A new species of Chrysina Kirby (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Rutelinae), Chrysina porioni Monzón and Hawks, is described from the Sierra del Merendón west of San Pedro Sula, Honduras. This species is very similar to C. ericsmithi (Monzón and Cano), with which it has long been confused.

Cycling habits and other psychological variables affecting commuting by bicycle in city of Madrid

To develop effective cycling policies, decision makers and administrators should know the factors influencing the use of the bicycle for daily mobility. Traditional discrete choice models tend to be based on variables such as time and cost, which do not sufficiently explain the choice of the bicycle as a mode of transportation. Because psychological factors have been identified as particularly influential in the decision to commute by bicycle, this paper examines the perceptions of cycling factors and their influence on commuting by bicycle. Perceptions are measured by attitudes, other psychological variables, and habits. Statistical differences in the variables are established in relation to the choice of commuting mode and bicycle experience (commuter, sport–leisure, no use). Doing so enables the authors to identify the main barriers to commuting by bicycle and to make recommendations for cycling policies. Two underlying structures (factors) of the attitudinal variables are identified: direct benefits and long-term benefits. Three other factors are related to variables of difficulty: physical conditions, external facilities, and individual capacities. The effect of attitudes and other psychological variables on people’s decision to cycle to work–place of study is tested by using a logit model. In the case study of Madrid, Spain, the decision to cycle to work– place of study is heavily influenced by cycling habits (for noncommuting trips). Because bicycle commuting is not common, attitudes and other psychological variables play a less important role in the use of bikes

By sharing their documents many organizationsof boast of trans-parency that does not have. Why?Because the documents are pub-lished in for in which thedata are if not impossible very difficult to analyzed by themain existing exploratory data analysis, eda, software. Forreason it is very important not only to share thedocumentation but to share it in a file format that allowsthe user to analyze them easily. This paper presents theresults of a research conducted to help to solve thisproblem and it has been developed to establish which fileformats must be used to facilitate the use and analysis ofdata shared in open data sets when its used one of the maineda software like is R

Universidad Libre - Facultas de Derecho - Especialización en Derecho Penal y CriminologíaPenalty reductions or punitive discounts for accepting criminal charges are one of the elementary figures of the accusatory criminal system implemented by Law 906 of 2004, which entered into force as of January 1, 2005 in a gradual and staggered manner for each judicial district of the country. However, the way of applying the punitive discounts in the Colombian accusatory criminal system, for accepting criminal charges, is subject to the reimbursement of money made by the defendant. All this by virtue of the confrontation of two Supreme Court of Justice’s judgments that contemplate different parameters regarding this aspect

    Cross-Products LASSO

Negative co-occurrence is a common phenomenon in many signal processing applications. In some cases the signals involved are sparse, and this information can be exploited to recover them. In this paper, we present a sparse learning approach that explicitly takes into account negative co-occurrence. This is achieved by adding a novel penalty term to the LASSO cost function based on the cross-products between the reconstruction coefficients. Although the resulting optimization problem is non-convex, we develop a new and efficient method for solving it based on successive convex approximations. Results on synthetic data, for both complete and overcomplete dictionaries, are provided to validate the proposed approach

Blind analysis of atrial fibrillation electrograms: A sparsity-aware formulation

    Get PDF
The problem of blind sparse analysis of electrogram (EGM) signals under atrial fibrillation (AF) conditions is considered in this paper. A mathematical model for the observed signals that takes into account the multiple foci typically appearing inside the heart during AF is firstly introduced. Then, a reconstruction model based on a fixed dictionary is developed and several alternatives for choosing the dictionary are discussed. In order to obtain a sparse solution, which takes into account the biological restrictions of the problem at the same time, the paper proposes using a Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) regularization followed by a post-processing stage that removes low amplitude coefficients violating the refractory period characteristic of cardiac cells. Finally, spectral analysis is performed on the clean activation sequence obtained from the sparse learning stage in order to estimate the number of latent foci and their frequencies. Simulations on synthetic signals and applications on real data are provided to validate the proposed approach. This work has been partly financed by the Spanish government through the CONSOLIDER-INGENIO 2010 program (COMONSENS project, ref. El presente trabajo de investigación se llevó a cabo a nivel nacional, para lo cual se dividió en 4 regiones: Ø Nor Oriente “Región I” (62 municipios) que comprende los departamentos de: Petén, Baja Verapaz, Alta Verapaz, Izabal, Zacapa y Chiquimula. A cargo de Br. Jorge Oswaldo Gómez Mendoza Ø Centro Oriente “Región II” (86 municipios) que comprende los departamentos de: Guatemala, el Progreso, Jalapa, Sacatepéquez, Chimaltenango y parte alta de Jutiapa y Santa Rosa. A cargo de MEP Juan Carlos Monzón Samayoa Ø Litoral Pacífico “Región III” (68 municipios) que comprende los departamentos de: Retalhuleu, Suchitepéquez, Escuintla, parte baja de Quetzaltenango, San Marcos Santa Rosa y Jutiapa. A cargo de Br. Edgar David Loaiza de Paz Ø Nor Occidente “Región IV” (115 municipios) que comprende los departamentos de: Sololá, Quiché, Totonicapán, Huehuetenango y parte alta de Quetzaltenango y San Marcos. A cargo de P.C. Thelma Yohana Rodas Soto.
