Morphology of Metzgeria conjugata Lindb. (Metzgeriales, Hepaticopsida)

Scanning electron microscopy and light microscopy were used to elucidate the morphology of Metzgeria conjutata Lindb. and confirm the presence of 2 rows of epidermal cells on the dorsal surface, (21-3) rows on the ventral surface, midrib with cells in (3-51-6) tiers; hirsute, short hairs, straight on the thallus-margin and on the ventral surface of midrib; marginal hairs paired, single or in groups of three; male branches globose or subglobose; female involucres obovate and hirsute at the margin, calyptra fleshy, pyriform to club-shaped, hirsute on the outer surface, hairs long and straight

Exclusive glueball production in high energy nucleus-nucleus collisions

The cross sections for the glueball candidates production in quasi-real photon-photon collisions and on central diffraction processes, i.e. double Pomeron exchange, in heavy ion interactions at RHIC and LHC are computed. The rates for these distinct production channels are compared and they may be a fruitful approach to the investigation of glueballs.Comment: 6 pages, 2 tables. Síntese de novos eletrodos de níquel-ferro para baterias de sódio-cloreto metálico

O método utilizou a rota de síntese por combustão, seguido da redução térmica em diferentes temperaturas, objetivando obter materiais com morfologia porosa. Os materiais sintetizados foram caracterizados por meio de difração de raios X, microscopia eletrônica de varredura e voltametria cíclica. Os resultados mostraram que o método de síntese é eficaz na formação de ligas com morfologia porosa, principalmente para os materiais com maior quantidade de níquel. As voltametrias cíclicas sugeriram que esse tipo de morfologia produz materiais com maiores áreas superficiais eletroquimicamente ativas, que pode proporcionar o aumento da capacidade nominal das baterias de sódio-cloreto metálico por grama de material ativo, diminuindo seu custo.A synthesis method to obtain metallic materials withdifferent compositions (Ni, Fe, Ni3Fe1, Ni1Fe1and Ni1Fe3)was developed.The method is based on a combustion synthesis route,followed by thermal reduction atdifferent temperatures (300°C, 400 °C, 500 °C and 600 °C), aiming to obtain materials with porousmorphology (3-D interconnected). The as-synthesizes materials were characterizedby X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and cyclic voltammetry. Results showed that the method was effective in achieving alloyswith porous morphology, mainly for rich-nickel composition materials(Ni and Ni3Fe1). For the richest-iron composition materials (Fe and Ni1Fe3), the porous morphology was not obtained, resulting inagglomerated materials. On the other hand, theNi1Fe1material revealed a mixed morphology, containingpores and agglomerated domains. The bare Ni samples presented pores up to 40 μm, with macropores larger than 100 μm, while the Ni3Fe1ones had pores up to10 μm, without macropores. The cyclic voltammetries suggested that porous morphology leads to higher electrochemical activesurfaceareas, which mayprovide the increase of the nominal capacity of sodium-metallic chloride batteries by gram of active material,decreasing itscost

Low-Power In-Circuit testing of a LNA

A new technique is proposed to tackle in-circuit testing of embedded RF blocks. It relies on observing the cross-correlation between its output voltage and power supply current, using a translinear cross-correlator circuit. Although a structural test is performed, simulation results show that fault detection criteria can be established based on acceptable deviations of performance characterization parameters. Širenje konceptualnih i praktičnih spoznaja o otpornosti malih poljoprivrednih gospodarstava u ruralnim područjima metropolitanske regije Rio de Janeiro u Brazilu

Rural-urban complexity can be seen across the Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Region where land use, and economic and environmental policies have generated conflicts. In this context, agriculture has become juxtaposed with other functions and interests, which has resulted in a mosaic of diversified land use. These rural-urban interactions also provide opportunities to develop different types of knowledge that allow communities to develop resilience in an environment of spatial changes. The aim of this article is to analyse rural change and farming resilience in the Eastern Rio Metropolis, based on primary research undertaken in 2017 and 2018. The results provide useful insights for understanding the nature of rural-urban interactions in a metropolitan countryside that could, in turn, inform policies for promoting local and regional quality food systems and small-scale farming strategies.Ruralno-urbana složenost može se opaziti diljem metropolitanske regije Rio de Janeiro gdje način korištenja zemljišta te ekonomske i ekološke politike izazivaju sukobe. U tom je kontekstu poljoprivreda postala suprotstavljena drugim funkcijama i interesima, što je rezultiralo mozaikom raznolikoga korištenja zemljišta. Te ruralno-urbane interakcije također pružaju mogućnosti za razvoj različitih vrsta znanja koje omogućuju zajednicama da razviju otpornost uslijed prostornih promjena. Cilj je ovoga članka analizirati promjene u ruralnom prostoru i otpornost poljoprivrednika u istočnom dijelu metropolitanskoga područja Rija de Janeira na temelju istraživanja provedenih 2017. i 2018. godine. Rezultati pružaju korisne uvide za razumijevanje prirode ruralno-urbanih interakcija u ruralnim prostorima unutar metropolitanskoga područja koji bi, pak, mogli nadograditi politike za promicanje kvalitetnih lokalnih i regionalnih prehrambenih sustava i malih poljoprivrednih strategija

Mobile application for tracking cycling activity

Dissertação de mestrado integrado em Engenharia InformáticaIn recent decades there has been significant growth in cycling and the use of bicycles as a means of transport and beyond recreational use. Technological advances along with smartphones and web platforms can help cyclists as they consider and plan their routes. This brings several social, economic and environmental benefits. Technology is now present in all aspects of modern life, and that includes cycling. This "technological revolution of cycling" is a phenomenon that attracts more and more attention and a variety of interests, fuelled both by the processes of transition to intelligent mobility and by a growth in attention to cycling in cities around the world. This is where this dissertation comes in, which aims to develop the prototype of a mobile application for cycling urban mobility, more specifically to be used by cyclists as a digital tool to support the various aspects of this form of mobility. This application prototype will have the opportunity to introduce itself in a context that is not much explored yet, being able to allow the cyclist to make a manual tracking or autonomous tracking of his travels, thus making that mobility in that city can be investigated and at the same time improved. It is about thinking of an application that has been designed with a global purpose but has a local behaviour, thus being able to operate in any region that is being used, making it a versatile application without any kind of restriction.Nas últimas décadas tem havido um crescimento significativo no ciclismo e na utilização de bicicletas como meio de transporte e para além do uso recreativo. Os avanços tecnológicos juntamente com os telemóveis e plataformas web podem ajudar os ciclistas enquanto consideram e planejam as suas rotas. Isto traz vários benefícios sociais, económicos e ambientais. A tecnologia está agora presente em todos os aspectos da vida moderna, e isso inclui o ciclismo. Esta "revolução tecnológica do ciclismo" é um fenômeno que atrai cada vez mais a atenção e uma variedade de interesses, alimentada tanto pelos processos de transição para a mobilidade inteligente como por um crescimento de atenção ao ciclismo nas cidades de todo o mundo. É aqui que entra esta dissertação que visa o desenvolvimento do protótipo de uma aplicação móvel para a mobilidade urbana ciclável, mais especificamente para ser usada pelos ciclistas como ferramenta digital de apoio a diversas vertentes dessa forma de mobilidade. Este protótipo de aplicação terá a oportunidade de se introduzir num contexto que ainda não é muito explorado, podendo permitir ao ciclista fazer um rastremento manual ou autônomo das viagens do mesmo, fazendo assim com que a mobilidade naquela cidade possa ser investigada e ao mesmo tempo melhorada.
