possamos compreender a importância do desenvolvimento
Emocional.
The work we developed in Viseu has as main goal to
evaluate the Emotional Intelligence of the Special Education
Teachers, who work with handicapped children and teenagers
in Public Basic and Secondary Schools.
This perspective aims to understand which variables
can influence the Emotional Intelligence of Special Education
Teachers. This way we can understand the importance of
developing this concept in self-management of emotions and
in the construction of inter and intra personal relationships,
leading to a greater effectiveness of these professionals within
the school.
This is a transversal, correlational and descriptive
study.
We apply a scale, the “EQ-map ", which allowed us
to evaluate the Emotional Quotient of a group of teachers in
Special Education specializing in mental and motor areas,
visual and hearing impaired. We also did interviews with the
aim of understand the perceptions that the Special Education
Teachers have on Emotional Intelligence and the results are in
line with those found by the questionnaire.
Our main results show that Emotional Intelligence in
our sample is located mostly in vulnerability levels and need
for attention, which varies inversely with Life Occurrences
and General Health and positively with the Quality Life and
Satisfaction, Relationship Quotient and Optimal Performance
Modelling time-varying volatility interactions
In this paper, we propose an additive time-varying (or partially time-varying) multivariate model of volatility, where a time-dependent component is added to the extended vector GARCH process for modelling the dynamics of volatility interac tions. In our framework, co-dependence in volatility is allowed to change smoothly between two extreme states and second-moment interdependence is identified from these crisis-contingent structural changes. The estimation of the new time-varying vector GARCH process is simplified using an equation-by-equation estimator for the volatility equations in the first step, and estimating the correlation matrix in the second step. A new Lagrange multiplier test is derived for testing the null hypothesis of
constancy co-dependence volatility against a smoothly time-varying interdependence between financial markets. The test appears to be a useful statistical tool for evaluating the adequacy of GARCH equations by testing the presence of significant changes in cross-market volatility transmissions. Monte Carlo simulation experiments show that the test statistic has satisfactory empirical properties in finite samples. An application
to sovereign bond yield returns illustrates the modelling strategy of the new specification.Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT
Context sensitive user interfaces
This paper presents a conceptual design model for user interfaces (MASS1) and a general formalism for dialogue specification (Interaction Scripts) which are the most important components of an approach to the methodological, iterative design of Interactive Systems from formal, model-based specification of both the application and the User Interface (UI).
This approach allows the integration of both dialogue and application semantics from the beginning of the design process, by using prototypes derived from both specifications. Assuming that all the application semantics is available at early design stages, the MASS model defines a set of guidelines that will enforce the designer to create user interfaces that will present a prophylactic instead of the usual therapeutic behaviour. By a prophylactic behaviour it is meant, metaphorically, that the UI will exhibit a behaviour that prevents and avoids both syntactic and semantic user errors, in contrast with the most usual therapeutic, or error recovery, behaviour.
The dialogue specification formalism(Interaction Scripts) despite being general, in the sense that it may be applied to the specification of any kind of dialogue, is specially suited to the specification of UIs with the behaviour prescribed by the MASS design model. In addition, it is independent from concrete environment details, therefore allowing for different implementations of the same specification, that is, different looks and feels. The operational semantics of the Interaction Script notation is also presented in terms of Petri-Nets that are automatically generated from the Interaction Script specification of the dialogue controller
Assim, pretendemos conhecer a
holisticamente.
utilizámos a estatística descritiva e inferencial.
Através desta investigação verificámos que
76.70% dos inquiridos apresentam QDV superior e que
23.30% QDV inferior.
Abstract
Varicose ulcer is an extreme situation, responsible
for a high rate of morbidity and psychological and physical
pain. Given this fact, we felt the urge to prospect the Life
Quality and Pain Status on patients suffering from varicose
ulcer of the lower limbs. We aim to establish the Life Quality
Status (LQS) on patients suffering from varicose ulcer of the
lower limbs by identifying the conditions which affect it the
most.
The understanding of the LQS of these patients is
a research area which can only be meaningful from a holistic
point of view. This project stands on establishing whether or
not the social and demographical variables as well as clinical
context have a relation with the LQS of patients on patients
suffering from varicose ulcer in some municipalities in the
District of Viseu. It is a transversal project of quantitative
nature, which aims to evaluate the LQS of these patients
though a descriptive and analytical process. We used a
convenient non probabilistic sample by means of a
questionnaire, containing scales and questions enabling us to
depict the sample. For a proper treatment of the collected data
we used inferential and descriptive statistics.
The sample consists of 103 individuals, being 54
female and 49 male with an average age of 66.62 years. We
have been able to establish that the LQS is affected by age,
pain, functionality within the family and economical condition. Men have a higher LQS, as well as individuals less
than 61 years of age. Widowers and individuals with
economical conditions of Type I have the highest LQS.
76.70% of the individuals have a higher LQS, contrasting with
the 23.30% who have a lower LQS.
We have concluded that the variables pain, age,
apgar, and grafar are predictor of the patient’s LQS decreasing
the influence of each of the stated variables from pain, which
is the most influential
This article presents an analysis of the first phase in Peter Handke’s work. It focuses on a theoretical concept developed by Handke to highlight his filmic sentence. Upon analysis of several of his works, it appears that this aesthetic sensibility pervaded his theater, his novels, his debut as a filmmaker and the scripts he wrote in collaboration with Wim Wenders. As an interpretative summary of his work, the paper defends the existence of a link between the practice of ekphrasis and the emergence of an intermedial dramaturgy, in which the writing gesture needs to reinvent itself between languages borders, media, new technologies and materialities.L’article présente une analyse de l’ensemble de la première phase de l’oeuvre de l’écrivain Peter Handke.
Common volatility shocks driven by the global carbon transition
We propose a novel approach to measure the global effects of climate change news on financial markets. For that purpose, we first calculate the global common volatility of the oil and gas industry. Then we project it on climate-related shocks constructed using text-based proxies of climate change news. We show that rising concerns about the energy transition make oil and gas share prices move at the global scale, controlling for shocks to the oil price, US and world stock markets. Despite the clear exposure of oil and gas companies to carbon transition risk, not all geoclimatic shocks are alike. The signs and magnitudes of the impacts differ across climate risk drivers. Regarding sentiment, climate change news tends to create turmoil only when the news is negative. Moreover, the adverse effect is amplified by oil price movements but weakened by stock market shocks. Finally, our findings point out climate news materialises when it reaches the global scale, supporting the relevance of modelling geoclimatic volatility.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
