Revisiting the fossil group candidates UGC 842 and NGC 6034

We present a new insight on NGC 6034 and UGC 842, two groups of galaxies previously reported in the literature as being fossil groups. The study is based on optical photometry and spectroscopy obtained with the CTIO Blanco telescope and Sloan Digital Sky Survey archival data. We find that NGC 6034 is embedded in a large structure, dominated by three rich clusters and other small groups. Its first and next four ranked galaxies have magnitude differences in the r band and projected distances which violate the optical criteria to classify it as a fossil group. We confirm that the UGC 842 group is a fossil group, but with about half the velocity dispersion that is reported in previous works. The velocity distribution of its galaxies reveals the existence of two structures in its line of sight, one with sigmaV ~ 223 km/s and another with sigmaV ~ 235 km/s, with a difference in velocity of ~820 km/s. The main structure is dominated by passive galaxies, while these represent ~60% of the second structure. The X-ray temperature for the intragroup medium of a group with such a velocity dispersion is expected to be kT ~0.5-1 keV, against the observed value of kT ~1.9 keV reported in the literature. This result makes UGC 842 a special case among fossil groups because (1) it represents more likely the interaction between two small groups, which warms the intragroup medium and/or (2) it could constitute evidence that member galaxies lost energy in the process of spiraling toward the group center, and decreased the velocity dispersion of the system. Controle de recalque durante a execução de edifícios no Distrito Federal

O controle de recalque é um método de monitoramento que visa garantir e verificar o desempenho das fundações em todas as etapas de uma edificação. Esse monitoramento ainda é pouco utilizado no Distrito Federal por falta de conhecimento e também por falta de concepção da sua importância. A norma ABNT 6122 - Projeto e Execuções de Fundações, revisada em 2010, traz a obrigatoriedade da realização do monitoramento de recalque em edificações específicas. A revisão desta norma é de extrema importância para que haja uma mudança da cultura do Distrito Federal, dando a relevância necessária a esse controle que verifica o desempenho das fundações. A maneira correta de realização do monitoramento de recalque é desde o início da obra, para que seja possível coletar os recalques em todas as fases da memsa. À medida que a obra avança os carregamentos também aumentam, portanto é necessário monitorar durante todo o decurso da obra para que se tenha o desempenho completo da edificação. É crucial que se depreenda que o controle de recalque tem que ser de natureza preventiva. Esse método é usado a fim de avaliar o desempenho das fundações, e de possibilitar um diagnóstico para uma possível intervenção o mais cedo possível visando proporcionar uma interferência mais simples e de menor custo do que quando diagnosticado posteriormente. Esse trabalho tem como objetivo analisar resultados de monitoramento de recalque realizados em cinquenta e três edificações em diversas áreas do Distrito Federal, e apresentar um mapeamento com recalques obtidos nessas várias áreas. Tem-se ainda o objetivo de informar a todos os empreendedores das áreas a real necessidade do monitoramento, desde o início da obra. Das cinquenta e três projeções estudas neste trabalho em 5,66% do total foi necessário a execução de reforço, sendo em todos os casos a intervenção realizada antes da conclusão da obra, o que demostra importância preventiva do monitoramento de recalque

Fasted exercise does not improve postprandial lipemia responses to different meals in lean and obese subjects : a crossover, randomized clinical trial

Introduction: Persistent episodes of postprandial hyperlipemia (PPL) and hyperglycemia (PPG) are considered risk factors for coronary heart disease (CHD) and premature death; whereas physical exercise improves lipid profile and glucose tolerance thus decreasing cardiovascular risks. Objective: To investigate the effects of low-intensity fasted aerobic exercise on the magnitude of the PPL and PPG responses to meals with different energy content, in normal and obese subjects. Methods: The study used a randomized crossover design. Twenty-one male (Lean: n ¼ 9, BMI: 24.3 ± 2.2; and obese: n ¼ 12, BMI 32.31 ± 2.1) volunteers aged 20e30 years, performed three interventions, separated by 7 days each: (i) 45 min at rest and isocaloric high-fat meal (60% lipids, 30% carbohydrates and 10% protein); (ii) fasted low-intensity aerobic exercise (50% VO2max) for 45 min followed by an isocaloric or (iii) calorie deficit high-fat meal. Subjects were serially assessed for blood triglycerides, and glucose levels. Results and conclusions: Low-intensity fasted aerobic exercise had no acute effect on PPL in lean and obese subjects. Glucose concentrations were reduced only in lean subjects. There is a significant dif- ference in PPL values when comparing lean to obese subjects, implying that the nutritional status in- fluences lipid and carbohydrate after fasted low-intensity aerobic exercise

Neurobiology of Psychopathology and Psychotherapy and practical implications of materialistic view in mind definition

A psicologia passa no momento atual por uma importante mudança de paradigma teórico e conceitual. Essa mudança ficou bastante marcada na década de 90, considerada a "década do cérebro", quando aumentaram significativamente o número de estudos em comportamento que baseavam-se no funcionamento do cérebro. O mainstream das ciências do comportamento retornou à noção monista materialista de que cérebro e comportamento estão intrinsecamente interligados. Essa noção saiu dos laboratórios de pesquisa básica e chegou com força nas pesquisas aplicadas à psicopatologia e à psicoterapia. A presente revisão narrativa tem como principal objetivo traçar um panorama atual desse empreendimento científico, com ênfase nos esforços feitos dentro dasáreas da psicopatologia e da psicologia clínica. Ao final, discute-se até que ponto essa mudança de paradigma pode chegar na prática profissional do psicólogo.Psychology faces nowadays for a major change of theoretical and conceptual paradigm. This change was quite marked in the 90s, which was considered the "decade of the brain" when the number of behavioral studies based on brain functioning significantly increased. The mainstream of the behavioral sciences returned to the monistic materialistic notion that the brain and behavior are inextricably intertwined. This idea came out of basic research laboratories and influenced strongly in applied research in psychopathology and psychotherapy. This narrative review aims to draw up a current view of the scientific enterprise, with emphasis on efforts within the areas of clinical psychology and psychopathology. Este artigo tem como foco discutir as tecnologias de pedagogização da docência presentes no manual: Campos de experiências - efetivando direitos e aprendizagens na Educação Infantil. Entende-se como pedagogização o conjunto de estratégias discursivas por meio das quais se busca decodificar, traduzir e ensinar para os professores de um modo acentuadamente prescritivo e "didático”. A metodologia utilizada é a análise do discurso de inspiração foucaultiana. Os resultados indicam a necessidade de que continuem sendo problematizados os discursos presentes em manuais de formação, pois a docência deveria ser pensada para além de roteiros regulatórios, mas como espaço de criação e invenção.This article discusses pedagogization technologies found in the manual: Campos de experiências - efetivando direitos e aprendizagens na Educação Infantil. This article discusses pedagogization technologies found in the manual: Campos de experiências - efetivando direitos e aprendizagens na Educação Infantil. Pedagogization is understood as the set of discursive strategies through which one seeks to decode, translate and teach teachers in a markedly prescriptive and "didactic" manner. The methodology used is Foucault-inspired discourse analysis. The results reveal the need to continue to discuss the discourses present in training manuals, as teaching should be thought beyond regulatory scripts, but as a space for creation and invention.Este artículo enfoca en discutir las tecnologías de pedagogización de la enseñanza presentes en el manual: Campos de experiências - efetivando direitos e aprendizagens na Educação Infantil. Rising water flow as a factor of organic material importation into caves

The Carlúcio Cave is located on the left bank of the Peruaçu River canyon, in a National Park located in the semiarid zone of Minas Gerais, Southeastern Brazil. Although the Carlúcio Cave is in an unfavorable relief position in terms of material importation into its interior, it harbors an important fossil deposit. This paper sought to investigate such fossil assemblage and describe material importation and deposition events. For that purpose, a survey of the existing fossils was conducted, including a description of the deposition sites and taphonomic signatures. A topographic survey was carried out of representative samples and the deposit chronology was established by means of carbon-14 and uranium-series dating. The fossil assemblage comprises mainly terrestrial epigeal mollusk shells, totaling 1,399 individuals, 70% of which are Drymaeus sp. (Bulimuloidea, Bulimulidae). In addition, 20 bones, 57 vegetal deposition sites, four charcoals, one palm fruit and one corncob were recorded. The cave location and morphology and the deposit’s taphonomic signature indicate that the material was carried upward by the rise in water level (WL) of the Peruaçu River due to episodic barriers to the natural river flow, followed by floating and retention of the material once the WL went gradually down. At least four flood events that reached the Carlúcio Cave were identified in the Peruaçu River canyon during the Holocene. This study provides evidence of a mechanism of material transport and accumulation in the cave caused by the rising water flow in connection with flood events in the river canyon.Key words: Cave deposits, Holocene chronology, fluvial geomorphology, Peruaçu River canyon.Naraščanje nivoja vode kot faktor vnosa organskega materiala v jameJama Carlúcio je na levem bregu kanjona reke Peruaçu v nacionalnem parku na polpuščavskem območju province Minas Gerais v jugovzhodni Braziliji. Čeprav je jama v neugodnem reliefnem položaju glede vnosa materiala, v njej ležijo pomembne fosilne najdbe. Ta članek je poskušal raziskati fosile in opisati dogodke vnosa in odlaganja materiala. Zato smo pregledali obstoječe fosile ter med drugim opisali odlagališča in tafonomske podpise. Izvedli smo topografsko raziskavo reprezentativnih vzorcev ter z določanjem starosti z ogljikom C14 in uranovo serijo vzpostavili depozitno kronologijo. Fosilni ostanki obsegajo predvsem kopenske epigealne mehkužce s 1399 posamezniki, od tega 70 % Drymaeus sp. (Bulimuloidea, Bulimulidae). Poleg tega smo opazili 20 kosti, 57 rastlinskih tališč, štiri oglja, eno palmovo sadje in eno koruzo. Lokacija jame, njena morfologija in tafonomske raziskave sedimentov nakazujejo, da je material odneslo navzgor s porastom nivoja vode reke Peruaçu zaradi epizodnih ovir pri naravnem toku reke. Temu sledi lebdenje in zadrževanje snovi, ko je nivo postopoma upadel. V holocenu smo v kanjonu reke Peruaçu identificirali vsaj štiri poplavne dogodke, ki so segli v jamo Carlúcio. Ta študija dokazuje mehanizem materialnega transporta in akumulacije v jami, ki jo povzroča naraščajoči nivo vode v povezavi s poplavnimi dogodki v rečnem kanjonu.Ključne besede: jamski sedimenti, holocenska kronologija, rečna geomorfologija, kanjon reke Peruçu

Structures and Precautions of the Fundação Nacional do Índio:: Analysis of National Management Reports 2008-2018

The present work aims to analyze aspects of FUNAI management present in its national reports in order to assess the possibilities of action and the precariousness in the state indigenist agency. Considering this objective, the procedures were documental research, for data collection, and content analysis, to understand the data collected. Five categories were highlighted from the reports: People Management, Demarcation and Inspection of Indigenous Lands and Protection of Isolated Indians, Ethnodevelopment and Territorial/Environmental Management, Budget and Execution of the Agency and Licensing and Compensation for Enterprises. Such categories allowed us to conclude that FUNAI, as an official indigenist body, is precarious in many aspects of its management, which prevents it from carrying out actions that are part of its institutional mission
