Building on teachable moments: issues for teacher education

    Get PDF
This work is supported by national funds through FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, under the projects Professional Practices of Teachers of Mathematics (Grant PTDC/CPE-CED/098931/2008) and PEst-C/MAT/UI0144/2011, and by FEDER funds through COMPETESeveral authors have given attention to the notion of didactical knowledge, which is not consensual (Ponte, in press). We consider didactical knowledge as being related to aspects of teachers’ practices, “essentially oriented towards action” (Ponte, 1999, p. 61), and involving four dimensions: knowledge of the curriculum, knowledge of mathematics, knowledge of students and their learning processes, and knowledge instructional processes in the classroom (Ponte & Oliveira, 2002). The didactical knowledge has a dynamic character because the experiences teachers encounter in their practice constantly shape it (Ponte & Santos, 1998).FC

Teatro Corporativo e Estratégias Espetaculares: em Busca de uma Abordagem Dramatúrgica

    Get PDF

The J/ψDDJ/\psi D D Vertex in QCD Sum Rules

The J/ψDDJ/\psi D D form factor is evaluated in a QCD sum rule calculation for both DD and J/ψJ/\psi off-shell mesons. We study the double Borel sum rule for the three point function of two pseudoscalar and one vector meson current. We find that the momentum dependence of the form factors is different if the DD or the J/ψJ/\psi meson is off-shell, but they lead to the same coupling constant in the J/ψDDJ/\psi D D vertex.Comment: 11 pages, Latex, 4 eps figure

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of diets containing silages of forages that are adapted to the semi-arid environment on the characteristics of the carcass and of non-carcass components of 32 mixed-breed lambs at approximately six months old, with an average live weight of 17.61 ± 2.63 kg. Lambs were assigned to four treatments (diets containing silages of Atriplex nummularia Lind, Cenchrus ciliaris, Gliricidia sepium and Manihot sp.) in a completely randomized design with eight replicates. Animals fed the diet containing old man saltbush showed higher values for the intakes of dry matter (1.080 g/day), crude protein (190 g/day) and total digestible nutrients (740 g/day), body condition score (2.81 points), fatness (2.87 points), carcass conformation (3.19 points), live weight (29.1 kg), empty bodyweight (23.41 kg), weights of the commercial cuts neck, shoulder and ribs (0.46, 0.82 and 1.12 kg, respectively), and skin weight (1.972 kg). No differences were found between the diets for carcass dressing percentage, external and internal carcass lengths, leg length and circumference, rump circumference and width, chest width and depth, full bodyweight, empty bodyweight, cooling losses, pH before and after cooling, loin, and leg. Silages of old man saltbush, buffelgrass, gliricidia and pornunça are recommended for inclusion in lamb diets. Diets with old man saltbush silage provide the best results for characteristics of the carcass and of non-carcass components besides weight gain, which can reach up to 200 g/day depending on the formulation. Keywords: Carcass composition, feedlot, saltbush, shee

Genetic characterization of Toxoplasma gondii isolates from pigs intended for human consumption in Brazil

AbstractThis study genetically Toxoplasma gondii isolates obtained from pigs intended for human consumption in northeastern Brazil; multilocus PCR-RFLP and sequencing techniques were utilized. Bioassays were conducted using the brain and tongue of 20 pig heads purchased at butcher shops in the city of Ilheus, Bahia, Brazil. Overall, 11 T. gondii isolates designated TgPgBr06-16 were identified. Application of multilocus PCR-RFLP with seven molecular markers (SAG1, SAG2, SAG3, BTUB, C22-8, PK1 and Apico) identified six different genotypes. Isolates TgPgBr 06, 08, 11, 12, 14 and 15 were indistinguishable by this technique, forming a single genotype; the remaining isolates were characterized as distinct genotypes. However, when five genetic markers (SAG1, SAG2, SAG3, BTUB and c22-8) were employed in multilocus PCR-sequencing, all eleven strains of T. gondii were shown to be different. All isolates differed from Type I, II and III clonal genotypes using both genotyping techniques. These results demonstrate that the multilocus PCR-RFLP assay underestimated the true diversity of the T. gondii population in this study. Thus, DNA sequencing is the preferred technique to infer the genetic diversity and population structure of T. gondii strains from Brazil. Moreover, it is necessary to develop new molecular markers to group and characterize atypical T. gondii isolates from South America

MICROMORFOLOGIA DE SOLOS APLICADA AO ESTUDO DA DIFERENCIAÇÃO DE CAMBISSOLOS EM UMA VERTENTE DO PLANALTO DO ESPINHAÇO MERIDIONAL/MG

    Get PDF

The J/ψπDˉD,DˉDJ/\psi \pi\to \bar{D} D^*, \bar{D} D, DˉD{\bar D}^* D^* and DˉD{\bar D} D^* cross sections as a function of s\sqrt{s} are evaluated in a QCD sum rule calculation. We study the Borel sum rule for the four point function involving pseudoscalar and vector meson currents, up to dimension four in the operator product expansion. We find that our results are smaller than the J/ψπcharmedmesonsJ/\psi \pi\to {charmed mesons} cross sections obtained with models based on meson exchange, but are close to those obtained with quark exchange models.Comment: revised version accepted for publication in Phys. How Hard Are the Form Factors in Hadronic Vertices with Heavy Mesons?

    Get PDF
The NDΛcND\Lambda_c and NDΛcND^*\Lambda_c form factors are evaluated in a full QCD sum rule calculation. We study the double Borel sum rule for the three point function of one meson one nucleon and one Λc\Lambda_c current up to order six in the operator product expansion. The double Borel transform is performed with respect to the nucleon and Λc\Lambda_c momenta, and the form factor is evaluated as a function of the momentum Q2Q^2 of the heavy meson. These form factors are relevant to evaluate the charmonium absorption cross section by hadrons. Our results are compatible with constant form factors in these vertices.Comment: 12 pages, RevTeX including 5 figures in ps file
