    Get PDF
We still need a critical edition and thorough analysis of Cristóbal de Mesa's Rimas. What is more, the author never organized in autonomous form his poems, which were published in different times as an appendix of works he considered more important, such as epic, religious poetry, translations from the classics. The present detailed inventory attempts to offer a contribution to the critcal knowledge of the lyric poet's work

This article studies the creative process of the book Poesías sueltas, written by Antonio Machado, using the methodology of the “Philology Author”. We contemplate the study of unpublished and published sonnets in relation with the proyect of creating an anthology, whose purpose is uncertain. We also delve into the analysis of the Machado’s sonnet “¿En dónde, sobre piedra aborrascada

Digital surface modelling and 3D information extraction from spaceborne very high resolution stereo pairs

This report discusses the potentials of VHR stereo imagery for automatic digital surface modelling (DSM) and 3D information extraction on large metropolitan cities. Stereo images acquired by GeoEye-1 on Dakar and Guatemala City and by WorldView-2 on Panama City, Constitucion (Chile), Kabul, Teheran, Kathmandu and San Salvador were processed following a rigorous photogrammetric approach. The work focusing on evaluating the quality of the DSMs in relation to the image and terrain characteristics and, among the possible DSM’s application, present a solution for buildings height estimation. The size of the datasets, the variety of case studies and the complexity of the scenarios allow to critically analyzing the potentials of VHR stereo imagery for 3D landscape modeling for natural hazards assessment.JRC.G.2-Global security and crisis managemen

SiSMI Project–Technologies for the Improvement of Safety and the Reconstruction of Historic Centres in the Seismic Area of Central Italy

The project SISMI-Tecnologie per il miglioramento della Sicurezza e la ricostruzione dei centri Storici in area sisMIca (technologies for the improvement of safety and the reconstruction of historic centres in the seismic area)–aims to provide tools and methods for risk reduction and seismic improvement of Lazio’s cultural assets and centres, causing research, intervention policies, and planning to interact in order to support reconstruction choices and foster dialogue with local parties and enterprises. One of the SISMI project’s main elements of innovation consists of preparing modes of integration of knowledge and assessments relating to the various components of a territory’s vulnerability and seismic hazard that can be used in other seismic territories. SISMI project, tested in seismic territories of Central Italy, is a methodology of integrated, multidimensional, and transdisciplinary investigation, in the conviction that the safety of the territory and of historic and cultural assets is the result of a dynamic risk reduction process capable of guaranteeing and promoting the local communities’ resilience, in which both physical/structural and sociocultural elements collaborate

Hareport hazard: Identifying hare activity patterns and increased mammal–aircraft strike risk at an International Airport

Abstract Reported strike events between wildlife and aircraft are hazardous to aircraft and airfield operations and are increasing globally. To develop effective mitigation strategies, the relative hazard a species poses to aircraft, as well as information relating to its life history, are key to the development of effective mitigation strategies in Wildlife Hazard Management Plans. However, given the complex nature of airfield environments with access restrictions and the presence of sensitive equipment, the collection of high‐quality ecological data can be difficult. Here we use motion‐activated camera traps to collect activity data on a population of Irish hares (Lepus timidus hibernicus) inhabiting the airfield at Dublin International Airport, to investigate the link between hare activity and aircraft activity in relation to hare strikes. Camera traps revealed that the hare population at the airfield largely displayed a bimodal crepuscular activity pattern, with activity peaking at sunrise and at sunset. Recorded hare strike times at the airfield were closely associated with hare activity times with a high temporal overlap between these datasets. In comparison, hare activity and aircraft movement activity had a moderate overlap across all seasons, with strikes peaking at times with low aircraft movements. We demonstrate the importance of understanding the circadian and seasonal activity patterns of hazardous species at airfields for targeted strike mitigation
