    EuFe2_2As2_2 under high pressure: an antiferromagnetic bulk superconductor

    We report the ac magnetic susceptibility χac\chi_{ac} and resistivity ρ\rho measurements of EuFe2_2As2_2 under high pressure PP. By observing nearly 100% superconducting shielding and zero resistivity at PP = 28 kbar, we establish that PP-induced superconductivity occurs at TcT_c \sim~30 K in EuFe2_2As2_2. ρ\rho shows an anomalous nearly linear temperature dependence from room temperature down to TcT_c at the same PP. χac\chi_{ac} indicates that an antiferromagnetic order of Eu2+^{2+} moments with TNT_N \sim~20 K persists in the superconducting phase.     Dalitz plot analysis of the decay B±→K±K±K∓

    We analyze the three-body charmless decay B-+/-->(KKK -/+)-K-+/--K-+/- using a sample of 226.0 +/- 2.5 million B (B) over bar pairs collected by the BABAR detector. We measure the total branching fraction and CP asymmetry to be B=(35.2 +/- 0.9 +/- 1.6)x10(-6) and A(CP)=(-1.7 +/- 2.6 +/- 1.5)%. We fit the Dalitz plot distribution using an isobar model and measure the magnitudes and phases of the decay coefficients. We find no evidence of CP violation for the individual components of the isobar model. The decay dynamics is dominated by the K+K- S-wave, for which we perform a partial-wave analysis in the region m(K+K-)< 2 GeV/c(2). Significant production of the f(0)(980) resonance, and of a spin zero state near 1.55 GeV/c(2) are required in the isobar model description of the data.     The Induction of Tolerance of Renal Allografts by Adoptive Transfer in Miniature Swine

    Our previous in vitro data have demonstrated that regulatory mechanisms are involved in tolerance of class I-mismatched renal allografts in miniature swine treated with 12 days of high dose Cyclsporin A. In the present study, we attempted to induce tolerance of class I-mismatched kidneys by adoptive transfer of cells and/or kidneys from long-term tolerant animals. Fifteen SLA(dd) miniature swine received 1.5 Gy whole body irradiation and class I-mismatched (SLA(gg)) kidneys from naïve pigs with or without co-transplanted kidneys and/or adoptively transferred cells from long-term tolerant (LTT) SLA(dd) recipients of SLA(gg) grafts. Additionally, three SLA(dd) miniature swine received class I mismatched kidney with adoptively transferred cells from LTT SLA(dd) recipients. Naïve kidneys transplanted without a LTT kidney were rejected within 9 days. All recipients of naive kidneys along with cells and kidney grafts from LTT animals showed markedly prolonged survival of the naive renal grafts (day 28, >150 and >150 days). These studies suggest that (1) tolerated kidneys have potent regulatory effects, and (2) cells from LTT animals infused in conjunction with kidney grafts augment these regulatory effects. To our knowledge, these studies represent the first demonstration of successful adoptive transfer of tolerance in large animals
