Bidimensional Cross-Cloud Application Management with TOSCA and Brooklyn (summary)

The diversity in the way different cloud providers offer their services, give their SLAs, present their QoS, support different technologies, etc., complicates the portability and interoperability of cloud applications, and favors vendor lock-in. Standards like TOSCA, and tools supporting them, have come to help in the provider-independent description of cloud applications. After the variety of proposed cross-cloud application management tools, we propose going one step further in the unification of cloud services with a deployment tool in which IaaS and PaaS services are integrated into a unified interface. We provide support for applications whose components are to be deployed on different providers, indistinctly using IaaS and PaaS services. The TOSCA standard is used to define a portable model describing the topology of the cloud applications and the required resources in an agnostic, and providers- and resources-independent way. We include in this paper some highlights on our implementation on Apache Brooklyn and present a non-trivial example that illustrates our approach. Asexualidad: un recorrido a lo largo de la historia y la medicina

El origen de la asexualidad es bastante difuso y complejo, pues, aunque ha estado presente en el ser humano desde tiempos inmemoriales, es relativamente reciente. En 1950 aparece por vez primera con Kinsey y su escala («categoría X» = falta de atracción sexual). Sin embargo, son Storms y su modelo bidimensional de la sexualidad basado en el homo y heteroerotismo los que introdujeron el término de «asexualidad» como tal. La falta de conocimiento y la poca información sobre la asexualidad ha hecho que numerosas personas se sientan incomprendidas, incluso llegando a ser diagnosticadas con un trastorno mental. En este contexto, cabe señalar la labor del colectivo AVENes en la transmisión y difusión de información. Esta revisión aborda la asexualidad desde diversas perspectivas, como la histórica y la médica, así como la errónea concepción de la asexualidad como una disfunción sexual o incluso como un trastorno mental (trastorno de deseo sexual hipoactivo). An iterative design method for Coalitional control networks with constraints on the shapley Value

In this scheme, the links in the network infrastructure are enabled or disabled depending on their contribution to the overall system performance. As a consequence, the local controllers are divided dynamically into sets or coalitions that cooperate in order to attain their control tasks. The new design method allows the control system designer to include new constraints regarding the game theoretical tools of the control architecture, while optimizing the matrices that define the controller

Easy Development and Use of Dialogue Services

The final publication is available at Springer via http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-319-07596-9_9We present a framework for Dialogue-Based Web Services (DBWS), i.e. services that require several message exchanges during their execution. Service development is simplified with the use of script languages and abstracting the communication layer. Service advertisements are carried out with a semantic Web Service directory with search and reputation capabilities. Execution can be performed from a mobile user interface that includes capabilities for user assistance. Our framework aims at filling the gap between services and non-IT users/experts. Reacondicionamiento de los sistemas de aguas servidas y aguas lluvias de la Escuela Los Cristales Sector Zapallar, Comuna Curicó

82 p.El objetivo central de este estudio fue analizar la situación actual que afecta a la instalación sanitaria de la escuela Los Cristales ubicada en el sector de Zapallar, comuna de Curicó. Este establecimiento educacional presenta 2 principales problemas: el primero referente al mal olor que se puede percibir en el sector; y el segundo inconveniente ocurre en meses de invierno, específicamente al momento de haber precipitaciones abundantes, en donde se satura el sistema de aguas servidas, inundando el patio del recinto.La idea es identificar los sistemas de aguas servidas y aguas lluvias que tiene la escuela, con el fin de averiguar si éstos poseen irregularidades que puedan ser causas de los problemas que allí se presentan. También en las cercanías de esta edificación, se encuentra una planta de tratamiento de aguas servidas, la cual se evaluará analíticamente intentando encontrar la causa de las problemáticas que sufre la escuela estudiada. Ya al tener una evaluación completa de todos los factores que puedan influir o causar los malestares de mal olor y saturación con aguas servidas, se pretende entregar la o las causas para cada uno de ellos, con la finalidad de conocer qué es lo que está funcionado mal. Aparentemente éstos pueden ser producidos por el mal funcionamiento del sistema de aguas servidas de la edificación, como también el mal diseño o ubicación de la planta de tratamiento Los Cristales. Esta problemática ha sucedido reiterativamente durante varios años y hasta la fecha no se ha llevado a cabo ninguna solución, es por este motivo que por ahora se puede concluir que el problema radica en la falta de conocimiento que existe entre el funcionamiento de la planta de tratamiento y la urbanización del sector. Con todo este estudio se pretende entregar una propuesta o recomendaciones que solucionen la actual problemática que tiene la red de alcantarillado tanto del establecimiento educacional como del sector

Can teachers influence student perceptions and preferences? Experimental evidence from a taxation course

We explore the impact of university teacher-student interactions on student perceptions of, and preferences with regard to, taxation. Grounded in an experimental framework in which tax practitioners (who are usually hired as adjunct university lecturers) delivered an introductory lecture on an undergraduate tax course, we find that the lectures can impact perceptions, but also preferences if the lecture is of sufficient interest or relevance to engage student attention. Additionally, we find that lectures delivered by practitioners working in the public sector tend to increase student perceptions of tax justice, but that this impact is independent of both the gender of the lecturer and that of the student. However, we deduce the existence of gender bias in evaluating the perceived interest level of lectures. All else being equal, male students typically provide lower ratings for female lecturers, whereas female students tend to give higher ratings for male lecturers
