Sci-Fi Influence and Impact on Transformers: The Movie

While many people are familiar with Michael Bay’s live-action Transformers films, few people are aware of an animated film released in 1986 that has become iconic in its own way. Transformers is about the Autobots led by the noble Optimus Prime waging their battle to stop the evil forces of the Decepticons, led by the merciless Megatron, from draining our world dry or resources to restore their home world Cybertron. Following the heroic Autobots’ battle with the evil planet-eating Unicron and his enforcer Galvatron (an upgraded Megatron), this film saw the death of several fan favorite characters, including Optimus Prime, in the first act. Given the Transformers franchise’s roots in cultural trends during the 1980s, the 1986 film reflects these trends from its music to the fact it rips off Star Wars. Interestingly, Transformers: The Movie sets trends for not only animated films of its time, but it also leaves an interesting legacy on the Transformers franchise regarding to its story beats. For my project I will investigate what makes this cult classic movie stand out as a part of the Transformers franchise. As a long-time Transformers fan, I am well-versed in the impact of the animated movie and believe this film is unique in how it is influenced by its context. It has a blend of the 1980s context while also doing its own thing such as introducing new characters who are intended to carry the franchise forward such as the planet-eating Unicron or the brash young Hot Rod. I intend to review how the animated film capitalizes on the success of the toy line and how that success influenced certain decisions. For instance, how was the story crafted around the idea of introducing new characters while simultaneously intending to remove older ones

TariScript: Bringing dynamic scripting to Mimblewimble

Mimblewimble is a cryptocurrency protocol with good privacy and scalability properties. A trade-off of Mimblewimble is the requirement that transactions are interactive between sender and receiver. TariScript is presented as an extension to Mimblewimble that adds scripting capabilities to the protocol. We describe the theoretical basis for TariScript and present the modifications required to make it secure. The trade-offs and use cases for TariScript are briefly covered

Criterios sostenibles en arquitectura aplicados a una planta seleccionadora de desechos sólidos en Reque - Lambayeque, para el distrito de Chiclayo

Mi proyecto de Tesis tiene como propósito la sostenibilidad dentro de la arquitectura como primer punto si hablamos de sostenibilidad nos hacemos referencia al impacto que va recaer sobre ello y si menciones la arquitectura nos abocamos al diseño arquitectónico , teniendo en cuenta las materias orgánicas e inorgánicas que tenemos a nuestro alrededor y al funcionar los espacios con el diseño de tal manera nosotros podemos frenar parte del impacto ambiental que se está ocasionando por el acto no cultural que tenemos frente a los desechos sólidos que nos perjudican en nuestro día a día y podemos a través de su buena selección darle una nueva reutilización a esos materiales que serán beneficios para nuevas cosas a futuras uno de los puntos importantes es que estos desechos al no ser dispuestos finalmente corren en riesgo también nuestra salud y en parte a la persona que tienen contacto directamente con ellos que son las principales especies que nos ayudan en un cierto porcentaje derivarlos a los lugares correspondientes. De tal manera nos hacemos la pregunta de investigación ¿En qué circunstancias los criterios de sostenibilidad en la arquitectura son aplicados a un proyecto seleccionador en desechos ubicados en el distrito de reque – Lambayeque para el distrito de Chiclayo? Para poder responder a ella parte de la metodología que se desarrolla es no experimental con un método descriptivo, teniendo en cuenta su enfoque cualitativo basándonos en la recolección de datos vivenciales, determinando tres puntos importantes, recolección, selección y reutilización

Propuesta de una red inalámbrica con un sistema de control de accesos para la Facultad de Ingeniería Civil, de Sistemas y Arquitectura de la Universidad Nacional Pedro Ruiz Gallo - Lambayeque

La presente investigación tiene por objetivo fundamental realizar una propuesta de Red Inalámbrica con un Sistema de Control de Accesos para la Facultad de Ingeniería Civil, de Sistemas y Arquitectura (FICSA) de la Universidad Nacional Pedro Ruiz Gallo – Lambayeque, para lograrlo se realizó un diseño de la red inalámbrica determinando la ubicación física y los tipos de los Access Point y Wireless Lan Controler a utilizar según la infraestructura actual de la FICSA, así mismo se realizará un dimensionamiento de equipos necesarios para el funcionamiento de la red inalámbrica. Para brindar la seguridad en el acceso a la red inalámbrica se utilizará un Sistema de Control de Accesos, a través de un Wireless LAN Controller (WLC), se podrá tener un control en el acceso inalámbrico, para ello se analixaron los factores que influyen en el rendimiento, gestión y seguridad de la red inalambrica. Realizamos un estudio descriptivo, la población y la muestra obtenida estuvo constituida por toda la población FICSA-UNPRG. Para la recolección de datos utilizamos técnicas como encuestas, entrevistas (encargado del gabinete y de la red telemática), levantamiento de los planos del lugar y observación directa a los cinco edificios que conforman la facultad; los formatos que utilizamos fueron cuestionarios con opción múltiple y el análisis de datos obtenidos se procesó mediante un libro de microsoft excel. Finalmente concluimos que esta propuesta de Red Inalámbrica con un Sistema de Control de Accesos para la facultad de Ingeniería Civil, de Sistemas y Arquitectura permitió mejorar los problemas de comunicación que existían entre las diferentes áreas de la facultad, logrando que toda la población tenaga acceso de manera permanente y puedan cumplir eficientemente todas sus labores asignadas

A Critical Evaluation of the Use of Sanctions Clauses in Letters of Credit

With the sharp increase in sanctions-related compliance requirements and expectations over the last decade, banks have sought various methods to mitigate the legal risk of engaging sanctioned persons or entities. The inclusion of so-called sanctions clauses in commercial contracts is one such method. In this article the author explores the use of sanctions clauses specifically in letters of credit, a practice which appears to be gaining ground. More particularly, the article explores the issues associated with the non-documentary nature of sanctions clauses, as well as the question whether the mandate given by the issuing bank to the nominated bank in respect of a letter of credit containing a sanctions clause meets the requirements of a valid contract. The author contends that sanctions clauses militate against conventional letter-of-credit practice and seriously undermine the irrevocable nature of the issuing bank's payment obligations. This is especially the case when a reference is made in a sanctions clause to internal sanctions policies or a discretion of the issuing bank in relation to honouring the credit. Consequently, banks would be well-advised not to use sanctions clauses, but if contemplated, then a reference to internal policies or a discretion of the issuing bank must be avoided at all costs. Modelling and simulation of a pressure swing reactor

Bibliography: leaves 90-93.A Pressure Swing Reactor is a unit designed to incorporate simultaneous reaction and separation into one unit operation. The concept expands on the well-established method of Pressure Swing Adsorption, with the addition of catalyst to allow reaction to take place. The PSR is operated with a four step cycle, according to the Skarstrøm process. This thesis uses a combination of analytical and numerical analyses on a mathematical model of the PSR to characterise the units general behaviour under various conditions
