    On homological reduction of Poisson structures

    Given a g\mathfrak{g}-action on a Poisson manifold (M,π)(M, \pi) and an equivariant map J:M→h∗,J: M \rightarrow \mathfrak{h}^*, for h\mathfrak{h} a g\mathfrak{g}-module, we obtain, under natural compatibility and regularity conditions previously considered by Cattaneo-Zambon, a homotopy Poisson algebra generalizing the classical Kostant-Sternberg BRST algebra in the usual hamiltonian setting. As an application of our methods, we also derive homological models for the reduced spaces associated to quasi-Poisson and hamiltonian quasi-Poisson spaces

    Psychometric properties of the Disordered Eating Attitude Scale for adult men

    OBJECTIVE: To evaluate psychometric properties of the Disordered Eating Attitude Scale (DEAS) for men. METHODS: Two hundred and twenty-eight undergraduate male students (18-39 years old) answered the DEAS, originally developed and validated for women. Internal consistency was evaluated by Cronbach's Alpha; convergent validity by comparing DEAS and the Eating Attitude (EAT) and Restraint Scale (RS) scores using Pearson's coefficient. Test-retest reliability was evaluated with a subsample (n = 38) in a month interval by means of intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). Known-groups validity was obtained comparing scores in DEAS among undergraduate students and men with eating disorders (ED) (n = 28). RESULTS: Internal consistency of scale was 0.63. DEAS score correlated with EAT (r = 0.65) and RS (r = 0.51); ICC between test and retest was 0.948. Known-groups analysis differentiated ED patients and undergraduate students (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: The scale presented adequate psychometric properties and could be used in studies with adult men, since the construct is not explored among males. Nevertheless, it is recommended to revise the scale and to develop specific instruments for male public.OBJETIVO: Avaliar as propriedades psicométricas da Escala de Atitudes Alimentares Transtornadas (EAAT) para o sexo masculino. MÉTODOS: Duzentos e vinte e oito universitários (18-39 anos) responderam à EAAT, originalmente desenvolvida e validada para o sexo feminino. A consistência interna foi avaliada pelo Alpha de Cronbach e a validade convergente, por meio do coeficiente de correlação de Pearson comparando os escores da EAAT, do Teste de Atitudes Alimentares (EAT) e da Escala de Restrição (RS). A reprodutibilidade foi avaliada aplicando a escala numa subamostra (n = 38) com um mês de intervalo utilizando o coeficiente de correlação intraclasse (CCI). A validade known-groups foi obtida comparando o escore dos universitários na EAAT com o escore de homens com diagnóstico de transtornos alimentares (TA) (n = 28). RESULTADOS: A consistência interna da escala foi de 0,63. O escore da EAAT foi correlacionado com a EAT (r = 0,65) e RS (r = 0,51), e o CCI entre o teste e o reteste foi de 0,948. A análise known-groups diferenciou pacientes com TA de estudantes universitários (p < 0,001). CONCLUSÕES: A escala apresentou propriedades psicométricas adequadas e pode ser utilizada em estudos com homens adultos - uma vez que o constructo é pouco explorado em homens.     In vitro biomodels in stenotic arteries to perform blood analogues flow visualizations and measurements: a review

    Cardiovascular diseases are one of the leading causes of death globally and the most common pathological process is atherosclerosis. Over the years, these cardiovascular complications have been extensively studied by applying in vivo, in vitro and numerical methods (in silico). In vivo studies represent more accurately the physiological conditions and provide the most realistic data. Nevertheless, these approaches are expensive, and it is complex to control several physiological variables. Hence, the continuous effort to find reliable alternative methods has been growing. In the last decades, numerical simulations have been widely used to assess the blood flow behavior in stenotic arteries and, consequently, providing insights into the cardiovascular disease condition, its progression and therapeutic optimization. However, it is necessary to ensure its accuracy and reliability by comparing the numerical simulations with clinical and experimental data. For this reason, with the progress of the in vitro flow measurement techniques and rapid prototyping, experimental investigation of hemodynamics has gained widespread attention.     3D digital breast cancer models with multimodal fusion algorithms

    Breast cancer image fusion consists of registering and visualizing different sets of a patient synchronized torso and radiological images into a 3D model. Breast spatial interpretation and visualization by the treating physician can be augmented with a patient-specific digital breast model that integrates radiological images. But the absence of a ground truth for a good correlation between surface and radiological information has impaired the development of potential clinical applications. A new image acquisition protocol was designed to acquire breast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and 3D surface scan data with surface markers on the patient's breasts and torso. A patient-specific digital breast model integrating the real breast torso and the tumor location was created and validated with a MRI/3D surface scan fusion algorithm in 16 breast cancer patients. This protocol was used to quantify breast shape differences between different modalities, and to measure the target registration error of several variants of the MRI/3D scan fusion algorithm. The fusion of single breasts without the biomechanical model of pose transformation had acceptable registration errors and accurate tumor locations. The performance of the fusion algorithm was not affected by breast volume. Further research and virtual clinical interfaces could lead to fast integration of this fusion technology into clinical practice.publishersversionpublishe

    A voltage-based approach for series high impedance fault detection and location in distribution systems using smart meters

    High impedance faults (HIFs) have been a major concern for protecting distribution systems and public safety hazards when involving downed conductors. The deployment of smarter grids brings new technologies for smart monitoring, automation, and protection of distribution networks. This paper presents a new method for a series of HIF detection and location in primary distribution feeders, using voltage unbalance measurements collected from smart meters (SMs) installed at low-voltage end-users. The methodology was tested in MATLAB and Simulink through steady-state simulations of a typical 13.8 kV distribution system, under load unbalance and di erent fault scenarios. Results show that the proposed method is robust and accurate for the detection of blown fuses and broken conductors, with or without ground faults, located either at the source or the load-side. The ease of implementation in SM design, formulation of parameters, and reliable simulation results show potential real-life applications

    Microarray in clinical practice – utility vs complexity. Mixed phenotype of duplication 15q11.2q13.1 and deletion 16p11.2

    Introduction: There’s a consensus to perform chromosomal microarray technique as first-tier clinical diagnostic test for individuals with developmental disabilities. However, given the complexity of clinical presentations, often several diagnostic methods are held before conducting microarray. Method: We report the case of a 5 year-old boy referred to Medical Genetics due to short stature, developmental disabilities and facial dysmorphic features. He was born from eutocic delivery after an uneventful pregnancy. He had psychomotor milestones delayed like sitting at 9 months and walking at 24 months, holding an immature broad-based gait. There was history of learning difficulties from both parents, and the mother has also short stature. On examination it was noted some facial dysmorphic features like high forehead, conical canines and rarefaction of the distal portion of the eyebrows. Due to the history of an episode of transient ataxia, and suspicion of an inherited metabolic disorder, he had already performed various analytical and imaging screenings, all normal. Results: Chromosomal microarray analysis revealed two pathogenic Copy Number Variants (CNV’s): 16p11.2 deletion and 15q11.2q13.1 duplication. The 15q11q13 microduplication syndrome (OMIM # 608636) is a very rare clinical entity with about 30 reported cases with maternal origin, and it is characterized by neurobehavioral disorder, hypotonia, cognitive impairment, epilepsy and short stature. The 16p11.2 microdeletion syndrome (OMIM # 613444) is also a rare clinical entity, with high penetrance, associated with obesity and developmental disabilities. Discussion: Despite the unquestionable utility of microarray, the correlation of the CNV's with the phenotype is often difficult by the rarity of these new microdeletion/duplication clinical entities. In this case the interpretation has increased difficulty because of the simultaneous existence of two distinct clinical entities. Segregation studies, which in the first step include parental analysis, are essential for genetic counseling and determining the risk of recurrence but also for a more accurate correlation genotype-phenotype

    Design and implementation of intelligent packet filtering in IoT microcontroller-based devices

    Internet of Things (IoT) devices are increasingly pervasive and essential components in enabling new applications and services. However, their widespread use also exposes them to exploitable vulnerabilities and flaws that can lead to significant losses. In this context, ensuring robust cybersecurity measures is essential to protect IoT devices from malicious attacks. However, the current solutions that provide flexible policy specifications and higher security levels for IoT devices are scarce. To address this gap, we introduce T800, a low-resource packet filter that utilizes machine learning (ML) algorithms to classify packets in IoT devices. We present a detailed performance benchmarking framework and demonstrate T800's effectiveness on the ESP32 system-on-chip microcontroller and ESP-IDF framework. Our evaluation shows that T800 is an efficient solution that increases device computational capacity by excluding unsolicited malicious traffic from the processing pipeline. Additionally, T800 is adaptable to different systems and provides a well-documented performance evaluation strategy for security ML-based mechanisms on ESP32-based IoT systems. Our research contributes to improving the cybersecurity of resource-constrained IoT devices and provides a scalable, efficient solution that can be used to enhance the security of IoT systems.Comment: 11 pages, under revie

    Larval anatomy of Dendropsophus decipiens (A. Lutz 1925) (Anura: Hylidae: Dendropsophini) with considerations to larvae of this genus

    The Dendropsophus decipiens clade comprises four species: D. berthalutzae, D. decipiens, D. haddadi, and D. oliveirai. Tadpoles of these species were described, but data on their internal morphology are lacking. We provide the first description of the buccopharyngeal anatomy, chondrocranial morphology, and cranial, hyoid and hyobranchial musculature of the tadpole of D. decipiens. Larvae of D. decipiens are characterized by the absence of lingual papillae, presence of fan-like papilla on the buccal floor, presence of a single-element suprarostral cartilage, presence of a small triangular process at the basis of the processus muscularis, m. levator mandibulae lateralis inserted on the nasal sac, and m. subarcualis rectus II-IV with a single, continuous slip. Tadpoles are likely macrophagous, although not as specialized as those of other species of the genus, suggesting some degree of diversification on the feeding habits within Dendropsophus.Fil: Dias, Pedro H.
