Immigrants’ Entrepreneurial Opportunities: The Case of the Chinese in Portugal
Why do some foreign nationalities seem to have entrepreneurial initiatives and others don’t? Why do certain foreign communities tend to build an ethnic economy, and others melt in the economy of the reception country? The analysis made so far of the modes of incorporation of the different Chinese immigrant communities in Portugal allowed to evidence that, unlike what some authors defend, it is not only the cultural factors that channel immigrants into certain segments of the labour market. Several structural factors associated to these immigrants’ arrival should be considered: the immigration policy of the host society; the reasons that generated the migratory flow; the existence of a co-ethnic community in the country and its economic incorporation; the operation of social networks; the possibility to acquire capital among the community (informal resources); and the potential market of the host society. Furthermore, in Portugal, as in Southern Europe, the informal economy can be an opportunity to self-employment - not so easy in North European countries where institutional control is stronger and competition is higher.Immigrants, Entrepreneurship, Structural opportunities, Ethnic resources

Introduction: The myofascial trigger points are characterized as hypersensitive local spots that are usually formed within a palpable taut band of skeletal muscle fibers, and they may be described as active or latent. One of the described forms of treatment is the dry needling technique. Objective: To analyze the effect of two dry needling techniques (with and without manipulation) on upper trapezius muscle latent trigger points with comparison to a sham technique. Methods: 26 subjects took part in the study, who was randomly assigned to 3 different groups: sham or placebo, dry needling technique with and without manipulation. All the groups have been assessed for pain and electromyographic pattern before and after treatment and 24 hours later. Results: The present study did not find statistical differences in terms of pain and electromyographic pattern (sEMG) before and after each technique of dry needling and 24h later (pain). Conclusion: The dry needling application, with and without manipulation, did not induce changes on electromyographic pattern and pain threshold, on latent trigger points, in the sample under study.N/
In the meantime or the (ab)use of online accessing during mobility
The recent development of ICT has created conditions for people to be constantly online. These days is common to receive an email ended by a sentence like “sent from my iPhone”, meaning that the sender used his or her cell phone to send it and therefore his or her location is uncertain – could be in a restaurant, at work, at home or even moving. Social interaction, while commuting or travelling, was only possible when people were not travelling alone. Mobile telecommunications changed this scenario bringing the mobile communication to the time-space of dislocation. In recent years the spread of sales of smartphones and iphones has changed the motion scenarios. In what extended is this tendency connected to a leisure practice or to work continuity? Using a set of empirical data that combines the results of two mobility surveys in the Portuguese metropolitan areas, mobile interviews and visual research methods this paper debates the recent evolution of the time-space of mobility. The results allow us to discuss the role of ICT in the mediation of spaces anchor and the diversification of uses of Internet accessing while on mobility
Rethinking cultural democratization projects - Proposal of an Inclusive Framework for Underdeveloped Environments
Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Marketing IntelligenceCultural assets are physical or intangible artifacts that embody humanity’s expressions of individual and collective experience, and supportively contribute to education and knowledge dissemination. Yet,
it is fathomed that “underdeveloped countries” experience a multitude of structural barriers that limit their citizens from accessing these important cultural artifacts.
In pursuits of an interdisciplinary approach, this study first intends to identify the cultural, historical,
and international paradigms that devise these limitations, and pinpoint the existing cultural democratization barriers that these nations withstand. Moreover, it hopes to acknowledge the value of ethical cultural democratization projects and mindful partnerships between organizations,
governments, and institutions as potentiators of equality, and economic and social growth.
That being said, grounded on a Design Science Research Methodology, the main objective of this
research is the construction of an inclusive framework that aids in the democratization of access to
cultural assets in “underdeveloped countries”. Essentially, this artifact should function as an accessible tool that supports decision-makers in the creation of cultural democratization projects, by providing them strategies for problem-solving through innovative approaches and recommending the available technological solutions for mitigating cultural democratization barriers. All throughout contemplating
the capacities and necessities of each setting. Additionally, this study acknowledges the prevailing power dynamics and oppressive colonial control that looms over underdeveloped nations. With that in mind, it entirely rejects the ideals of cultural dominance in favor of supporting the democratic principles of cultural reciprocity
Delta Air Lines valuation
Delta Air Lines is a company within the airlines industry, mainly operating with the transportation of people and cargo.
The purpose of my thesis is to achieve the Enterprise value of Delta Air Lines, by applying different Firm Valuation methodology. With this, it is expected to give a formal opinion on the company’s shares.
The chosen methodologies to perform the valuation model was the Discounted Cash Flows valuation (DCF) and the Multiples model. The DCF valuation was based on four main assumption: number of seats available, number of miles travelled, number of passengers and number of planes. For the Multiples valuation, the information from similar companies within the same industry was used, with the purpose of serving as benchmarked to the DCF model.
In the end, the models created were compared with two different investments reports (Raymond James’ e Cowen’). This comparison yield that all models analysed reached similar share price between 67. Since the company’s shares are currently valued as 64 e 56, existe um parecer favorável quanto à compra de ações da Delta Air Lines
However, if the balance of the normal microbiota is disrupted or the immune defences are compromised a scenario of infection can arise. Invasive candidiasis (IC) is an important health-care associated fungal infection. Therefore, the study of host –pathogen complex interplay is needed to improve the knowledge on how the immune system responds to Candida.Macrophages are key immune cells involved in recognition, phagocytosis and killing of the fungus. The production of antibodies against several C. albicans proteins has also been described during these infections.Proteomics can be used to understand host-pathogen interactions and give information on the protein abundance and on their post translational modifications. Moreover, C. albicans secreted proteins analysis is crucial due to the role of these proteins in interaction with the host and their study using immunoproteomics is useful for the discovery of biomarkers for the diagnosis of IC...Fac. de FarmaciaTRUEunpu
