Model of integrated territorial assessment for environmental justice applied to sanitation
Equitable access to water and sanitation is still a challenge worldwide and in Brazil. In this sense, the concept of environmental justice was used in this paper as a basis for establishing an Integrated Territorial Assessment Model for Environmental Justice Applied to Sanitation. This research aims to give scientific support for the State Government to improve public policies and promote the universalization of water and sanitation services as established by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This study was based on a quali-quantitative methodology. Secondary data were selected as key information to analyze environmental justice in sanitation, including the following: hydric vulnerability (IV), water supply (WS); untreated sewage collection (SC); sewage collection with treatment (ST); water supply investments (WSI); sewage system investments (SSI); municipal per capita income (MPI); and municipal human development index (MHDI). The data were presented in maps by overlapping the State official regional division and the discussion was carried out based on regional differences and similarities. The repetition of a pattern was noted, in which unfavorable rates were concentrated in the North and Jequitinhonha-Mucuri regions: water vulnerability, sewage system with collection and without treatment, total investment, average investment, per capita income and municipal human development index. Both also have low rates of the sewage system and water supply when compared to others. On the other hand, Zona da Mata and Triângulo regions have favorable rates for hydric vulnerability, sewage system with collection and without treatment and water supply. The Triângulo Mineiro region also presented favorable rates of total investment, average investment, per capita income, and municipal human development index. It is concluded that the inequality between the regions is, initially, of natural origin, and reinforced by the social context and inequality in sanitation investments in the different regions

Effects of short term elastic resistance training on muscle mass and strength in untrained older adults : a randomized clinical trial
Background: The current recommendations on resistance training involving older adults have reported an improvement of body composition variables. Despite this, there is a lack of knowledge on how elastic resistance training (ERT) affects the muscle mass in older adults population. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of a short-term ERT on muscle mass of health and untrained older adults. Methods: Forty older adults were randomized into two groups of 20 individuals each: Control Group (CG = 66.2 ± 6.6 years) and Training Group (TG = 69.1 ± 6.3 years). TG underwent an ERT twice a week during 8 weeks and control group did not receive any specific intervention. The primary outcome was the upper and lower limbs muscle mass, measured by Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry. The secondary outcomes were knee isokinetic peak torque (PT) at 60°/s and 120°/s speeds and isometric handgrip strength. A 2×2 mixed model (group [TG and CG] × time [pre and post]) analysis of variance (ANOVA) was applied to determine the effect on primary and secondary outcomes. Results: The results of the ANOVA showed no significant effects in group x time interaction for (1) upper limbs fat free mass (F [1.38] = 1.80, p = 0.19, effect size [ES] = 0.1) and for (2) lower limbs fat free mass (F [1.38] = 0.03, p = 0.88, ES = 0.02). Regarding muscle strength, the ANOVA showed no significant effects in group x time interaction for (3) PT at 60°/s (F [1.38] = 0.33, p = 0.56, ES = 3.0), for (4) PT at 120°/s (F [1.38] = 0.80, p = 0.38, ES = 4.1) and for handgrip strength (F [1.38] = 0.65, p = 0.42-value, ES = 0.9). Analysis of PT in TG showed a significant change of 4.5 %, but only at 120°/s (p = 0.01) when comparing pre and post-training (time interaction). Conclusions: Eight weeks of ERT did not show significant changes in muscle mass and strength of untrained older adults
Competitiveness and Innovation in the New Products Development Process: A Case Study in a Brazilian Chemical Industry
Demands for higher production capacity and the increasing competition in various sectors of the Brazilian economy have required competitive levels more hard, which demanding tools, techniques and efficient processes. Within moderns business, the new products development process is highlighted as competitive differential in the organizational environment, in a global and intense format. In Brazil, although the researches are becoming frequent, studies on the new products development process has been newness conceptual in the economic sectors and industries. This shows the need for research that takes into consideration the factors considered impactful addressed by business institutions and practices used by them in the new products development process. Thus, this following work aims to present the new product development process in a Brazilian company that operates on the chemical industry, in which we aimed identify the responsible factors for the prominent business/financial success and of products developed by the company
The Solar Twin Planet Search. V. Close-in, low-mass planet candidates and evidence of planet accretion in the solar twin HIP 68468
[Methods]. We obtained high-precision radial velocities with HARPS on the ESO
3.6 m telescope and determined precise stellar elemental abundances (~0.01 dex)
using MIKE spectra on the Magellan 6.5m telescope. [Results]. Our data indicate
the presence of a planet with a minimum mass of 26 Earth masses around the
solar twin HIP 68468. The planet is a super-Neptune, but unlike the distant
Neptune in our solar system (30 AU), HIP 68468c is close-in, with a semi-major
axis of 0.66 AU, similar to that of Venus. The data also suggest the presence
of a super-Earth with a minimum mass of 2.9 Earth masses at 0.03 AU; if the
planet is confirmed, it will be the fifth least massive radial velocity planet
discovery to date and the first super-Earth around a solar twin. Both
isochrones (5.9 Gyr) and the abundance ratio [Y/Mg] (6.4 Gyr) indicate an age
of about 6 billion years. The star is enhanced in refractory elements when
compared to the Sun, and the refractory enrichment is even stronger after
corrections for Galactic chemical evolution. We determined a NLTE Li abundance
of 1.52 dex, which is four times higher than what would be expected for the age
of HIP 68468. The older age is also supported by the low log(R'HK) (-5.05) and
low jitter. Engulfment of a rocky planet of 6 Earth masses can explain the
enhancement in both lithium and the refractory elements. [Conclusions]. The
super-Neptune planet candidate is too massive for in situ formation, and
therefore its current location is most likely the result of planet migration
that could also have driven other planets towards its host star, enhancing thus
the abundance of lithium and refractory elements in HIP 68468. The intriguing
evidence of planet accretion warrants further observations to verify the
existence of the planets that are indicated by our data and to better constrain
the nature of the planetary system around this unique star.Comment: A&A, in pres
Doença de Crohn – novas tecnologias: Crohn disease – new technologies
