The herpetofauna of the Serra do Urubu mountain range: a key biodiversity area for conservation in the brazilian atlantic forest

The Serra do Urubu mountain range is considered a key biodiversity area. It is situated in the Pernambuco Endemism Center, one of the most threatened regions of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. However, despite the high importance of this area little research on its herpetofauna has been performed. The present study presents an inventory of the herpetofauna of the region, through bibliographic review, searches in museum collections and field expeditions to the RPPNs Frei Caneca and Pedra D’Antas, in the municipalities of Jaqueira and Lagoa dos Gatos. The conservation status of the amphibians of the region is discussed. Five expeditions, between 2012 and 2013 were made. The methods employed were visual transect surveys, acoustic census and pitfall traps. We recorded a total of 46 amphibian species, belonging to nine families: Craugastoridae (3 spp.), Bufonidae (3 spp.), Ranidae (1 sp.), Hylidae (25 spp.), Leptodactylidae (8 spp.), Odontophrynidae (1 sp.), Hemiphractidae (2 spp.), Phyllomedusidae (2 spp.) and Microhylidae (1 sp.). We recorded 42 species of squamates: 16 species of lizards families Phyllodactylidae (1 sp.), Gekkonidae (1 sp.), Gymnophthalmidae (1 sp.), Polychrotidae (1 sp.), Leiosauridae (1 sp.), Tropiduridae (3 spp.), Dactyloidae (2 spp.), Diploglossidae (2 spp.), Teiidae (2 spp.), Scincidae (1 sp.), and Iguanidae (1 sp.); and 24 species of snakes: Boidae (3 spp.), Colubridae (2 spp.), Dipsadidae (13 spp.), Elapidae (2 spp.), Typhlopidae (1 sp.), and Viperidae (3 spp.). The occurrence of rare and/or threatened species such as the snakes Dipsas sazimai, Lachesis muta and Sibynomorphus sp. and the amphibians Hylomantis granulosa, Chiasmocleis alagoana, Boana freicanecae and Phyllodytes gyrinaethes reinforces the need for conservation measures at this highly threatened region of the Atlantic Forest

O CIBERBULLYING NO ORKUT: A AGRESSÃO PELA LINGUAGEM

Neste trabalho procuramos, inicialmente, definir o que se entende por bullying e ciberespaço, para, então, definir o ciberbullying com o objetivo de tentar compreender a prática desse tipo de crime em um ambiente virtual. Entre os diversos meios nos quais ocorre o ciberbullying, escolhemos focalizar uma comunidade do site de relacionamentos Orkut. Em nossa análise procuramos discutir os modos pelos quais os membros dessa comunidade praticam, através da linguagem, o ciberbullying e criam identidades negativas para os outros. Por último, procuramos levantar as possíveis causas para a prática desse crime e propor algumas soluções

How managerial coaching promotes employees' affective commitment and individual performance

Abstract Purpose: This study sought to provide a more comprehensive understanding of how managers’ coaching skills can affect individual performance through the mediating role of affective commitment. Design/methodology/approach: The sample included 198 employees from diverse organizations. Based on an online survey, respondents assessed their managers’ coaching skills and reported their own individual performance and affective commitment to their organization. Findings: The findings show that managers’ coaching skills have a positive impact on individual performance and affective commitment, with the latter mediating the relationship between the first two variables. Research limitations/implications: Additional studies with larger samples are needed to understand more fully not only the impact of managers’ coaching skills on individual performance but also other psychosocial variables affecting that relationship. Practical implications: Organizations can increase employees’ affective commitment and individual performance by encouraging managers to integrate more coaching skills into their leadership styles. Originality/value: This study is the first to integrate managers’ coaching skills, affective commitment, and individual performance into a single research model, thereby extending previous research on this topic.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

ECONOMIA URBANA E DESENVOLVIMENTO MUNICIPAL NA METADE SUL DO RIO GRANDE DO SUL

O objetivo deste artigo é analisar o dinamismo da economia urbana e o grau de desenvolvimento socioeconômico dos municípios da região Metade Sul do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, no Brasil no período 2006 a 2016. O procedimento metodológico foi a construção de indicadores de centralidade e disparidade do desenvolvimento socioeconômico utilizando dados do Produto Interno Bruto, população, educação, saúde, renda e emprego.  Os resultados apontaram que um conjunto de municípios conseguiu avançar de forma significativa no crescimento econômico, porém isso não resultou em ganhos no nível de desenvolvimento socioeconômico. O êxodo da população e o crescimento de atividades produtivas que tiveram pouco impacto na geração de emprego e renda demonstram a necessidade de políticas públicas mais focalizadas na região.
