Migrants’ social and labor market outcomes: Paraguayans in Argentina

This paper addresses some factors influencing migrants’ social and labor market outcomes in host countries, focusing particularly on the case of Paraguayan migration to Argentina. In the first decades of the 20th century, Latin America and the Caribbean received 15% of total migrant flows . In Argentina, in 1919, migrants represented 30% of the population, although this proportion diminished in the following decades. The share of migrants has remained around 4.5% to 5% of total Argentine population since 1995—until the 2010 Population Census—while the decline in European migration since the mid-1940s was replaced by neighboring countries’ migrants.Fil: Cortes, Rosalia Alba. Estrategias pedagógicas que permitan potenciar la motricidad fina de los niños

trabajo de gradoCada una de las actividades que se encuentran inmersas en el proyecto de intervención titulado Estrategias pedagógicas que permitan potenciar la motricidad fina de los niños y niñas del centro de desarrollo infantil Guatapurí Valledupar- Cesar. Se busca mejorar la motricidad de los niños y niñas de dicha institución, estas propuestas están dirigidas a niños del grado preescolar con la intención de crear destrezas para dar solución a las dudas detalladas en 20 infantes entre 3 y 5 años. A partir de la metodología de la investigación, se percibe una problemática que afecta a los niños, niñas del centro de desarrollo infantil, donde se desarrolla un diagnóstico para luego por medio de estrategias pedagógicas dar solución a esta; al respecto se observa que la problemática no es nueva, por el contrario, ha existido por mucho tiempo, pero a raíz del confinamiento durante la pandemia del coronavirus, la problemática se agudizó. De allí surgió la pregunta problema de esta intervención pedagógica ¿Cómo potenciar la motricidad fina a través de estrategias pedagógicas en los niños y las niñas del centro de desarrollo infantil Guatapurí? Buscando dar respuesta clara y concisa a esta pregunta se diseñó una planeación didáctica que permitió desarrollar satisfacción en la propuesta y generar una reflexión para identificar los logros obtenidos en la presente intervención. Al finalizar este diplomado de la práctica pedagógica, se reconoce la importancia de la pedagogía como una herramienta que puede brindar soluciones prácticas y eficaces a ciertos problemas que son propios del quehacer pedagógico, lo que permitirá que tanto estudiantes como docentes logren sus metas y competencias mejorando la calidad de la educación y por ende la calidad de vida de los niños y niñas de nuestro país.Each of the activities that are immersed in the intervention project titled Pedagogical strategies that allow enhancing the fine motor skills of the boys and girls of the Guatapurí Valledupar-Cesar child development center. The aim is to improve the motor skills of the boys and girls of said institution. These proposals are aimed at preschool children with the intention of creating strategies to solve the difficulties identified in 20 infants between 3 and 5 years old. From the research methodology, a problem is perceived that affects the children of the child development center, where a diagnosis is developed and then through pedagogical strategies a solution is found; In this regard, it is observed that the problem is not new, on the contrary, it has existed for a long time, but as a result of the confinement during the coronavirus pandemic, the problem became more acute. From there arose the problem question of this pedagogical intervention: How to enhance fine motor skills through pedagogical strategies in the boys and girls of the Guatapurí child development center? Seeking to provide a clear and concise answer to this question, a didactic plan was designed that allowed this proposal to be developed and generate a reflection to identify the achievements obtained in the present intervention. At the end of this diploma in pedagogical practice, the importance of pedagogy is recognized as a tool that can provide practical and effective solutions to certain problems that are typical of pedagogical work, which will allow both students and teachers to achieve their goals and skills by improving the quality of education and therefore the quality of life of the boys and girls of our country

Parasitic helminths and the host microbiome:A missing ‘extracellular vesicle-sized’ link?

Infections by gastrointestinal (GI) helminths have been associated with significant alterations of the structure of microbial communities inhabiting the host gut. However, current understanding of the biological mechanisms that regulate these relationships is still lacking. We propose that helminth-derived extracellular vesicles (EVs) likely represent key players in helminth-microbiota crosstalk. Here, we explore knowledge of helminth EVs with an emphasis on their putative antimicrobial properties, and we argue that (i) an enhanced understanding of the mechanisms governing such interactions might assist the discovery and development of novel strategies of parasite control, and that (ii) the identification and characterisation of helminth molecules with antimicrobial properties might pave the way towards the discovery of novel antibiotics, thus aiding the global fight against antimicrobial resistance

Interleukin-25 induces resistance against intestinal trematodes

Echinostoma caproni is an intestinal trematode that has been extensively used as an experimental model to investigate the factors determining the resistance to intestinal helminths or the development of chronic infections. ICR mice are permissive hosts for E. caproni in which chronic infections are developed, concomitantly with local Th1 responses, elevated levels of local IFN-γ, inflammation and antibody responses. However, mice develop partial resistance to homologous challenge infections after cure of a primary infection, which converts this subject into an adequate model for the study of the mechanisms generating resistance against intestinal helminths. The purpose of the present study was to compare the immune response induced in primary and secondary infections to elucidate the factors determining the different outcome of the infection in each type of infection. The results obtained indicate that susceptibility is determined by the lack of IL-25 expression in response to primary infection. In contrast, infection in an environment with elevated levels of IL-25, as occurs in challenge infection, results in a Th2 phenotype impairing parasite survival. This was confirmed by treatment of naïve mice with exogenous IL-25 and subsequent infection. Changes induced in goblet cell populations and mucin glycosylation could be implicated in resistance to infection

Anexo A Entrevista, Anexo B Responsabilidades y obligacionesResumen En general las pequeñas empresas sienten temor al intentar formalizar sus actividades, porque algunas veces al intentarlo se encuentran con situaciones que no le permiten tomar una decisión que le beneficie. Por esta razón, este trabajo propone elaborar una planeación tributaria para una pequeña empresa con el fin de mostrar que esta herramienta brinda insumos necesarios para fomentar su desarrollo. La propuesta se basó en la revisión y análisis de documentos contables y los relacionados con normatividad tributaria vigente, enfatizando en la norma que soporta las alternativas de régimen tributario que debe tener como referencia la empresa para cumplir con sus responsabilidades fiscales. Finalmente se presentó la planeación tributaria para una pequeña empresa, en esta se evidencia dos clases de régimen tributario, el primero el régimen simple de tributación que tiene como objetivo hacer un llamado a la formalización fiscal a través de la unificación de seis impuestos, la implementación de la factura electrónica e incorporación de la empresa a la base de datos de la administración tributaria. El segundo es el régimen tradicional llamado ordinario de impuesto de renta y complementarios, que involucra también a personas naturales y personas jurídicas dentro del proceso de formalización y beneficio fiscal. Se puede afirmar que la formalización tributaria involucra a personas naturales y empresas que desarrollan actividades que tienen un fin social. Palabras claves: Impuesto, planeación, empresa, formalización y beneficio.Summary In general, small businesses, are afraid of establishing their activities, due to the adversities that do not allow them to make a decision that benefits them. For this reason, this project proposes a tax framework for a small business that brings the resources needed to enhance their growth. The proposal was based on the research and analysis of accounting documents and material related with current tax laws. Emphasizing in the regulation that supports the different tax alternatives that should be considered by the company to meet its fiscal responsibilities. Finally, a tax framework was presented to a small company highlighting two different tax regimes. The first one, a simple taxation regime, aims to stablish the company fiscally by merging six taxes, implementing electronic receipts, and incorporating the company to the tax-administration’s database. The second is the traditional regime, also called the “common income and complements tax”, which involves natural and legal persons in the fiscal formalization and benefit process. Long-term effects of polystyrene nanoplastics in human intestinal Caco-2 cells

The increasing presence of micro- and nanoplastics (MNPLs) in the environment, and their consequent accumulation in trophic niches, could pose a potential health threat to humans, especially due to their chronic ingestion. In vitro studies using human cells are considered pertinent approaches to determine potential health risks to humans. Nevertheless, most of such studies have been conducted using short exposure times and high concentrations. Since human exposure to MNPLs is supposed to be chronic, there is a lack of information regarding the potential in vitro MNPLs effects under chronic exposure conditions. To this aim, we assessed the accumulation and potential outcomes of polystyrene nanoparticles (PSNPs), as a model of MNPLs, in undifferentiated Caco-2 cells (as models of cell target in ingestion exposures) under a relevant long-term exposure scenario, consisting of eight weeks of exposure to sub-toxic PSNPs concentrations. In such exposure conditions, culture-media was changed every 2-3 days to maintain constant exposure. The different analyzed endpoints were cytotoxicity, dysregulation of stress-related genes, genotoxicity, oxidative DNA damage, and intracellular ROS levels. These are endpoints that showed to be sensitive enough in different studies. The obtained results attest that PSNPs accumulate in the cells through time, inducing changes at the ultrastructural and molecular levels. Nevertheless, minor changes in the different evaluated genotoxicity-related biomarkers were observed. This would indicate that no DNA damage or oxidative stress is observed in the human intestinal Caco-2 cells after long-term exposure to PSNPs. This is the first study dealing with the long-term effects of PSNPs on human cultured cells
