    Get PDF
Se utilizaron tres instrumentos, The Parental Involvement and Efficacy, The Survey-Depression Scale y The Re- vised Conflict Tactic Scale.

Artificial intelligence approaches for the generation and assessment of believable human-like behaviour in virtual characters

Having artificial agents to autonomously produce human-like behaviour is one of the most ambitious original goals of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and remains an open problem nowadays. The imitation game originally proposed by Turing constitute a very effective method to prove the indistinguishability of an artificial agent. The behaviour of an agent is said to be indistinguishable from that of a human when observers (the so-called judges in the Turing test) can not tell apart humans and non-human agents. Different environments, testing protocols, scopes and problem domains can be established to develop limited versions or variants of the original Turing test. In this paper we use a specific version of the Turing test, based on the international BotPrize competition, built in a First-Person Shooter video game, where both human players and non-player characters interact in complex virtual environments. Based on our past experience both in the BotPrize competition and other robotics and computer game AI applications we have developed three new more advanced controllers for believable agents: two based on a combination of the CERA-CRANIUM and SOAR cognitive architectures and other based on ADANN, a system for the automatic evolution and adaptation of artificial neural networks. These two new agents have been put to the test jointly with CCBot3, the winner of BotPrize 2010 competition [1], and have showed a significant improvement in the humanness ratio. Additionally, we have confronted all these bots to both First-person believability assessment (BotPrize original judging protocol) and Third-person believability assess- ment, demonstrating that the active involvement of the judge has a great impact in the recognition of human-like behaviour.MICINN -Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación(FCT-13-7848

Chicozapote ( ) is one of the fruit species that at the moment a great potential has, as much commercial as economic, nevertheless, it is a fruit that quickly deteriorates after the harvest taking place diverse biochemical reactions that take to the nondesirable softening, darkening and other aspects, with the consequent loss of the quality of the fruit, thus diminishing its acceptability, and reducing its life utility. A solution to these problems represents the technology of minimum treatments. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of diverse conservatives and the temperature on the life utility of fractions of chicozapote. For the accomplishment of this work fruits of chicozapote with a degree of acceptable maturity were used (good color, firmness, size, etc.). 50 fractions of gr. of chicozapote were put under the following treatments: 1) solution of CaCl2 to 1%; 2) a solution of CaCl2 to 2%; 3) ascórbico acid solution and acid citrus, both to 1%; and 4) with solution of ascórbico acid 1,0% and citric acid to 0,5%. All with chlorine (200 ppm). They were dried and they stored to 4, 8 and 22 °C., as variable of answer were evaluated: pH, % acidity, water activity, firmness, ºBrix, reducing sugars, acetaldehído, ethanol, microbiological and sensorial analysis. The best treatment was the 1% mixture ascórbico acid and 0,5% of citric acid with storage to 4°C; prolonging the life of useful of the product until by 36 days, conserving pleasant flavor and color within the accepted characteristics of quality, being the technology of minimum treatments a strategy for the conservation and commercialization of chicozapote.chicozapote, life utility, minimumly process, low temperatures, chicozapote, vida útil, mínimamente procesados, bajas temperaturas, Crop Production/Industries, Marketing,

Food Poisoning Caused by Bacteria (Food Toxins)

    Get PDF
In the environment, there are polluting substances that can cause adverse reactions in human beings when entering the body through different ways (ingestion, inhalation, injection, or absorption). The main pollutants can be poisons, chemical compounds, toxic gases, and bacterial toxins. These can be found in different places and their effects depend on the dose and exposure time. Furthermore, foodborne diseases (FBDs) can cause disability; these diseases can be caused by toxins produced by bacteria or other toxic substances in the food, which can cause severe diarrhea, toxic shock syndrome, debilitating infections such as meningitis and even death. FBDs are transmitted through food contaminated with pathogenic microorganisms that have multiple factors of virulence, which gives them the ability to cause an infection; some bacterial genres can produce toxins directly in the food, but other genres can produce them once they have colonized the intestine. Among the pathogens involved in FBDs that are also considered to be toxigenic are Salmonella spp., Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Vibrio cholerae, Staphylococcus aureus, Clostridium botulinum, Clostridium perfringens, Bacillus cereus, Listeria monocytogenes. Foodborne diseases can be prevented and acute diarrhea syndromes, fever and even death from dehydration can be avoided, especially in children under the age of 5 and in immunocompromised people

Cancer is one of the diseases with most deaths worldwide, around 8.2 million annually. For this reason, several treatments and diagnostic tools have been investigated and developed over the past decades. Among them, a dual-image system has been developed to achieve and enhance the detection of cancer, which has not been done with systems currently available. The present study describes the preparation of a dual-image targeting system composed of magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles functionalized with folic acid and rhodamine; nanoparticles synthesis was achieved by a coprecipitation method; the functionalization was carried out by a carbodiimide with folic acid and/or the rhodamine isothiocyanate; conjugates were characterized by spectrometric techniques; toxicity was measured by cell proliferation assay on HeLa cells using progressive concentrations of functionalized nanoparticles. Cellular uptake assay was carried out by competitive assay on HeLa cells. Iron oxide magnetite nanoparticles, modified with folic acid and rhodamine, were successfully synthetized with a particle size lower than 20nm (TEM), EDS, HRTEM, and XDR showed highly crystalline Fe3O4 nanoparticles. Folic acid and rhodamine were conjugated with high efficiency. A significant selectivity and uptake, facilitated by surface modification of iron oxide nanoparticles with folic acid, were demonstrated. The multifunctional system showed suitable physicochemical and biological properties for cell targeting through folate receptors. This study was supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (CRP-F22064, Contract no. 18358) and the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, through Project no. 3543/2013CHT

Generalized Wavelet Fisher’s Information of 1

    Get PDF
This paper defines the generalized wavelet Fisher information of parameter q. This information measure is obtained by generalizing the time-domain definition of Fisher’s information of Furuichi to the wavelet domain and allows to quantify smoothness and correlation, among other signals characteristics. Closed-form expressions of generalized wavelet Fisher information for 1/fα signals are determined and a detailed discussion of their properties, characteristics and their relationship with wavelet q-Fisher information are given. Information planes of 1/f signals Fisher information are obtained and, based on these, potential applications are highlighted. Finally, generalized wavelet Fisher information is applied to the problem of detecting and locating weak structural breaks in stationary 1/f signals, particularly for fractional Gaussian noise series. It is shown that by using a joint Fisher/F-Statistic procedure, significant improvements in time and accuracy are achieved in comparison with the sole application of the F-statistic
