The work of Fernando Pessoa in Italy is now easily accessible. Pessoa’s works in the Italian language are numerous, just like the critical essays and the intertextual interpretations. Therefore, it is necessary to wonder why the Italian collective imagination has not been able to overcome some reconfigurations that crystallized Pessoa’s reception. The reception in question presents the poetics of the author essentially in two different ways. On the one hand, Pessoa as a poet-prose writer, who through the Livro do Desassossego becomes the symbol of his hometown. On the other hand, the genial and psychotic mind that has been able to invent a heteronomy world. This article tries to understand the dynamics that led to a structured, but peculiar path of the Italian reception of Fernando Pessoa and the reason why it is now possible to talk about Pessoa as a contemporary myth

The Soncini-Ganapini archive’s analysis, gives the opportunity to understand the link between the city of Reggio Emilia and the African national liberation movements, in particular Mozambicans. The analysis proposed focuses on the figure of Giuseppe Soncini, who was able to create a network of contacts and friendships, which led to the birth of health, social and political projects. The archival study is centered on the numerous letters and personal communications between Giuseppe Soncini and the representatives of FRELIMO, in particular Marcelino dos Santos, Samora Machel and Oscar Monteiro, to try to understand how the city of Reggio Emilia becomes a point of reference and support for FRELIMO. The period taken into consideration goes from the beginning of the first exchanges of letters in the 1960s, to the period just after the National Solidarity Conference (held in Reggio Emilia in 1973), in particular until the independence of Mozambique. Furthermore, it was decided to question the presence of traces of that story dating back to almost fifty years ago, therefore set in our contemporaneity, in order to try and understand what remains today of that historical period called “the great season of international solidarity”

This research aims at enlarging the understanding of the value and importance of the Italian contributions which helped create the literary myth of Fernando Pessoa. This kind of research was carried out with a practical approach, in order to collect every Italian publication, in particular works by Pessoa translated into Italian, critical essays about the Portuguese poet, anthologies text book extracts, journal articles, tourist guides and intertextual operations (narrative works, movies, songs, plays…) where Fernando Pessoa’s works and personality are remediated. From a methodological point of view, it was necessary to create a database to collect and analyse the materials and therefore understand the reception of the Portuguese author in our country. The chronological boundaries were established during the works analysis and were determined from the end of the 1930s (the years of the first Italian translation of a Pessoa’s poem) to the present day. The study reveals the main Italian key to the interpretation of Pessoa’s works, while at the same time suggesting to what extent the Italian interpretations were fundamental in the construction of Pessoa’s myth. This research therefore revolves around conceptualizing how the figure of the Portuguese writer is perceived by Italian readers. And which Italian ‘filters’ returned to the reader, and in general to the Italian ‘imaginary’, the Portuguese writer

La Finestra come genesi della poesia: la dialettica del fuori e del dentro in Tabacaria : nuovi percorsi estetici nella poesia pessoana

The window can include a lot of different symbolic values and can be considered at the same time a border and a protection area: this architectural element allows the pessoan heteronomy \uc1lvaro de Campos to observe other people’s life, taking place in the road. His gaze, attentive and absorbed at the same time, leads to the birth of the poem Tabacaria (1928). It is a poem that from the beginning portrays the collapse of illusion: the poet is a man who chooses not to live his own life, preferring to take refuge behind a window, a profound disillusionment narrated through the dialectics of ‘outside and inside’. In Tabacaria the window allows two opposing worlds – otherwise incompatible – to come together, although they remain separate, a contrast defined by the Pessoa-Campos as alienating, reminiscent of the perceptual dialectic theorized by the philosopher Merleau-Ponty. A window, an architectural barrier that allows you to see and be seen at the same time, putting together two seemingly irreconcilable worlds. ‘Tecnema’, which has always fascinated and here becomes the place of observation of the ‘tabacaria’, is the symbol of an illusory world. From a real and ordinary situation, ‘finished’ and enclosed by the walls of the attic, the poet conveys a feeling of infinity, eternity, through an expansion of the senses disintegrated from the tediousness of the existential poetic subject

Abstract

Background

Health care providers (HCPs) play an important role in public health emergency preparedness and response (PHEPR) so need to be aware of public health threats and emergencies. To inform HCPs, public health issues PHEPR messages that provide guidelines and updates, and facilitate surveillance so HCPs will recognize and control communicable diseases, prevent excess deaths and mitigate suffering. Public health agencies need to know that the PHEPR messages sent to HCPs reach their target audience and are effective and informative. Public health agencies need to know that the PHEPR messages sent to HCPs reach their target audience and are effective and informative. We conducted a literature review to investigate the systems and tools used by public health to generate PHEPR communications to HCPs, and to identify specific characteristics of message delivery mechanisms and formats that may be associated with effective PHEPR communications.

Methods

A systematic review of peer- and non-peer-reviewed literature focused on the following questions: 1) What public health systems exist for communicating PHEPR messages from public health agencies to HCPs? 2) Have these systems been evaluated and, if yes, what criteria were used to evaluate these systems? 3) What have these evaluations discovered about characterizations of the most effective ways for public health agencies to communicate PHEPR messages to HCPs?

Results

We identified 25 systems or tools for communicating PHEPR messages from public health agencies to HCPs. Few articles assessed PHEPR communication systems or messaging methods or outcomes. Only one study compared the effectiveness of the delivery format, device or message itself. We also discovered that the potential is high for HCPs to experience "message overload" given redundancy of PHEPR messaging in multiple formats and/or through different delivery systems.

Conclusions

We found that detailed descriptions of PHEPR messaging from public health to HCPs are scarce in the literature and, even when available are rarely evaluated in any systematic fashion. To meet present-day and future information needs for emergency preparedness, more attention needs to be given to evaluating the effectiveness of these systems in a scientifically rigorous manner.</p
