    Menstrual hygiene: Knowledge and practice among adolescent school girls at Koawena, Ende district-Indonesia

    Background: World Health Organization global database on women rarely pay attention to the cleanliness of their external genitalia, resulting in annual vaginal infections 10-15% by candida and 15% vaginal discharge. In Indonesia was a very few study on menstrual hygiene: knowledge and practice among adolescentPurpose: Knowing the influence of counseling on menstrual hygiene: knowledge and practice among adolescent school girls at Koawena, Ende district-IndonesiaMethods: The quantitative research by quasi-experiment design of one-group pretest-posttest approach. The population was adolescent school girls at Koawena, Ende district-Indonesia by total sampling were 17 respondents. Conducted on August, 2018. The analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis using the  paired T- test.Results: The bivariate test analysis showed differences in the level of knowledge before and after counseling on menstrual hygiene: knowledge and practice p-value = 0.034, indicating by increasing of the level of knowledge, would be followed by in a good practice in menstrual hygiene among adolescent school girls at Koawena, Ende district-Indonesia.Conclusion: The health practitioners need to come to adolescent school girls to give health education with the topic of menstrual hygiene: knowledge and practice

    PENGARUH PENGETAHUAN DAN KONSUMSI OAINS TERHADAP KEJADIAN GASTRITIS DI KABUPATEN ENDE

    Gastritis is a non-communicable disease which is still a global health problem. The level of awareness of the Indonesian people to maintain stomach health, especially gastritis is still low, so because of low public awareness, it is often left alone without treatment. The aim of the study was to identify the effect of knowledge and consumption of NSAIDs on the incidence of gastritis in Ende district. The design used was analytic observation using a case control design. Data was collected in August 2017 using a questionnaire. Data were analysed multivariately using logistic regression. The place/location where the case study was conducted was in Ende district. The results showed that cases and controls were comparable in terms of gender (p=0.224), age (p=0.360), education (p=0.001) and occupation (p=0.430). The results of the multivariate test showed that the habit of consuming NSAIDs (OR 5.159; p = 0.003), and knowledge about gastritis (OR 7.945; p = 0.000). It can be concluded that knowledge and consumption habits of NSAIDs are one of the factors causing gastritis in Ende Regency. Therefore, promotive efforts are needed in the form of counselling about Gastritis and the habit of not taking NSAIDs without a doctor's prescription

    Response Time Nurses in Providing Services with Patient Satisfaction Installed Emergency Department

    Background: Patient satisfaction is determined by the service that one of nurse is a fast response time and precise handling. Respon  time can reduce the extent of internal organ damage and also suppress the financing burden. The purpose of this research is to determine the correlationship between nursing response time in providing service and patient satisfaction in Emergency Department of Ende General Hospital. Methode: This is a correlational research conduct with cross sectional approach. The sample amount of 130 patients selected in accidental sampling. The instrument used in this research is the watch to calculate response time and a patient satisfaction questionnaire consisting of 21 statements on the desired patient/family expectations and the perceived patient/family statement after Get service at Emergency Department. Result: The results showed that the response time nurse of Ende Publich Hospitall in the fast category so that the patient is satisfied with the service at the IGD RSUD Ende.  Analysis results showed there is a link between the response time of nurses in providing service with the satisfaction of patients with a value of P value 0.00. Conclusion: The sooner the time response nurse will provide satisfaction to the patient. Therefore, we need to improve the quality of human resources and facilities in the IGD space to maintain the quality of service

    Objective:  to analyze the effect of knowledge on the readiness of nursing students to perform basic life support in the Ende Nursing Study Diploma III ProgrammeMethods: this research is correlational non-experimental with a cross sectional time approach to determine the effect of nursing students' knowledge and readiness in performing basic life support. The sample in this study were 44 students who met the following criteria: 1) Level III students who were registered as diploma nursing students, 2) Willing to be partisipated in this research. The sample in this study were nursing students level III semester V totaling 44 people. In this research, the sampling technique used  is total sampling. Data analysis using statistical analysis.The results showed that 68% of respondents had good knowledge of BLS and 70% of respondents were ready to do BLS. There is an influence of respondents' knowledge and readiness in doing BLS with p value = 0.03 (95% CI 1.121-10.480). Therefore, it is necessary to conduct further research on the skills of nursing students in carrying out BLS so that they can provide first aid in cases of cardiac arrest outside the hospital and improve survival.Conclusion:  There is a correlation of knowledge with the readiness of nursing students in doing BH

    Abstract: Introduction: The implementation of disaster preparedness does not only involve the government, but also involves the community and health workers. Nurses have a very big role in preparing for and dealing with the community in the face of a disaster. This study aims to determine the role of nurses in flood disaster management in Kota Baru, Rukun Lima and Nanga panda sub-districts. Methods: This study used a descriptive method,  with  a  total  sample  of  42  nurses  who were selected purposively. The instrument used was a nurse role questionnaire consisting of 8 statements of pre-disaster, 9 statements of disaster during the disaster and 6 statements of post-disaster. Results: From the data analysis, it was found that the role of nurses in disaster management was still in the poor  category,  namely  the  pre-disaster  88%,  76%  intra- disaster and 81% post-disaster. Conclusion: Nurses who are prepared for disasters can be assisted in physical, mental, and emotional care efforts. As an initial step towards disaster preparedness, the government needs to develop an adequate education, training and financing system so that existing nursing   personnel   do   not   become   redundant   but   are maximally useful.  Abstrak: Pendahuluan: Penerapan kesiapsiagaan bencana tidak hanya melibatkan  pemerintah,  tetapi  juga  melibatkan  masyarakat dan petugas kesehatan. Perawat memiliki peran yang sangat besar dalam mempersiapkan maupun menangani masyarakat saat menghadapi bencana. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Peran Perawat Dalam Penanggulangan Bencana Banjir di Wilayah Kecamatan Kota Baru, Rukun Lima dan Nanga panda. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 42 orang perawat yang dipilih secara purposive. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa kuesioner peran perawat yang terdiri dari pra bancana 8 pernyataan, saat bencana 9 pernyataan dan pasca bencana 6 pernyataan. Hasil: Dari analisis data didapatkan hasil bahwa Peran Perawat dalam penanggulangan bencana masih berada pada kategori kurang yaaitu tahap pra bencana 88%, intra bencana 76% dan post bencana 81%.  Kesimpulan: Perawat yang dipersiapkan untuk menghadapi bencana bisa diperbantukan dalam upaya perawatan fisik, mental, dan emosional. Sebagai langkah awal kesiapsiagaan bencana, pemerintah perlu mengembangkan sistem pendidikan, pelatihan,  dan  pembiayaan  yang  memadai  sehingga tenaga keperawatan yang ada tidak menjadi mubazir tetapi berguna secara maksimal. &nbsp

    The family preparedness of children in dealing with a flood disaster in Pau-Panda II Village, Wewaria sub-district of Ende Regency Indonesia

    Background: For almost ten years Wewaria Village, Wewaria sub-district of Ende Regency suffered a flood disaster. The flood occurred in 2008, 2012, and 2016. Paupanda II Village has a puddle up to one and a half meter every year. Flood emergencies can cause family panic in rescuing themselves or their children under five. Children are a vulnerable group in the health sector because they cannot help themselves, when floods. If family preparedness is low, then the child’s health threatened, increasing the child’s morbidity or mortality rate. Purpose: This study explains or explore the experience of family preparedness who have children under five dealing with floods. Method: it used Purposive sampling in selecting the first informant then using snow ball sampling for the next informant. The number of samples is 9 people taken from a family of 6 people, 2 policy stakeholders, and 1 health worker. The qualitative analysis used is triangulation of data sources. Results: Family knowledge is well, but preparedness is still low for children needs, flood early warning, flood emergency response preparedness, and resource mobilization deal with floods.&nbsp

    Objective: to find out further what factors greatly affect the level of incident reporting, especially in the Ende Regional General Hospital. Methods: The research design used in this study was descriptive-analytic with a cross-sectional approach to analyzing incident reporting culture and factors influencing patient safety incident reporting culture in nurses at the Ende Regional General Hospital (RSUD). The population in this study were nurses at the Ende General Hospital with a sample of 162 nurses, sampling using purposive sampling techniques. The instrument used was the Incident Reporting Culture Questionnaire and attitude, communication and teamwork questionnaire. Result : There si significant nurses’ attitude (p=0,004) and nurses’ communication (p= 0,001) toward incident reporting. Conclusion: All health workers must work together so that patient safety incident reporting becomes a culture. The culture of reporting patient safety incidents at RSUD Ende must be improved. Nurses' communication and attitudes should be monitored more closely because they are closely related to the culture of reporting incidents in hospital

    Latar Belakang : Penularan COVID 19 yang tidak terkendali dengan baik akan menjadi ancaman nyata kesehatan, keselamatan dan keberlangsungan perekonomian masyarakat. Masih belum maksimalnya kesadaran kolektif masyarakat untuk melaksanakan prorokol kesehatan dan minimnya alat prookol kesehatan seperti masker yang sesuai stadar menjadi salah satu penyebab utama masifnya penularan COVID 19 di berbagai klaster. Tujuan kegiatan ini untuk meningkatkan partisipasi seluruh elemen masyarakat dalam melaksanakan prorokol kesehatan COVID 19 berupa menggunakan masker dengan tepat dan sesuai standar nasional. Metode : Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan di beberapa lokasi di dalam kota Kabupaten Ende provinsi Nusa Tenggara Timur. Metode kegiatan pegabdian masyarakat dilakukan dengan beberapa tahap yakni merencanakan kegiatan, melakukan observasi dan analisis situasi, mengidentifikasi dan menetapkan masalah, melakukan koordinasi, merencanakan, menetapkan kegiatan, melaksanakan kegiatan dan melakukan evaluasi kegiatan. Hasil: Program Studi Keperawatan Ende Politeknik Kesehatan Kemenkes Kupang melakukan edukasi dan  membagikan 1000 buah masker gratis kepada masyarakat sebagai bentuk dukungan terhadap program nasional pengendalian penyebaran kasus COVID 19. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat tersebut dilaksanakan pada Rabu 02 September tahun 2020 yang dilakukan dipusat aktivitas masyarakat Kota Ende seperti pangkalan ojek, jalan dan pasar yang dilakukan oleh tim pengabdian untuk memudahkan pembagian masker kepada masyaraka

    The factors affecting stunting among toddlers in Ende, Indonesia

    Background: Short stature in toddlers indicates chronic nutritional problems that are influenced by maternal conditions, birth weight, toddler weight, and infant diseases or other problems that indirectly affect health.Purpose: To determine the factors affecting stunting among toddlers in Ende, IndonesiaMethod: Correlational using a cross sectional approach to 155 toddlers. Purposive sampling was used to collect samples from eight sub-districts in Ende Regency. Questionnaires were distributed for data collection. In this study, bivariate analysis used chi-square test, and multivariate analysis used logistic regression.Results: Univariate analysis showed that most of the respondents (mothers of toddlers) had a history of short stature, was not at risk for gestational age, had poor nutrition, had a good level of knowledge about infant food and nutrition, had no history of infection during pregnancy, and always had antenatal care check-ups. Factors under five identified that almost all have a history of infectious diseases, have been sick in the last month, have no history of low birth weight, have complete vaccination, are not premature, and have intrauterine growth, and growth restriction. Environmental factors indicate that some respondents have clean latrines, have a distance to health facilities <1 km, have clean drinking water, and are not pregnant and breastfeeding.Conclusion: Several variables have a significant relationship with stunting in such as exclusive breastfeeding, infectious diseases, drinking water quality, and distance to health facilities. The results of the multivariate analysis showed that the infectious disease variable was the dominant variable causing stunting in Ende Regency.Suggestion: Local health authority to garner cooperation from various regional bureaucracies in Ende Regency to tackle stunting in this area
