaches have various advantages and disadvantages for future experiments that are discussed. The larval heart preparation provides an additional model besides the Drosophila skeletal NMJ to investigate the role of intracellular calcium regulation on cellular function. Learning more about the underlying ionic currents that shape the action potentials in myocytes in various species, one can hope to get a handle on the known ionic dysfunctions associated to specific genes responsible for various diseases in mammals
