Psicooncología infantil y adolescente

Due to the world of the oncology is more and more complex, it has been necessary that, the clinical psychologist who takes care of children and adolescents with cancer, get specialized. The peculiarities of the childhood make the treatment of cancer different from the one for adults. The tumours that occur during childhood usually are not the same that those that take place in the adult life. The medical treatment is different. The necessary care might also differ. The follow-up and control of these patients is necessary. Due to their early age, there still are bounded to their parents and family. Their needs as a patients are also different. The psychological intervention –in the different phases of the treatment– of the oncological child and adolescent will have to consider that they are subjects in permanent development. For that reason, they require different methods of psycho-diagnosis and therapeutic approach. As the key moments in the process of the disease are the diagnosis, the treatment and the remission, there is psychological intervention throughout all these phases. For this, it is necessary to develop programs of multidisciplinary work.Debido a que el mundo de la oncología es cada vez más complejo, ha sido necesario que el psicólogo clínico que atiende a niños y adolescentes con cáncer se especialice. Las peculiaridades de la infancia hacen que el tratamiento del cáncer sea diferente al de los adultos. Los tumores que se dan en la infancia no suelen ser los mismos que los que se producen en la vida adulta. El tratamiento médico es distinto. Los cuidados necesarios también suelen diferir. El seguimiento y control de estos enfermos es necesario. Por su temprana edad están todavía muy íntimamente ligados a sus padres, a su familia. Sus necesidades como pacientes también son distintas. La intervención psicológica –en las distintas fases del tratamiento– del niño y del adolescente oncológico tendrá que tener en cuenta que son sujetos que están en desarrollo permanente. Por eso requieren distintos métodos de psicodiagnóstico y de abordaje psicoterapéutico. Como los momentos clave en el proceso de la enfermedad son el diagnóstico, el tratamiento y la remisión, hay intervención psicológica a lo largo de todas estas fases. The Topology of Music Recommendation Networks

We study the topology of several music recommendation networks, which rise from relationships between artist, co-occurrence of songs in playlists or experts' recommendation. The analysis uncovers the emergence of complex network phenomena in this kind of recommendation networks, built considering artists as nodes and their resemblance as links. We observe structural properties that provide some hints on navigation and possible optimizations on the design of music recommendation systems. Finally, the analysis derived from existing music knowledge sources provides a deeper understanding of the human music similarity perceptions.Comment: 15 pages, 3 figure

El Sistema Carcelario Brasileño: una telaraña de violaciones a los derechos humanos

Las cárceles, en cualquier parte del mundo, siguen presentándose como uno de los grandes retos para las sociedades democráticas. Creadas para ejercer una función punitiva, han ido, poco a poco, dando lugar a las ideologías de humanización centradas en la rehabilitación de los reclusos de forma que se inserten en la sociedad. Sin embargo, Foucault recuerda que la prisión moderna “se fundamenta en su papel de aparato para la transformación de los individuos”. En este sentido, ¿cómo lograr su objetivo y a la vez asegurar los derechos de los reclusos? ¿cómo garantizar el respeto a la dignidad en una institución donde el imaginario de justicia se convierte en sinónimo de venganza? De esto se aprehende que son muchos y muy variados los desafíos para mantener las instituciones disciplinarias acordes con los principios democráticos y de respeto a los derechos humanos, especialmente en países en vías de desarrollo. Aún más, si como en el caso brasileño, a la sociedad poco le importa lo que les pase a los reclusos. Ante este contexto, el presente artículo pretende discutir sobre el continuum de violaciones a los derechos humanos practicadas dentro de las cárceles brasileñas, bajo la indiferencia social y la connivencia gubernamental, a pesar de que la legislación internacional y nacional obligue a garantizar los derechos de los detenidos. Para ello se presentan los datos sobre el sistema carcelario brasileño: el cuantitativo de la población carcelaria y su perfil, el déficit de plazas, las malas condiciones de las cárceles, etc. Seguidamente, se discute las leyes que rigen la actuación del Estado brasileño en materia carcelaria. A la vez, se recopilan las informaciones de los principales informes acerca del tema, en los que se evidencian las violaciones más frecuentes. Por fin, se analiza más a fondo la actual realidad carcelaria en Brasil a partir del estudio desarrollado por la Comisión Parlamentaria de Investigación del Sistema Carcelario Brasileño del Congreso de Diputados, concluido el 2008

Retrospective Higher-Order Markov Processes for User Trails

Users form information trails as they browse the web, checkin with a geolocation, rate items, or consume media. A common problem is to predict what a user might do next for the purposes of guidance, recommendation, or prefetching. First-order and higher-order Markov chains have been widely used methods to study such sequences of data. First-order Markov chains are easy to estimate, but lack accuracy when history matters. Higher-order Markov chains, in contrast, have too many parameters and suffer from overfitting the training data. Fitting these parameters with regularization and smoothing only offers mild improvements. In this paper we propose the retrospective higher-order Markov process (RHOMP) as a low-parameter model for such sequences. This model is a special case of a higher-order Markov chain where the transitions depend retrospectively on a single history state instead of an arbitrary combination of history states. There are two immediate computational advantages: the number of parameters is linear in the order of the Markov chain and the model can be fit to large state spaces. Furthermore, by providing a specific structure to the higher-order chain, RHOMPs improve the model accuracy by efficiently utilizing history states without risks of overfitting the data. We demonstrate how to estimate a RHOMP from data and we demonstrate the effectiveness of our method on various real application datasets spanning geolocation data, review sequences, and business locations. The RHOMP model uniformly outperforms higher-order Markov chains, Kneser-Ney regularization, and tensor factorizations in terms of prediction accuracy

Traducció al català de les observacions finals del comitè contra la tortura a Israel

XVIII Jornades de Foment de la Investigació de la Facultat de Ciències Humanes i Socials (Any 2013)En aquest treball s’ha dut a terme la traducció de les observacions finals del Comitè contra la Tortura a Israel del anglès al català. El principal objectiu a banda de la traducció ha sigut crear recursos (una base de dades terminològica i una memòria de traducció) que puguin ser útils per a futurs treballs. En ser aquesta una combinació que no es treballa a les NU no treballen, hem comptat amb l’avantatge que no existien convencions prèvies i hem pogut establir els nostres criteris. Quant a la documentació, s’ha creat un corpus amb l’alineació de la versió en català i en anglès de la Convenció contra la tortura i altres tractes o penes cruels, inhumans o degradants, i també hem recopilat un glossari sobre Israel utilitzant la base de dades terminològica UNTERM. La traducció s’ha realitzat utilitzant el programa de traducció assistida per ordinador MemoQ, que també s’ha utilitzat per a l’alineació dels textos i la creació de les bases de dades terminològiques i la memòria de traducció. Per finalitzar, hem dut a terme una anàlisi dels resultats des del punt de vista de la competència traductora per tal d’observar quines subcompetències ja teníem i quines hem assolit al llarg del treball

The bright outburst of a new black hole candidate: Optical observations of MAXI J1820+070 from the Montsec observatory

The motivation of this thesis is to monitor the data of the 2018 outburst of the black hole candidate MAXI J1820+070. This project combines theoretical background about X-ray binaries with the experimental work done in the process of achieving optical magnitudes using a CCD camera: Telescopi Joan Oró ground based telescope. We present the optical light curves and colours of MAXI J1820+070 during the March-November 2018 outburst. After obtaining the magnitudes, using MAXI and Swift-UVOT as space observatories we extend our range to the X-ray band and study the different states and physical processes that occur in them. Finally, we give physical interpretation of all obtained data and characterize the spectral shape of the infrared, optical, UV and X-ray emission in the different components of MAXI J1820+070 outburst. We conclude that MAXI J1820+070 show the typical properties of a BHT: our results show the canonical BHT states, the disk irradiation changing in the soft state and the linear increase of the R-I colour indicating a cooling of the disk.
