Session-based concurrency: between operational and declarative views

Communication-based software is ubiquitous nowadays. From e-banking to e-shopping, online activities often involve message exchanges between software components. These interactions are often governed by protocols that explicitly describe the sequences of communication actions that should be executed by each component. Crucially, these protocols are not isolated from a program’s context: external conditions such as timing constraints or exceptional events that occur during execution can affect message exchanges. As an additional difficulty, individual components are typically developed in different programming languages. In this setting, certifying that a program conforms to its intended protocols is challenging. A widely studied program verification technique uses behavioral type systems, which exploit abstract representations of these protocols to check that the program executes communication actions as intended. Unfortunately, the abstractions offered by behavioral type systems may neglect the influence that external conditions have on the program. This thesis addresses this issue by considering programming languages with declarative features, in which the governing conditions of the program can be adequately described. Our work develops correct translations between programming languages to show that languages with declarative features can indeed articulate a unified view of communication-based programs. Specifically, these translations demonstrate that the operational features of communication-based programs can be correctly represented by languages with declarative features. An additional contribution is a hybrid language that combines the best of both worlds, enabling the analysis of operational and declarative features in communication-based programs

Mathematics and nutritional status: a proposal for the development of research skills

In the last two decades of the 20th century and the first of this, the academic community has been reflecting about girls and boys as scientists. Some authors propose thinking the activity scientific as an activity cognitive that looks like what the children and girls make in the world that surrounds them. Within this approach, the development of scientific skills can assimilate to certain specific thinking skills of research processes. This work has as objective the development of a didactical proposal in the area of mathematics for the development of skills cognitive, starting from processes of research on the nutritional status of the girls and the boys, driving concepts as Index of Mass Body and Carving for the Age. The work was carried out with sixth grade students of education basic of the educative institution Felix Henao Botero of the city of Medellin, in Colombia. The area of mathematics was the base for the development of this project that also sought that the student acquires the basic skills of the course in the mathematical thinkings required for the grade. The paper presents the theoretical basic approaches in that it is supported the project, the structure of the intervention made, as well as the results obtained in front of the skills that they can develop

Análisis del uso de la fiducia mercantil de administración y fuente de pago como herramienta de financiación para pymes en Colombia

El presente trabajo analiza el uso que se ha dado en Colombia a la Fiducia de administración y fuente de pago, especialmente por parte de las Pymes, parte de una descripción del tipo de fiducia y de las Pymes en sí y explora los principales aspectos que rodean este tipo de negocio fiduciario. Se enfoca en los aspectos operativos, contables, tributarios y legales del negocio y muestra las posibles ventajas que puede la Pyme obtener de él. El trabajo pretende ampliar el conocimiento sobre la Fiducia de administración y pagos, busca fortalecer nuestras competencias laborales y llamar la atención, a través de la academia, de los pequeños y medianos empresarios, así como de emprendedores, de las posibilidades que ofrecen este tipo de esquemas fiduciarios. La investigación es de carácter cuantitativo y se apoya en fuentes secundarias de información como fuentes bibliográficas y trabajos de investigación anteriores. El trabajo muestra las ventajas principales que este tipo de negocio tiene para las entidades de crédito y para las Pymes como acreedores de los anteriores y concluye la forma en que este tipo de negocio se está usando actualmente en el país y las posibilidades que ofrece a los Fideicomitentes, en este caso las Pymes, al momento de necesitar este tipo de negocios.This work analyzes how Merchant Administrative Trust has been used as a source of payment especially for Small Business, beginning with a description of this type of trust and the environment of Small Businesses. It focuses in operative aspects, as well as in accounting, tax and legal issues of the Merchant Administrative Trust business and shows the possible advantages Small Business could obtain from it. This work aims to extend the knowledge of the Merchant Administrative Trust business seeks to strengthen job skills and call our attention, through academia, for small and medium entrepreneurs, about the potential of such schemes trust. This research investigation is made in a quantitative way and it gets support from secondary sources of information such as bibliographic and other works of investigation. This work shows the principal advantages that Merchant Administrative Trust business can offer as credit entities and for Small Businesses as creditors. It also concludes how this type of business is being carried out and the possibilities it brings to Small Businesses

Medellín imaginada desde la televisión. Los imaginarios en la serie de televisión “Muchachos a lo Bien”

Es innegable que la representación de la ciudad que aparece en los relatos audiovisuales tiende al estereotipo (la imagen de moda, los personajes de Medellín que aparecen en otras series de televisión, modelos, traficantes), sobretodo en los videos más vistos, los más impactantes. Y no es por asuntos temáticos, sino por asuntos de tratamiento y de narrativas; hasta de imaginarios. Es decir, las piezas audiovisuales tienden al mismo contenido. Sin embargo, para esta investigación, partimos del supuesto: la narrativa de “Muchachos a lo Bien” tiende a romper estos estereotipos y a presentar identidades más diversas que la mayoría de las narrativas propuestas en otras piezas.It is undeniable that the representation of the city that appears in the stories audiovisual tends to stereotype (the image of fashion, the characters in Medellin that appear in other television series, models, traffickers), especially in the videos most viewed, the most shocking. Sessions multi-parties réactives

Ensuring that communication-centric systems interact according to an intended protocol is an important but difficult problem, particularly for systems with some reactive or timed components. To rise to this challenge, we study the integration of session-based concurrency and Synchronous Reactive Programming (SRP). We propose a process calculus for multiparty sessions enriched with features from SRP. In this calculus, protocol participants may broadcast messages, suspend themselves while waiting for a message, and also react to events. Our main contribution is a session type system for this calculus, which enforces session correctness in terms of communication safety and protocol fidelity, and ensures two time-related properties that we call output persistence and input timeliness. Our type system departs significantly from existing ones, specifically as it captures the notion of logical instant typical of SRP.Assurer que les systèmes centrés sur la communication interagissent en accord avec un protocole donné est un problème important et difficile à résoudre, en particulier lorsque certains composants de ces systèmes sont réactifs ou temporisés. Pour relever ce défi, nous étudions l’intégration de primitives de la programmation réactive synchrone (PRS) dans les calculs de sessions. Nous proposons un calcul de sessions multi-parties enrichi avec des fonctionnalités typiques de la PRS. Dans ce calcul, les participants d’une session peuvent diffuser des messages, se suspendre dans l’attente de messages, et également réagir à des événements. Notre contribution principale est un système de types pour ce calcul, qui garantit deux propriétés classiques des calculs de sessions : l’absence d’erreurs de communication et la conformité au protocole. De plus, ce système de types assure deux propriétés liées au temps, que nous appelons “persistance des outputs” et “gestion sans latence des inputs”. Notre système de types se démarque de façon significative des systèmes de types de session existants, en particulier en ce qu’il rend compte de la notion d’instant logique qui est caractéristique de la PRS

E - LIFE (red de momentos)

El proyecto está enmarcado en la creación de empresa. Se basa en un modelo de negocio innovador a partir de la propuesta de una aplicación digital que utiliza como principal herramienta de funcionamiento la red Internet. La aplicación tiene como principal característica el poder permitir al usuario tener una retrospectiva de su vida y organizar una prospectiva de la misma, dándoles a todos los eventos que éstas generan, una temporalidad real. De esta manera se genera una nueva dimensión a la manera de compartir dichas experiencias, potenciando las opciones que en la actualidad ofrece el mercado. Dicha retrospectiva pretende generar en el usuario un autoreconocimiento que le de la capacidad de proyectarse de mejor forma ante los demás. Mientras que la prospectiva quiere lograr que los usuarios tengan una herramienta donde puedan organizar lo que quieren lograr en un futuro y de qué manera pueden llegar a hacerlo. Al poder determinar de manera temporal los comportamientos de las personas (resultado que genera la aplicación), se pueden proponer modelos de tendencias con alto grado de exactitud sin necesidad de hacer estudios de mercado que conllevan períodos de tiempo prolongados y costos que no se pueden cubrir muchas veces. El sistema de recolección de datos que se deriva de la aplicación, da información en menor tiempo y enmarca ésta en un lenguaje llamativo, didáctico y de fácil estudio.
