PredicForex. A tool for a reliable market. Playing with currencies

    Get PDF
The Forex market is a very interesting market. Finding a suitable tool to forecast currency behavior will be of great interest. It is almost impossible to find a 100 % reliable tool. This market is like any other one, unpredictable. However we developed a very interesting tool that makes use of WebCrawler, data mining and web services to offer and forecast an advice to any user or broker

Complicaciones tras el enclavado de Ender en las fracturas trocantéreas

    Get PDF
The rate and type of complications following Ender nailing in a series of 100 consecutive patients with trochanteric hip fractures were analysed. There were 75 women and 25 men with a mean age of 81 years. According to Jensen classification, 27% were stable fractures and 73% unstable. There were registered 32% of intraoperative complications and technical errors, 39% of distal migration of nails, 3% of proximal migrations with perforations of the femoral head and 11% of healing malpositions in varus. The rale of reoperations was 21%

This paper offers twenty new Latin inscriptions from the archaeological site of Segobriga (Saelices, Hispania Citerior). Nine of them were discovered during the archaeological excavations that took placed in the Amphitheatre, the West Gate and the North Necropolis between 2013 and 2017. The other items are fortuitous finds coming from the city and its surroundings.

Universal resilience patterns in labor markets

Cities are the innovation centers of the US economy, but technological disruptions can exclude workers and inhibit a middle class. Therefore, urban policy must promote the jobs and skills that increase worker pay, create employment, and foster economic resilience. In this paper, we model labor market resilience with an ecologically-inspired job network constructed from the similarity of occupations' skill requirements. This framework reveals that the economic resilience of cities is universally and uniquely determined by the connectivity within a city's job network. US cities with greater job connectivity experienced lower unemployment during the Great Recession. Further, cities that increase their job connectivity see increasing wage bills, and workers of embedded occupations enjoy higher wages than their peers elsewhere. Finally, we show how job connectivity may clarify the augmenting and deleterious impact of automation in US cities. Policies that promote labor connectivity may grow labor markets and promote economic resilience. This work was supported by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Ministerio de Economia y Competividad (Spain) through Project FIS2016-78904-C3-3-P and PID2019-106811GB-C32

Background study for the pn-CCD detector of CERN Axion Solar Telescope

    Get PDF
The CERN Axion Solar Telescope (CAST) experiment searches for axions from the Sun converted into photons with energies up to around 10 keV via the inverse Primakoff effect in the high magnetic field of a superconducting Large Hadron Collider (LHC) prototype magnet. A backside illuminated pn-CCD detector in conjunction with an X-ray mirror optics is one of the three detectors used in CAST to register the expected photon signal. Since this signal is very rare and different background components (environmental gamma radiation, cosmic rays, intrinsic radioactive impurities in the set-up, ...) entangle it, a detailed study of the detector background has been undertaken with the aim to understand and further reduce the background level of the detector. The analysis is based on measured data taken during the Phase I of CAST and on Monte Carlo simulations of different background components. This study will show that the observed background level (at a rate of (8.00+-0.07)10^-5 counts/cm^2/s/keV between 1 and 7 keV) seems to be dominated by the external gamma background due to usual activities at the experimental site, while radioactive impurities in the detector itself and cosmic neutrons could make just smaller contribution.Comment: Comments: 10 pages, 9 figures and images, submitted to Astroparticle Physic

Purpose: To reduce the upper gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea or oesophageal ulceration as side effects using a half-dose of alendronate as antipagetic treatment. Methods: 15 patients with Paget's disease of bone (6 with monostotic disease and 9 with poliostic disease) received 20 mg alendronate daily for 6 months. The efficacy was determined from measurements of biochemical indices of bone turnover. Results: The mean hydroxiproline excretion decreased by 66+-5% and serum alkaline phosphatase by 51+-5%. This decrease was sufficient to normalize the biochemical indices of bone turnover in all patients with monostotic disease. No patients showed gastrc and oesophageal disturbances. Conclusions: The half-dose alendronate therapy avoid side effects and may be useful for the treatment of Paget's disease, especially in monostotic cases

    Radiopurity of Micromegas readout planes

Micromesh Gas Amplification Structures (Micromegas) are being used in an increasing number of Particle Physics applications since their conception fourteen years ago. More recently, they are being used or considered as readout of Time Projection Chambers (TPCs) in the field of Rare Event searches (dealing with dark matter, axions or double beta decay). In these experiments, the radiopurity of the detector components and surrounding materials is measured and finely controlled in order to keep the experimental background as low as possible. In the present paper, the first measurement of the radiopurity of Micromegas planes obtained by high purity germanium spectrometry in the low background facilities of the Canfranc Underground Laboratory (LSC) is presented. The obtained results prove that Micromegas readouts of the microbulk type are currently manufactured with radiopurity levels below 30 microBq/cm2 for Th and U chains and ~60 microBq/cm2 for 40K, already comparable to the cleanest detector components of the most stringent low background experiments at present. Taking into account that the studied readouts were manufactured without any specific control of the radiopurity, it should be possible to improve these levels after dedicated development.Comment: 15 pages, 2 figure
