    Charge localization at the interface between La1-xSrxMnO3 and the infinite layers cuprate CaCuO2

    (CaCuO2)m/(La0.7Sr0.3MnO3)n superlattices, consisting of the infinite layers cuprate CaCuO2 and the optimally doped manganite La1-xSrxMnO3, were grown by pulsed laser deposition. The transport properties are dominated by the manganite block. X-Ray Absorption spectroscopy measurements show a clear evidence of an orbital reconstruction at the interface, ascribed to the hybridization between the Cu 3d3z2-r2 and the Mn 3d3z2-r2 orbitals via interface apical oxygen ions. Such a mechanism localizes holes at the interfaces, thus preventing charge transfer to the CaCuO2 block. Some charge (holes) transfer occurs toward the La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 block in strongly oxidized superlattices, contributing to the suppression of the magnetotransport properties.Comment: 20 pages, 6 figure

    Characterization of VOCs Emitted by Foliage of Grapevine cv. Isabella for Prospecting Innovative Cropping Systems

    Volatile organic compounds play an important role in communication within plants as well as with other organisms. In this work we identified the volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted from the foliage of the grapevine cv. Isabella, a largely known hybrid of Vitis vinifera × Vitis labrusca. Our data show 25 VOCs emitted by cv. Isabella. Different compound classes were found, including alcohols, hydrocarbons, esters, terpenes, ketones, and a green leaf volatile (GLV). The study highlighted differences between volatile profiles for diurnal and nocturnal treatments. The compounds: trans-3-dodecene, 5,5 dibutylnonane, ethyl 2-methyllactate, 2-hexanol, 3-ethyl-2-heptanol, 3-nonanol, and 2-nonanol, have not been previously reported for Vitis vinifera foliage. Notably, eight compounds emitted by cv. Isabella, 1-heptanol, 1-octanol, 2-hexanol, 2-nonanone, β-pinene, camphene, cis-hexenyl acetate, and phenethyl alcohol, are of relevant interest for their role in plant defense. New knowledge on the emission of these compounds in cv. Isabella can help to understand the mechanisms of pathogen tolerance of this genotype and could be an important step in prospecting innovative cropping systems

    En 2017 nos encontrábamos iniciando un proceso comunicacional que derivó en la diagramación de nuestro Trabajo Integrador Final (TIF) de reflexión con el fin de cerrar el camino de la Licenciatura en Comunicación Social, con Orientación en Planificación Comunicacional, de la Facultad de Periodismo y Comunicación Social de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Nuestro objetivo fue diseñar estrategias de comunicación para mejorar y fortalecer a futuro la convocatoria de les participantes del Programa. Fue importante remarcar cuáles eran los sentidos más significativos con la intención de producir nuestra propia postura sobre la relación comunicación/educación/Estado, y delimitar cuál es el rol de les planificadores comunicacionales en el desarrollo e implementación de políticas públicas. En este TIF, plasmamos las reflexiones alcanzadas en la práctica comunicacional que llevamos adelante sobre la política pública universitaria VIVO la UNLP, de la Dirección de Vinculación con el Nivel Medio. Política que busca acercar a les estudiantes del último año de las escuelas secundarias públicas —del Distrito I de la provincia de Buenos Aires— a través de un acompañamiento semanal, realizado por estudiantes universitaries —estudiantes guías—, a los puntos icónicos de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata.Facultad de Periodismo y Comunicación Socia

    UPLAND RICE AGRONOMIC PERFORMANCE IN RESPONSE TO DIFFERENT DOSES AND SOURCES OF NITROGEN

    The aim of the present study was to evaluate the response of different doses and sources of nitrogen (N) on agronomic characteristics in upland rice. The experiments were conducted in the Federal University of Lavras, during 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 crop seasons, the plots consisted of 4 lines of 3 linear meters, with spacing among rows of 35 cm and a useful plot of 4.2 m2. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design with three replications in a 4x4 factorial design. The factor N dose consisted in (0, 50 100 e 200 kg ha-1 N) and the factor N sources consisted in (ammonium nitrate, ammonium sulphate, urea and polycote), totaling 16 treatments. The characteristics evaluated were plant height, grain yield, grain chalkness, 1000 grains weight and yield. It was concluded that the addiction of N doses and different N sources did not change the agronomic performance of the upland rice crop. There is influence of the environment on the responses of plants to nitrogen application, being observed different results in different crop seasons

    AbstractForest species present around 75% of their nutrient demand in the initial growth stage. The objectives of this study were: to determine appropriate doses of N, P and K to be applied for Australian cedar cultivation in Oxisols; and to establish foliar contents suitable for the initial stage of plant development. Three concomitant experiments were carried out using randomized blocks design with four replications. In the first, it was provided 5 doses of N, and in the second 5 doses of P2O5, and in the third 5 doses of K2O. In all three experiments, Australian cedar seedlings were planted at 3x2 m spacing. Maximum economic yield (MEY) was achieved when was provided 75 g N, and 80 g P2O5 per planting hole. In this study, could not be established the dose of K2O that allows MEY, because there was no difference in height and diameter of plants as a function of potassium fertilizer rates. The initial K concentration in the soil (around 100 mg.dm-3) seems adequate to meet the nutritional needs to Australian cedar seedlings. Foliar concentrations did not vary with levels of N, P2O5 and K2O applied to soil. Mean content of N, P and K in the leaves of Australian cedar seedlings were 30, 18 and 2 mg.kg-1, respectively.ResumoSugestões de adubação nitrogenada, potássica e fosfatada para o cedro-australiano em Latossolos. Espécies florestais apresentam cerca de 75% de sua demanda de nutrientes na fase inicial de crescimento. Os objetivos deste estudo foram determinar doses adequadas de N, P e K a serem aplicadas para o cultivo de cedro-australiano em Latossolos e estabelecer os teores foliares adequados para a fase inicial de desenvolvimento da planta. Foram realizados três experimentos concomitantes, em que se aplicaram cinco doses de N no primeiro, cinco doses de P2O5 no segundo e cinco doses de K2O no terceiro. As mudas foram plantadas no espaçamento de 3 x 2 m, no delineamento experimental em blocos casualizados, com quatro repetições. A máxima eficiência econômica (MEY) foi alcançada com a oferta de 75 g de N e 80 g de P2O5 por cova de plantio. Para potássio, não foi possível estabelecer a dose que permite MEY, porque não houve diferença de altura e diâmetro das plantas que receberam doses diferentes do elemento. Portanto, a concentração inicial de K no solo (cerca de 100 mg.dm-3) parece ser adequada para satisfazer as necessidades nutricionais da espécie.     Fractional Spin Excitations in the Infinite-Layer Cuprate CaCuO2

    We use resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) to investigate the magnetic dynamics of the infinite-layer cuprate CaCuO2. We find that close to the (1/2,0) point, the single magnon decays into a broad continuum of excitations accounting for about 80% of the total magnetic spectral weight. Polarization-resolved RIXS spectra reveal the overwhelming dominance of the spin-flip (Delta S = 1) character of this continuum with respect to the Delta S = 0 multimagnon contributions. Moreover, its incident-energy dependence is identical to that of the magnon, supporting a common physical origin. We propose that the continuum originates from the decay of the magnon into spinon pairs, and we relate it to the exceptionally high ring exchange J(c) similar to J(1) of CaCuO2. In the infinite-layer cuprates, long-range and multisite hopping integrals are very important, and they amplify the 2D quantum magnetism effects in spite of the 3D antiferromagnetic Neel order
