A EVOLUÇÃO DOS INDICADORES DA EDUCAÇÃO SUPERIOR BRASILEIRA NO PERÍODO 2003 A 2013: DADOS E RESULTADOS DAS POLÍTICAS PÚBLICAS IMPLEMENTADAS

O último decênio, período de 2003 a 2013, foi marcado por profundas transformações na educação brasileira. Nesse período, o orçamento do Ministério da Educação do Brasil (MEC) triplicou, passando de R$34,9 bilhões para R$ 109,2 bilhões, em valores corrigidos monetariamente. Em termos de percentual de investimento público total em educação em relação ao Produto Interno Bruto (PIB), que passou de 4,5% em 2003 para 5,7% em 2009, e para 6,4% em 2012, sobre um PIB 68% maior. De fato, o orçamento do Ministério da Educação cresceu, em valores atualizados, 205,7% no referido período. Neste contexto de aumento real do investimento em educação na década, este trabalho se propõe a apresentar as principais políticas públicas para a educação superior planejadas e desenvolvidas no período, bem como acompanhar o desenvolvimento dos principais indicadores que possibilitam realizar uma análise sobre a evolução da educação superior brasileira. Este trabalho aborda os principais indicadores da educação superior brasileira: número de matrículas na graduação, mestrado e doutorado; número de universidades públicas e de câmpus; financiamento da educação superior; recursos para assistência estudantil; avaliação da educação superior; bolsas de mestrado e doutorado; e produção científica. Analisamos ainda o alcance expansão e os desafios ainda existentes

Impact of seasonality on the inbound and outbound freight of a global fertilizer company

The growing importance of agriculture in the Brazilian economy makes it essential that agricultural companies seek to increase their logistics competitiveness. This study aimed to compare and analyze the impact of seasonality of grain harvest and specific events, such as the 2018 Brazil truck drivers’ strike, on the prices of inbound and outbound freight in a multinational company located in several Brazilian states. It focused on the CIF (Cost, Insurance, and Freight) routes of the company between 2015 and 2019 in Brazil, and the relationship between time of year and cost of transportation. These data were analyzed in a descriptive level after being treated by statistical analysis. Utilizando LOTOS na concepção formal de uma aplicação para gerência de redes : Especificação e verificação

Este trabalho apresenta um estudo sobre a aplicação da técnica de descrição formal LOTOS na concepção formal de um sistema para gerência de redes denominado Gateway CMIP-SNMP. São apresentados os resultados obtidos durante o trabalho de descrição formal do sistema em LOTOS e durante o desenvolvimento das tarefas de análise, simulação, teste e verificação. Devido ao uso de dados, principalmente para a tarefa de verificação, variadas restrições são impostas pelas ferramentas utilizadas. Darcy Ribeiro e a UnB : a universidade necessária no século XXI

Este livro é uma homenagem à Universidade de Brasília, que em 2022 completa 60 anos, e a Darcy Ribeiro, um de seus mais importantes idealizadores e fundadores, que faria cem anos. Quinze ensaios escritos por estudantes da UnB sobre Darcy Ribeiro e a universidade necessária compõem este volume, que é resultado de edital conjunto da UnB e do Conselho Editorial do Senado (Cedit). Os textos desta coletânea projetam as vozes de estudantes, em um exercício que investiga os efeitos do pensamento e da ação de Darcy Ribeiro na jornada da Universidade de Brasília, as transformações pelas quais ela passou e aquelas que promoveu. Que vozes poderiam ser mais lúcidas que essas para colocar em perspectiva a história da Universidade? São vozes plurais que reiteram, de forma uníssona, o compromisso da UnB com a construção de soluções para os desafios do país e do mundo – fossem os passados, sejam os presentes. A qualitative study exploring the process of postmortem brain tissue donation after suicide

Access to postmortem brain tissue can be valuable in refining knowledge on the pathophysiology and genetics of neuropsychiatric disorders. Obtaining postmortem consent for the donation after death by suicide can be difcult, as families may be overwhelmed by a violent and unexpected death. Examining the process of brain donation can inform on how the request can best be conducted. This is a qualitative study with in-depth interviews with forty-one people that were asked to consider brain donation—32 who had consented to donation and 9 who refused it. Data collection and analyses were carried out according to grounded theory. Five key themes emerged from data analysis: the context of the families, the invitation to talk to the research team, the experience with the request protocol, the participants’ assessment of the experience, and their participation in the study as an opportunity to heal. The participants indicated that a brain donation request that is respectful and tactful can be made without adding to the family distress brought on by suicide and pondering brain donation was seen as an opportunity to transform the meaning of the death and invest it with a modicum of solace for being able to contribute to research

DOENÇAS CRÔNICAS EM PACIENTES COM TRANSTORNOS MENTAIS

Este estudo objetivou identificar os portadores de transtornos mentais graves que apresentam Hipertensão Arterial ou de Diabetes Mellitus. Trata-se de uma pesquisa documental, exploratória e descritiva realizada com 146 pessoas atendidas no Centro de Atenção Psicossocial II do município de Três Lagoas, MS, no período de maio de 2013 a maio de 2014. Utilizou-se um formulário contendo variáveis de caracterização e condição de saúde, que conduziu a coleta dos dados por alunos bolsistas e voluntários do Programa de Educação por meio do trabalho para a saúde. Os resultados apontaram 15 pessoas com transtorno mental grave, dos quais 5 apresentavam hipertensão, 6 diabetes e 4 ambas as doenças crônicas. Observou-se a escassez de registro relacionado a hipertensão e/ou diabetes, constituindo em alerta para o registro profissional de todos os aspectos relacionados a saúde do doente mental. Este aspecto contribui na busca de uma efetiva atenção integral à saúde, abarcando todos os seus aspectos, seja da saúde física ou mental, incluindo ações como o acompanhamento do uso e da administração de medicamentos, do nível pressórico e glicêmico, bem como de sua alimentação, atividade física e evolução das manifestações de comportamento relacionada à saúde. Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis in pediatric patients: A case report and literature review

Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XGPN) is a rare and severe variation of chronic pyelonephritis characterized by suppurative destruction of renal parenchyma and its substitution with chronic inflammatory infiltrate. Male, 8 years old, admitted to the pediatric urology service at 7 years of age, with bladder and renal lithiasis. First symptoms started when he was 2 years old but presented no relapse until he turned 7 years old. During two years he had recurrence of renal lithiasis and underwent multiple surgical procedures. He remained asymptomatic for a short period of time and when presented fever and urinary symptoms again and underwent CT scanning that demonstrated left kidney enlargement associated with calculi and air bubbles in its interior, suggesting xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis. Uretherostomy was performed and the patient had good clinical improvement. Renal exclusion was documented through scintigraphy and total left nephrectomy was performed, with a large amount of pus drained. Histopathology confirmed XGPN diagnosis. One year after surgery, there has been no recurrent renal lithiasis or urinary tract infection. Despite being a rare condition in children, XGPN has great importance as it can be often confused with pediatric renal tumours. Early diagnosis is important in order to promote better survival and clinical outcomes

Pervasive gaps in Amazonian ecological research

Biodiversity loss is one of the main challenges of our time,1,2 and attempts to address it require a clear un derstanding of how ecological communities respond to environmental change across time and space.3,4 While the increasing availability of global databases on ecological communities has advanced our knowledge of biodiversity sensitivity to environmental changes,5–7 vast areas of the tropics remain understudied.8–11 In the American tropics, Amazonia stands out as the world’s most diverse rainforest and the primary source of Neotropical biodiversity,12 but it remains among the least known forests in America and is often underrepre sented in biodiversity databases.13–15 To worsen this situation, human-induced modifications16,17 may elim inate pieces of the Amazon’s biodiversity puzzle before we can use them to understand how ecological com munities are responding. To increase generalization and applicability of biodiversity knowledge,18,19 it is thus crucial to reduce biases in ecological research, particularly in regions projected to face the most pronounced environmental changes. We integrate ecological community metadata of 7,694 sampling sites for multiple or ganism groups in a machine learning model framework to map the research probability across the Brazilian Amazonia, while identifying the region’s vulnerability to environmental change. 15%–18% of the most ne glected areas in ecological research are expected to experience severe climate or land use changes by 2050.
