    Latent membrane protein 1 encoded by Epstein-Barr virus modulates directly and synchronously cyclin D1 and p16 by newly forming a c-JunJun B heterodimer in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell line

    Recently we confirmed that latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1) encoded by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) accelerates a newly forming active c-Jun/Jun B heterodimer, a transcription factor, but little is known about the target gene regulated by it. In this paper, results indicated that a c-Jun/Jun B heterodimer induced by LMP1 upregulated cyclin D1 promoters activity and expression, on the contrary, downregulated p16, and maladjustment of cyclin D1 and p16 expression accelerated progression of cell cycle. Firstly, we found a c-Jun/Jun B heterodimer regulated synchronously and directly cyclin D1 and p16 in the Tet-on-LMP1-HNE2 cell line, in which LMP1 expression is regulated by Tet-on system. This paper investigated in depth function of the newly forming active c-Jun/Jun B heterodimer, and built new connection between environmental pathogenic factor, signal transduction and cell cycle.     Study of the doubly charmed tetraquark T+cc

    Quantum chromodynamics, the theory of the strong force, describes interactions of coloured quarks and gluons and the formation of hadronic matter. Conventional hadronic matter consists of baryons and mesons made of three quarks and quark-antiquark pairs, respectively. Particles with an alternative quark content are known as exotic states. Here a study is reported of an exotic narrow state in the D0D0π+ mass spectrum just below the D*+D0 mass threshold produced in proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The state is consistent with the ground isoscalar T+cc tetraquark with a quark content of ccu⎯⎯⎯d⎯⎯⎯ and spin-parity quantum numbers JP = 1+. Study of the DD mass spectra disfavours interpretation of the resonance as the isovector state. The decay structure via intermediate off-shell D*+ mesons is consistent with the observed D0π+ mass distribution. To analyse the mass of the resonance and its coupling to the D*D system, a dedicated model is developed under the assumption of an isoscalar axial-vector T+cc state decaying to the D*D channel. Using this model, resonance parameters including the pole position, scattering length, effective range and compositeness are determined to reveal important information about the nature of the T+cc state. In addition, an unexpected dependence of the production rate on track multiplicity is observed

    This monographic review of the Nevrorthidae Nakahara, 1915, covers all 19 validly described, extant species worldwide that belong to one of the smallest families of the order Neuroptera. The family embraces four genera: Nevrorthus Costa, 1863 (with five species occurring in the Mediterranean region), Austroneurorthus Nakahara, 1958 (with two species restricted to eastern Australia), Nipponeurorthus Nakahara, 1958 (with 11 species from eastern Asia: Japanese islands, mainland China, Taiwan), and Sinoneurorthus Liu, H. Aspöck & U. Aspöck, 2012 (with one species recorded from mainland China). A comprehensive taxonomical treatment of all extant taxa is presented, including the scant available biological data. Distribution maps for all species are provided. A phylogenetic analysis based on morphological data from both extant and extinct taxa was performed. Austroneurorthus, together with Nevrorthus and some Eocene Baltic amber genera, form a monophylum. The disjunct distribution of modern nevrorthid genera demonstrates the relictual nature of the family and points to a historical biogeography that could have led to the formation of the present distribution pattern.     Chinese herb formulae inhibit the proliferation of human colon cancer SW480 cells by inducing cell apoptosis

    Objective: This study aimed to reveal the antitumor effects of Chinese herbal formulae and the underlying mechanisms in treating colorectal cancer, with a focus on developing traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as a supplement and alternative therapeutic method for cancers. Materials and Methods: Human colon cancer SW480 cells were treated with three Chinese herbal formulae, Bu Zhong Yi Qi Decoction, Fuzi Lizhong Decoction, and Pulsatilla Decoction at different concentrations (50-600 mu g/mL) for 24, 36, and 48 h, respectively. Cell viability was determined using the resazurin reduction assay, and cell survival rate was evaluated using a colony formation assay. After treatment with different concentrations (50-600 mu g/mL) of these three formulae for 48 h, the effects of the Chinese herbal formulae on cell apoptosis were investigated using Hoechst/propidium iodide (PI) staining. The positive PI-stained cells were investigated using an EnSpire multilabel plate reader and the positive Hoechst-stained cells were observed under a fluorescence microscope for morphological changes. Results: Bu Zhong Yi Qi Decoction, Fuzi Lizhong Decoction, and Pulsatilla Decoction inhibited SW480 cell proliferation in a dose-and time-dependent manner and induced cell apoptosis. Conclusion: Chinese herbal formulae with a special prescription form of TCM with antitumor effects bring a new perspective in line with the principles of TCM in cancer treatment
