Repetitive Movements in Melon Cultivation Workers under Greenhouses

    Get PDF
Musculoskeletal disorders cause serious problems that affect workers in many sectors. The objective of this study is the ergonomic analysis of melon cultivation farmers in Almeria-type greenhouses. For this, the rapid upper limb assessment (RULA) method has been applied after carrying out a detailed process of observing the farmers’ tasks. The study shows that 65% of the postures have a very-high-risk level, 26% high, 9% average, and no posture is found with a low risk. They also show that in 69.57% of the postures, the upper limbs are less affected than the others such as the neck, trunk, and lower limbs. Measures are proposed to improve the working conditions for workers

A new nonlinear time-domain op-amp macromodel using threshold functions and digitally controlled network elements

    Get PDF
A general-purpose nonlinear macromodel for the time-domain simulation of integrated circuit operational amplifiers (op amps), either bipolar or MOS, is presented. Three main differences exist between the macromodel and those previously reported in the literature for the time domain. First, all the op-amp nonlinearities are simulated using threshold elements and digital components, thus making them well suited for a mixed electrical/logical simulator. Secondly, the macromodel exhibits a superior performance in those cases where the op amp is driven by a large signal. Finally, the macromodel is advantageous in terms of CPU time. Several examples are included illustrating all of these advantages. The main application of this macromodel is for the accurate simulation of the analog part of a combined analog/digital integrated circui

Design of RC-active oscillators using composite amplifiers

    Get PDF
The design of composite opamp Wien-Bridge oscillators is systematically approached by using a general model including amplitude control issues. Two different design criteria are presented and their main features summarized. A general composite opamp topology from which a catalog of structures can be obtained in a systematic way is presented. Experimental data are included illustrating the performance of the proposed design criteria

HCO3- enrichment causes cytosolic NO3- efflux in Posidonia oceanica leaf cells

Posidonia oceanica is a seagrass, the only group of vascular plants to colonize the marine environment. Seawater is an extreme yet stable environment, characterized by high salinity, alkaline pH and low availability of essential nutrients, such as nitrate or phosphate. In addition, in aquatic environments the supply of CO2 for the photosynthesis is limited by diffusion and therefore many aquatic plants use HCO3- as the inorganic carbon source for photosynthesis. Previous results have shown that Na+ -dependent transport systems operate on the plasma membrane of P. oceanica mesophyll leaf cells for the high-affinity NO3-, Pi or amino acids uptake. Also, a direct transport of HCO3- driven by H+ has been found in this species that provides inorganic carbon for photosynthesis and could be a significant component of a carbon concentrating mechanism in this species. Interestingly, this HCO3- direct uptake caused the efflux of chloride from the cytosol, probably through S-type anion channels, pointing that other anions could also be removed from the cytosol. This hypothesis could be relevant in the case of NO3-, since the decrease of cytosolic NO3- in response to HCO3- enrichment could limit N-assimilation. Here we analyse the effect of HCO3- increase on NO3- uptake and cytosolic homeostasis in P. oceanica. Enrichment of natural seawater with 3 mM HCO3- evokes the on-going decrease of cytosolic NO3-, from 5.7 ± 0.2 to 4.8 ± 0.7 mM after 40 min of treatment. The incubation of P. oceanica leaf pieces in 3 mM HCO3- NSW causes an initial increase of NO3- concentration in the medium. Maximum efflux (21 nmol NO3- gFM-1 min-1) occurs within the first minute of incubation. Then, external NO3- is depleted from the medium at lower net uptake rate than the value observed in non HCO3- -enriched natural seawater. These results fit the hypothesis that HCO3- enrichment causes the nitrogen loose and could impair nitrogen assimilation promoting N biomass impoverishment.Universidad de Málaga. The objective of the present research is to develop a methodological overcoming strategy for basketball coaches in the teaching of tactics. Theme of vital importance and relevance to the challenges of modern sport. For the realization of the research a sample of 24 coaches with an average of 14 years in their work as basketball coaches is taken. A systematization of the theoretical foundations that sustain the tactical preparation in basketball is carried out and the strategy is elaborated, which will allow raising the preparation of these professionals, contributing to the acquisition of pedagogical-professional skills.En la presente investigación se plantea como objetivo elaborar una estrategia de superación metodológica para los entrenadores de baloncesto en la enseñanza de la táctica. Este póster foi presentado no congreso "Cork in Science and Applications 2019. New Trends in Cork Innovation: From the Wine Industry to the New Applications" que foi organizado polo Institut Catalá del Suro e que tivo lugar en Palafrugell (Girona) o 22 e 23 de maio de 2019.[Abstract:] The cork contains significant amounts of a biopolymer called suberin (45%). Polymers have been frequently used in the manufacture of hot-mix asphalt (HMA) to improve their properties. At the Universidade da Coruña (UDC), a preliminary investigation was carried out in which the feasibility of using waste cork dust from the manufacture of plugs, as filler in the manufacture of HMA was analyzed. Firstly, the aggregate-binder adhesion was analyzed by means of two types of tests: the boiling water test and the rolling bottle method. The performance of the cork filler was compared with the performance of conventional natural filler. In both tests it was obtained that with the cork filler, the aggregate-binder adhesion was better than with the natural filler. Secondly, a HMA type AC 22 bin S was manufactured, with a bitumen content of 3.8%. Indirect tensile test after immersion in water were conducted, in order to compare the moisture damage resistance of mixtures made with filler cork and natural filler. It was concluded that the filler cork helped to slightly improve the water resistance of the mixture. Although further investigation is needed, it can be stated that the filler cork could replace the conventional natural filler in the production of HMA
