Trainee teachers’ perceptions on cyberbullying in educational contexts
This paper analyzes the perceptions of teachers in training regarding cyberbullying in schools. The objectives of the study were: to ascertain their perceptions regarding their concern and their commitment to cyberbullying, their agreement with the measures to address it in educational contexts, as well as the assessment of their capabilities to act and the training they have received and they would like to receive; to determine if the perceptions differ according to gender, age and degree pursued and if there are relationships between the perceptions; and, to define pre-service teachers’ profiles based on perceptions. With a survey research design, 408 students from different
undergraduate and graduate education-related degree programs at Spanish public universities participated. Findings highlight the coexistence of three different teacher in training profiles.
All profiles exhibit a high level of concern and recognize cyberbullying as a problem. They strongly agree with all the proposed prevention and management measures. Two of the three profiles perceive themselves as highly confident and willing to respond. On the contrary, participants in the third profile do not feel confident enough to act and consider their training insufficient, coinciding with the second profile. The need to approach this issue in the initial training of future education professionals is a main conclusion
Dynamic Daylight Metrics for Electricity Savings in Offices: Window Size and Climate Smart Lighting Management
Daylight performance metrics provide a promising approach for the design and
optimization of lighting strategies in buildings and their management. Smart controls for electric
lighting can reduce power consumption and promote visual comfort using different control strategies,
based on affordable technologies and low building impact. The aim of this research is to assess the
energy efficiency of these smart controls by means of dynamic daylight performance metrics, to
determine suitable solutions based on the geometry of the architecture and the weather conditions.
The analysis considers different room dimensions, with variable window size and two mean surface
reflectance values. DaySim 3.1 lighting software provides the simulations for the study, determining
the necessary quantification of dynamic metrics to evaluate the usefulness of the proposed smart
controls and their impact on energy efficiency. The validation of dynamic metrics is carried out by
monitoring a mesh of illuminance-meters in test cells throughout one year. The results showed that,
for most rooms more than 3.00 m deep, smart controls achieve worthwhile energy savings and a low
payback period, regardless of weather conditions and for worst-case situations. It is also concluded
that dimming systems provide a higher net present value and allow the use of smaller window size
than other control solutions
Social Education at European Higher Education Area requires new teaching and learning processes to be
located on the knowledge and information society scene. For that purpose, Information and Communication
Technologies (ICT) - especially social-constructivism and researcher formative practices using web 2.0
applications- will play a significant role in the innovation and improvement Social Education.
This article analyzes didactic implications through a conceptual approximation about web 2.0 and the
second generation in the convergence process with Europe in terms on Higher Education
