La elaboración de un corpus ad hoc paralelo multilingüe

Aquest article presenta una proposta d'elaboració d'un corpus ad hoc paral·lel multilingüe, dividida clarament en una sèrie de fases. També es mostren els avantatges i inconvenients a l'hora de compilar un corpus d'aquestes característiques, incidint sobretot en la fase d'alineació dels bitextos, quelcom imprescindible per aquest tipus de corpus.Este artículo presenta una propuesta de elaboración de un corpus ad hoc paralelo multilingüe, dividida claramente en una serie de fases. Por otro lado, se muestran las ventajas e inconvenientes a la hora de compilar un corpus de estas características, incidiendo sobre todo en la fase de alineación de los bitextos, imprescindible para este tipo de corpus.This article proposes an approach, in clearly distinguished stages, to creating an ad hoc multilingual parallel corpus. It also highlights the pros and cons of compiling such a corpus, in which respect it focuses particularly on the stage of bitext alignment, a crucial aspect where the type of corpus in question is concerned

Análisis de recursos online en inglés para niños: un caso práctico con una propuesta de plantilla de evaluación

Internet provides us, as teachers, with a wide range of tools and resources for practising English in an online environment. However, due to the vast amount of digital resources at our disposal today, and taking into account that not everything found on the net is reliable, we have no other option but to evaluate the resources. On the other hand, on the net we can find several already-created templates for analysing online resources. But, quite often, most of these templates include many indicators that will make the task of evaluating more time consuming, or do not include indicators for assessing the adequacy of the site as far as level, theme and linguistic skills of a foreign language, in our case, English, are concerned. The purpose of this paper is to propose a template enabling ESL or EFL teachers to gather suitable information per online resource and also to analyse some real sites in accordance with the parameters and indicators of the template.Internet nos ofrece a los docentes una gran variedad de herramientas y recursos para practicar inglés en un entorno online. Sin embargo, debido a la gran cantidad de recursos digitales que están a nuestra disposición, y teniendo en cuenta que no todo lo que se encuentra en la red es fiable, no tenemos otra opción que evaluar nosotros mismos estos recursos. Por otro lado, en la red podemos encontrar plantillas creadas para analizar recursos online. Pero, a menudo, muchas de estas plantillas incluyen muchos indicadores que requieren mucho tiempo para su evaluación o bien no contemplan indicadores para evaluar la idoneidad del recurso en lo que respecta a nivel, temática y destrezas lingüísticas de una lengua extranjera, en nuestro caso, inglés. El objetivo de este artículo es proponer una plantilla que posibilite a los docentes de inglés como segunda lengua/lengua extranjera reunir suficiente información de cada recurso digital y analizar también algunos recursos reales de acuerdo con los parámetros e indicadores propuestos en la plantilla

Teaching interpreting in times of Covid: perspectives, experience and satisfaction

[EN] Technological tools have complemented face-to-face instructions at university from the beginning of the 21st century. However, COVID-19 pandemic forced many faculty members to switch rapidly, and without any specific training, to an emergency remote teaching. The aim of this paper is to analyse the impressions of Spanish faculty members teaching interpreting in an online mode. A total of 65 faculty members answered a semi-structured online survey, covering the 80.8% of all the Spanish universities where interpreting subjects are taught. The results revealed some pitfalls derived mainly from the lack of physical issues (booth, body language evaluation), absence of human contact, lack of suitable technology, more teaching hours, cognitive load, lack of concentration, and students monitoring. However, the benefits detected were more self-practice, more attendance to sessions, and the preparation of students for a remote interpreting, taking into account that this will be the future of professional language interpreting practice.[ES] [Las herramientas tecnológicas han complementado la enseñanza presencial en la universidad desde principios del siglo XXI. Sin embargo, la pandemia COVID-19 obligó a muchos profesores a cambiar rápidamente, y sin formación específica, a una enseñanza a distancia de emergencia. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar las impresiones de los profesores españoles que imparten clases de interpretación en línea. Un total de 65 profesores respondieron a una encuesta semiestructurada en línea, que cubría el 80,8% de todas las universidades españolas en las que se imparten asignaturas de interpretación. Los resultados revelaron algunos escollos derivados principalmente de la falta de cuestiones físicas (cabina, evaluación del lenguaje corporal), la ausencia de contacto humano, la falta de tecnología adecuada, el mayor número de horas lectivas, la carga cognitiva, la falta de concentración y el seguimiento de los estudiantes. Sin embargo, los beneficios detectados fueron más autopráctica, más asistencia a las sesiones y la preparación de los alumnos para una interpretación a distancia, teniendo en cuenta que éste será el futuro de la práctica profesional de la interpretación de idiomas.This study was partially carried out in the framework of the projects e-Phone4Life (AEI) (ref. Ruminal Fistulation and Cannulation: A Necessary Procedure for the Advancement of Biotechnological Research in Ruminants

Rumen content is a complex mixture of feed, water, fermentation products, and living organisms such as bacteria, fungi, and protozoa, which vary over time and with different feeds. As it is impossible to reproduce this complex system in the laboratory, surgical fistulation and cannulation of the rumen is a powerful tool for the study (in vivo and in situ) of the physiology and biochemistry of the ruminant digestive system. Rumen fistulation in cattle, sheep, and goats has been performed extensively to advance our understanding of digestive physiology and development, nutrient degradability, and rumen microbial populations. The literature reports several fistulation and cannulation procedures in ruminants, which is not the focus of this paper. However, this method questions the ethical principles that alter the opinions of certain animal groups or those opposed to animal experimentation. In this article, we analyze the objectives of fistulation and cannulation of ruminants and the care needed to ensure that the welfare of the animal is maintained at all times. Due to the ethical issues raised by this technique, several in vitro digestion methods for simulating ruminal fermentation have been developed. The most relevant ones are described in this article. Independently of the procedure, we want to point out that research carried out with animals is obliged by legislation to follow strict ethical protocols, following the well-being and health status of the animal at all timesS
