Ventilação natural e temperatura da superfície de pisos aquecidos em escamoteadores
This research had the objective of evaluating the influence of the natural ventilation on the surface temperature distribution of heated crates. The research used six crates from a farrowing room in a commercial swine production farm located in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Three crates were heated using a heat mat while the other three had the environment heated by incandescent light bulbs (200W) fixed on the lateral wall. The surface temperature of the crate's floor (1.55x0.55m) was registered in 36 points, distributed in 18 quadrants (0.26x0.18m) using an infrared thermometer in three different conditions of the room's natural ventilation: opened, semi-opened, and closed lateral curtain. The isotherms and the temperature distribution of the floor heat were processed using the SURFER® (1995), and the statistical analysis was done using the MINITAB® (Statistical..., 2002). It was found that the room's natural ventilation had a significant influence on crate floor surface temperature distribution. The crate with a heat mat system provided higher temperatures and led to a more homogeneous surface temperature distribution.O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a influência da ventilação natural sobre a distribuição da temperatura na superfície de pisos aquecidos em escamoteadores. Foram avaliados seis escamoteadores da maternidade de uma granja de suínos localizada no estado de São Paulo. Dentre os escamoteadores avaliados, três deles usavam piso aquecido para o acondicionamento dos leitões, e os outros usavam lâmpadas incandescentes (200W), fixadas na parede lateral do interior do escamoteador. A temperatura da superfície do piso (1,55x0,55m) foi registrada medindo-se 36 pontos distribuídos em 18 quadrantes (0,26x0,18m), por meio de um termômetro infravermelho, em três diferentes condições de ventilação natural: com cortina lateral aberta, semiaberta e totalmente fechada. As isotermas e a distribuição da temperatura sobre o piso aquecido foram processadas usando-se o software SURFER®. Verificou-se que a ventilação natural teve efeito sobre a distribuição da temperatura da superfície do piso dos escamoteadores. O escamoteador aquecido com manta térmica forneceu temperaturas mais altas e distribuição mais homogênea na superfície de contato com os leitões.47748

Random walk on disordered networks
Random walks are studied on disordered cellular networks in 2-and
3-dimensional spaces with arbitrary curvature. The coefficients of the
evolution equation are calculated in term of the structural properties of the
cellular system. The effects of disorder and space-curvature on the diffusion
phenomena are investigated. In disordered systems the mean square displacement
displays an enhancement at short time and a lowering at long ones, with respect
to the ordered case. The asymptotic expression for the diffusion equation on
hyperbolic cellular systems relates random walk on curved lattices to

The structure of typical clusters in large sparse random configurations
The initial purpose of this work is to provide a probabilistic explanation of
a recent result on a version of Smoluchowski's coagulation equations in which
the number of aggregations is limited. The latter models the deterministic
evolution of concentrations of particles in a medium where particles coalesce
pairwise as time passes and each particle can only perform a given number of
aggregations. Under appropriate assumptions, the concentrations of particles
converge as time tends to infinity to some measure which bears a striking
resemblance with the distribution of the total population of a Galton-Watson
process started from two ancestors. Roughly speaking, the configuration model
is a stochastic construction which aims at producing a typical graph on a set
of vertices with pre-described degrees. Specifically, one attaches to each
vertex a certain number of stubs, and then join pairwise the stubs uniformly at
random to create edges between vertices. In this work, we use the configuration
model as the stochastic counterpart of Smoluchowski's coagulation equations
with limited aggregations. We establish a hydrodynamical type limit theorem for
the empirical measure of the shapes of clusters in the configuration model when
the number of vertices tends to . The limit is given in terms of the
distribution of a Galton-Watson process started with two ancestors
Properties of Random Graphs with Hidden Color
We investigate in some detail a recently suggested general class of ensembles
of sparse undirected random graphs based on a hidden stub-coloring, with or
without the restriction to nondegenerate graphs. The calculability of local and
global structural properties of graphs from the resulting ensembles is
demonstrated. Cluster size statistics are derived with generating function
techniques, yielding a well-defined percolation threshold. Explicit rules are
derived for the enumeration of small subgraphs. Duality and redundancy is
discussed, and subclasses corresponding to commonly studied models are

Edge scaling limits for a family of non-Hermitian random matrix ensembles
A family of random matrix ensembles interpolating between the GUE and the
Ginibre ensemble of matrices with iid centered complex Gaussian
entries is considered. The asymptotic spectral distribution in these models is
uniform in an ellipse in the complex plane, which collapses to an interval of
the real line as the degree of non-Hermiticity diminishes. Scaling limit
theorems are proven for the eigenvalue point process at the rightmost edge of
the spectrum, and it is shown that a non-trivial transition occurs between
Poisson and Airy point process statistics when the ratio of the axes of the
supporting ellipse is of order . In this regime, the family of
limiting probability distributions of the maximum of the real parts of the
eigenvalues interpolates between the Gumbel and Tracy-Widom distributions.Comment: 44 page
On Blowup for time-dependent generalized Hartree-Fock equations
We prove finite-time blowup for spherically symmetric and negative energy
solutions of Hartree-Fock and Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov type equations, which
describe the evolution of attractive fermionic systems (e. g. white dwarfs).
Our main results are twofold: First, we extend the recent blowup result of
[Hainzl and Schlein, Comm. Math. Phys. \textbf{287} (2009), 705--714] to
Hartree-Fock equations with infinite rank solutions and a general class of
Newtonian type interactions. Second, we show the existence of finite-time
blowup for spherically symmetric solutions of a Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov model,
where an angular momentum cutoff is introduced. We also explain the key
difficulties encountered in the full Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov theory.Comment: 24 page
Novel synthetic coumarins that targets NF-κB in Hepatocellular carcinoma
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the fifth most common malignant tumor worldwide, and is the third most common cause of cancer related death. Constitutive activation of NF-κB is the underlying mechanism behind tumorigenesis and this protein regulates the expression of genes involved in proliferation, survival, drug resistance, angiogenesis and metastasis. The design of inhibitors which suppress NF-κB activation is therefore of great therapeutic importance in the treatment of HCC. In this study, we investigated the effect of newly synthesized coumarin derivatives against HCC cells, and identified (7-Carbethoxyamino-2-oxo-2. H-chromen-4-yl)methylpyrrolidine-1 carbodithioate (CPP) as lead compound. Further, we evaluated the effect of CPP on the DNA binding ability of NF-κB, CXCL12-induced cell migration and invasion, and the regulated gene products in HCC cells. We found that CPP induced cytotoxicity in three HCC cells in a time and dose dependent manner, and suppressed the DNA binding ability of NF-κB. CPP significantly decreased the CXCL12-induced cell migration and invasion. More evidently, CPP inhibits the expression of NF-κB targeted genes such as cyclin D1, Bcl-2, survivin, MMP12 and C-Myc. Furthermore, the molecular docking analysis suggested that CPP interacts with the p50 binding domain of the p65 subunit, scoring best among the 26 docked coumarin derivatives of this study. Thus, we are reporting CPP as a potent inhibitor of the pro-inflammatory pathway in Hepatocellular carcinoma. © 2014 Elsevier Ltd
Stellar populations of classical and pseudo-bulges for a sample of isolated spiral galaxies
In this paper we present the stellar population synthesis results for a
sample of 75 bulges in isolated spiral Sb-Sc galaxies, using the spectroscopic
data from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and the STARLIGHT code. We find that
both pseudo-bulges and classical bulges in our sample are predominantly
composed of old stellar populations, with mean mass-weighted stellar age around
10 Gyr. While the stellar population of pseudo-bulges is, in general, younger
than that of classical bulges, the difference is not significant, which
indicates that it is hard to distinguish pseudo-bulges from classical bulges,
at least for these isolated galaxies, only based on their stellar populations.
Pseudo-bulges have star formation activities with relatively longer timescale
than classical bulges, indicating that secular evolution is more important in
this kind of systems. Our results also show that pseudo-bulges have a lower
stellar velocity dispersion than their classical counterparts, which suggests
that classical bulges are more dispersion-supported than pseudo-bulges.Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures. Accepted for publication in Astrophysics & Space
