The goal of the following thesis is to analyze to what extent the strategies of such political
actions of the Rural Workers Unions of Petrolina/PE and Juazeiro/BA, more specifically from the political agendas of such unions, has had the capacity to act taking into consideration the demands and specific doubts regarding rural female workers. For this, we take into consideration the work conditions which they are submitted to, as their perceptions, forms of resistance, and collective claims. Supported by the methodology of qualitative analysis, this research was developed based on extensive field work, focused substantially, on direct observation, the performance of interviews with semi structured and structured scripts, and also documented research. The text is composed of five chapters, in order to articulate the empirical questions and theoretic and conceptual discussions which privilege the relations between genre, work, and collective action
engenharia e arquitetura no Brasil.
The usage of a material as a structural and constructive element is influenced by factors such
as traditions and patterns of a society. Linked to these factors we have the research and
technology development of the material, based on the structure study in engineering and
architecture schools, the facility and economic viability of his need. In Brazil, materials such as
concrete, steel and wood have different use and different development since the last century.
Regarding wood as a structure material there has not been an intense use of it in buildings in
any place in Brazil. On the other hand, whereas metallic structure and reinforced concrete are
possible to use results and researches done abroad, wood has another reality from a technical
and technological point of view. In Europe there are less than twenty species of wood but in
Amazon rainforest there are about three thousand species of wood. Therefore to be designed
structure with wooden species found in these regions it is necessary to know their physical and
mechanical characterization besides their durability, pathology and maintenance. Facing this
situation, wood as a construction material is still handled in a traditional and empirical way.
The use of wood in a rational way depends on extensive studies for identification, classification
and characterization of the species. But there is a fundamental difference between a research
project that involves thousands of wood species, as the Brazilian research and a research project
that only includes less than twenties species, as the European reality. In Brazil, a research
project that is focused in development and use of wood has to consider the amount of woods
species – the Amazon Forest. Researches of this nature, especially in tropical forests, are
difficult and costly because of the need for forest inventories, the collection of specimens and
subsequent characterization and laboratory testing. Thus a feasible and alternative proposal to
this reality is to use a Database of Woods Materials of the Amazon that were characterized in
the last thirty years, using the Pan-American Standards Commission (COPANT). The database
is the result of an extensive research aimed at the characterization of two hundred and fifty
species from a consistent random sampling for rainforests. This research has not had its
information handled nor its results analyzed until 2016 at University of Brasília, even though it
was completed almost a decade ago. These researches are available and were conducted by the
Forest Products Laboratory – FPL of the Ministry of Environment. Therefore, the objective is
to create a mathematical statistical model from the database which can accurately estimate the
properties and other characteristics of non-classified species. It is possible through this
xiv
mathematical statistical model not only to accurately estimate other mechanical and physical
properties but also to infer about wood characteristics that are fundamental for other uses

In this study we evaluated the in vitro antileishmanial activity of 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3 triazole compounds and carried out in silico predictive study of their pharmacokinetic and toxicity properties. Ten compounds were analyzed, with compound 6 notably presenting IC50: 14.64 ± 4.392 µM against promastigotes, IC50: 17.78 ± 3.257 µM against intracellular amastigotes, CC50: 547.88 ± 3.256 µM against BALB/c peritoneal macrophages, and 30.81-fold selectivity for the parasite over the cells. It also resulted in a remarkable decrease in all the parameters of in vitro infection. Ultrastructural analysis revealed lipid corpuscles, a nucleus with discontinuity of the nuclear membrane, a change in nuclear chromatin, and kinetoplast swelling with breakdown of the mitochondrial cristae and electron-density loss induced by 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazole treatment. In addition, compound 6 enhanced 2.3-fold the nitrite levels in the Leishmania-stimulated macrophages. In silico pharmacokinetic prediction of compound 6 revealed that it is not recommended for topical formulation cutaneous leishmaniasis treatment, however the other properties exhibited results that were similar or even better than miltefosine, making it a good candidate for further in vivo studies against Leishmania parasites.publishersversionpublishe

Acrocomia aculeata potential in the Endogenous Development of Cuiabá Region, Brazil
Aiming to verify this potential, the population of native A. aculeata and its cultivation potential were estimated, as well as identifying the nutritional benefits and the chemical characteristics currently exploited in the main consumer center of the region. Traders of the fruit and its derivatives were interviewed. As a result, there is an estimated annual production of 38.7 billion fruits from native palms, and 224.3 billion annual fruits from cultivation. Though the estimations indicate the viability of the profiteering, only five business establishments trade the fruit and its derivatives in Cuiabá, indicating that the potentiality of the fruit, although existing, is not fully exploited
The expansion of export agribusiness in Latin America leads to a growing feminization of the workforce. However, women are incorporated in this sector under unfavorable conditions- occupying low-skilled, low-income and temporary jobs. This article intends to investigate the precariousness of the working and living conditions of women who work as wage earners in San Francisco Valley (Brazil) and in Elqui/Limarí Valley (Chile) grape export sector, putting forward an analysis that integrates both the sphere of production and reproduction. The aim of this article is to contribute to identify the existing interconnections between productive and reproductive universes, as well as the main mechanisms implemented by companies for extracting surplus value and outsourcing costs to households.

Cytotoxicity and Effects of a New Calcium Hydroxide Nanoparticle Material on Production of Reactive Oxygen Species by LPS-Stimulated Dental Pulp Cells
Introduction: The aim of this study was to synthesize and characterize calcium hydroxide (CH) nanoparticles [CH-NP] and compare the cytotoxicity of these materials with that of mineral trioxide aggregate (White MTA) in human dental pulp mesenchymal cells (hDPMCs) stimulated by lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Methods and Materials: The CH-NP were synthesized by the co-precipitation method, and the physical properties were investigated through X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive x-ray spectrometry (EDS). LPS-stimulated hDPMCs were placed in contact with different dilutions of culture media previously exposed to CH-NP and white MTA for 24 h. The groups were tested for cell viability by MTT formazan and Alamar Blue assays, the production of nitric oxide (NO) by Griess method and the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by means of the fluorescent oxidant-sensing probe 2’,7’-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate (DCFH-DA). Control groups for viability test were maintained in DMEM (not LPS-stimulated). For NO and ROS production, negative control group was cells in DMEM, and positive control was cells stimulated by LPS. The results were statistically analyzed by two-way ANOVA, Tukey’s test and Dunnett’s test (ɑ=0.05). Results: The results showed that the cell viability remained above 50% in all materials, independent of the dilution in MTT formazan and Alamar Blue tests. MTA showed a reduction in NO production at dilutions of 1:4 to 1:32 compared with the positive control group (P<0.05). The tested materials exhibited lower ROS production by DPMCs than that by cells in the positive control group (P<0.05), and similar ROS production to the negative control group (P>0.05). Conclusion: The outcomes of present in vitro study showed that MTA and [CH-NP] were not cytotoxic materials, with MTA closer to the results of control group (DMEM). MTA and [CH-NP] reduced ROS production at basal levels, with MTA inhibiting NO production at higher dilutions
Osseous oral hyaline ring granuloma mimicking a mandible tumor in a child with congenital agenesis of the corpus callosum
Hyaline ring granuloma (HRG) of the oral cavity is an uncommon disorder considered to be a foreign-body reaction resulting from implantation of food vegetable particles. Microscopically, it is characterized by the presence of structures of hyaline rings in an inflamed fibrous tissue background, which contains multinucleated giant cells.
We present the case of a 4-year-old boy diagnosed with a mandible osseous HRG, which showed clinical and tomographic aspects suggestive of an aggressive bone tumor.
The patient underwent surgical exploration and histopathologic analysis showed fragments composed predominantly of widespread dense connective tissue with an acute and chronic inflammatory infiltrate containing multinucleated giant cells and scattered areas of eosinophilic material associated with hyaline rings, strongly suggestive of vegetable particles. The eosinophilic material was positive for periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) and resistant to diastase digestion. These features led to diagnosis of osseous HRG. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis was performed for illustrative purposes and the multiple structures resembling vegetable particles were characterized in more detail.
Although rare, this case highlights the importance of the clinician’s awareness regarding the existence of an osseous counterpart of HRG
