The role of secondary Reggeons in central meson production

We estimate the contribution of f_2 trajectory exchange to the central \eta and \eta^\prime production. It is shown that secondary Reggeons may give a large contribution to processes of double diffractive meson production at high energy.Comment: 7 pages, Latex, 5 figure

Looking for a gift of Nature: Hadron loops and hybrid mixing

We investigate how coupling of valence q qbar to meson pairs can modify the properties of conventional q qbar and hybrid mesons. In a symmetry limit the mixing between hybrids and conventional q qbar with the same J^PC is shown to vanish. Flavor mixing between heavy and light q qbar due to meson loops is shown to be dual to the results of gluon mediated pQCD, and qualitatively different from mixing involving light flavors alone. The validity of the OZI rule for conventional q qbar and hybrid mesons is discussed.Comment: v2: added important references and discussion of previous literature; results and conclusions unchanged. 8 pages, 2 figure

Production of scalar KKˉK\bar K molecules in ϕ\phi radiative decays

The potentialities of the production of the scalar KKˉK\bar K molecules in the ϕ\phi radiative decays are considered beyond the narrow resonance width approximation. It is shown that $BR(\phi\rightarrow\gamma f_0(a_0)\rightarrow\gamma\pi\pi(\pi\eta))\approx (1\div 2)\times 10^{-5}\ ,\BR(\phi\rightarrow\gamma (f_0+a_0)\rightarrow\gamma K^+K^-)\alt 10^{-6}and and BR(\phi\rightarrow\gamma (f_0+a_0) \to \gamma K^0\bar K^0)\alt 10^{-8}.Themassspectrainthe. The mass spectra in the \pi\pi\ ,\ \pi\eta\ ,\ K^+K^-\ ,\ K^0\bar K^0channelsarecalculated.Theimaginarypartoftheamplitude channels are calculated. It is obtained the phase of the scalar resonance production amplitude that causes the interference patterns in the reaction e^+e^-\rightarrow\gamma \pi^+\pi^-inthe in the \phi$ meson mass region.Comment: 19 pages, revtex, 4 eps files of figure

Exercise redox biochemistry:conceptual, methodological and technical recommendations

    Get PDF
Exercise redox biochemistry is of considerable interest owing to its translational value in health and disease. However, unaddressed conceptual, methodological and technical issues complicate attempts to unravel how exercise alters redox homeostasis in health and disease. Conceptual issues relate to misunderstandings that arise when the chemical heterogeneity of redox biology is disregarded which often complicate attempts to use redox-active compounds and assess redox signalling. Further, that oxidised macromolecule adduct levels reflect formation and repair is seldom considered. Methodological and technical issues relate to the use of out-dated assays and/or inappropriate sample preparation techniques that confound biochemical redox analysis. After considering each of the aforementioned issues, we outline how each issue can be resolved and provide a unifying set of recommendations. We specifically recommend that investigators: consider chemical heterogeneity, use redox-active compounds judiciously, abandon flawed assays, carefully prepare samples and assay buffers, consider repair/metabolism, use multiple biomarkers to assess oxidative damage and redox signalling

Flux Tube Zero-Point Motion, Hadronic Charge Radii, and Hybrid Meson Production Cross Sections

    Get PDF
Flux tube zero-point motion produces quark displacements transverse to the flux tube which make significant contributions to hadronic charge radii. In heavy quark systems, these contributions can be related by Bjorken's sum rule to the rates for semileptonic decay to hybrid mesons. This connection can be generalized to other leptoproduction processes, where transverse contributions to elastic form factor slopes are related to the cross sections for the production of the associated hybrid states. I identify the flux tube overlap integral responsible for these effects as the strong QCD analogue of the Sudakov form factor of perturbative QCD.Comment: 16 pages, revised to clarify some points and to improve and correct the notation for the flux tube wave function

Isoscalar resonances with J^{PC}=1^{--} in e^+e^-annihilation

The analysis of the vector isoscalar excitations in the energy range between 1 and 2 GeV of the e+ee^+e^- annihilation is presented for the final states π+ππ0\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0, ωπ+π\omega\pi^+\pi^-, K+KK^+K^-, KS0K±πK^0_SK^\pm\pi^\mp and K0Kπ++c.cK^{\ast0}K^-\pi^++ c.c. The effects of both the resonance mixing and the successive opening of multiparticle channels, with the energy dependent partial widths, are taken into account. The work extends our previous analysis hep-ph/9609216 of the vector isovector excitations and is aimed to compare the existing data with the predictions of the qqˉq\bar q model. It is shown that this hypothesis does not contradict the data.Comment: 16 pages, revtex, 6 ps figures. Clarifying remarks, a table, and references are added. Accepted in Phys. Rev.

Epsilon Indi Ba/Bb: the nearest binary brown dwarf

We have carried out high angular resolution near-infrared imaging and low-resolution (R~1000) spectroscopy of the nearest known brown dwarf, Eps Indi B, using the ESO VLT NAOS/CONICA adaptive optics system. We find it to be a close binary (as also noted by Volk et al. 2003) with an angular separation of 0.732 arcsec, corresponding to 2.65AU at the 3.626pc distance of the Eps Indi system. In our discovery paper (Scholz et al. 2003), we concluded that Eps Indi B was a ~50Mjup T2.5 dwarf: our revised finding is that the two system components (Eps Indi Ba and Eps Indi Bb) have spectral types of T1 and T6, respectively, and estimated masses of 47 and 28Mjup, respectively, assuming an age of 1.3Gyr. Errors in the masses are +/-10 and +/-7Mjup, respectively, dominated by the uncertainty in the age determination (0.8-2Gyr range). This uniquely well-characterised T dwarf binary system should prove important in the study of low-mass, cool brown dwarfs. The two components are bright and relatively well-resolved: Eps Indi B is the only T dwarf binary in which spectra have been obtained for both components. They have a well-established distance and age. Finally, their orbital motion can be measured on a fairly short timescale (nominal orbital period 15 yrs), permitting an accurate determination of the true total system mass, helping to calibrate brown dwarf evolutionary models.Comment: Accepted for publication by Astronomy & Astrophysics main journal. This replacement version includes minor changes made following comments by the referee, along with a reworking of the photometric data and derived quantities using 2MASS catalogue photometry as the basis, with only a minor impact on the final result

The interference in the reaction e+eγπ+πe^+e^-\to\gamma\pi^+\pi^- and the search for the decay ϕγf0γπ+π\phi\to\gamma f_0\to\gamma\pi^+\pi^-

We describe the interference between amplitudes e+eργπ+πe^+e^- \to \rho \to \gamma\pi^+\pi^- and e+eϕγf0γπ+πe^+e^- \to \phi \to \gamma f_0 \to \gamma\pi^+\pi^-, where f0f_0 meson is considered in the frameworks of the four-quark model and the model of the scalar KKˉK\bar K molecule. The general expressions for the differential cross section with the radiative corrections and two angle cuts are given. The interference patterns are obtained in the spectrum of the differential cross section by the energy of the photon and in the full cross section by the energy of the beams.Comment: 21 pages, revtex, 8 ps files of figure

We perform the analysis of the preliminary data on e+eϕγf0(980)γπ0π0e^+e^-\to\phi\to\gamma f_0(980)\to\gamma\pi^0\pi^0 reaction simultaneously with the data on ππ\pi\pi scattering and reactions J/ψϕπ+πJ/\psi\to\phi\pi^+\pi^- and Kpπ+π(Λ,Σ)K^-p\to\pi^+\pi^-(\Lambda,\Sigma). It is found that the f0(980)f_0(980) meson mass mf0=950m_{f_0}=950 MeV and B(ϕγf0γπ0π0)1104B(\phi\to\gamma f_0\to\gamma\pi^0\pi^0)\simeq1\cdot10^{-4}.Comment: 8 pages, revtex, 3 ps files of figures, minor change
