Estudio de materiales termoplásticos para demarcación de pavimentos
Se estudió en forma comparativa el comportamiento en servicio de materiales termoplásticos que son empleados en señalización vial, buscando correlacionar resultados en servicio con los obtenidos en ensayos de laboratorio.
Las experiencias sobre pavimento se realizaron aplicando las muestras tanto sobre asfalto como sobre hormigón. Las franjas se dispusieron en forma perpendicular a la dirección de desplazamiento de los vehículos, y se inspeccionaron periódicamente a lo largo de los 510 días que duró el estudio.
Se logró un mejor comportamiento (mejor adhesión) sobre pavimento asfáltico.In a comparative way it was studied the behaviour of some thermoplastic materials of the domestic production, which are used in road demarcation. It is our purpose to correlate the results in service with that obtained in laboratory tests.
The experiments on pavements were done applying the samples on asphalt and concrete. The bands were laid out perpendicularly to the sense of the road. They were periodically examined during the 510 days that the study lasted.

Se ha estudiado, por medio de ensayos en laboratorio .y en servicio, el comportamiento de revestimientos exteriores para viviendas económicas, las que deben cumplir una óptima relación de calidad a costo. Deben poseer carácter decorativo y/o protector adecuados, sin presentar una alteración significativa de los mismos en servicio.
El comportamiento al exterior resulta inferior al de buenas pinturas oleorresinosas o al látex, lo cual podrá estar relacionado con una inadecuada selección de los componentes, o de su relación en las formulaciones.The performance of those coatings has been studied by means of laboratory and service trials. They must fulfill a good quality/cost ratio and have to adequate decorative and protective characteristics without showing alterations in service as fading, checking or cracking.
Their behaviour in exterior exposure tests is lower than that obtained with some oleoresinous and latex paints of good quality. This fact may be due to an inadequate selection of the components or to their relation in the formulations
Medida de color de películas de pintura
En este estudio se tiene por objetivo fijar límites de alteración cromática para diferentes colores de esmalte para uso exterior; para ello las películas de dichos materiales fueron expuestas a la intemperie y se envejecieron artificialmente en Weather-Ometer. Se establecieron las variaciones de los índices cromáticos, y de luminosidad a, b, L, para distintos períodos empleando un colorímetro Gardner de alta sensibilidad.
Se proponen, a los fines de normalización, los valores máximos de variación que deberían admitirse en los índices cromáticos y de luminosidad.The purpose of this work is to establish the limits of the chromatic alterations in the film of synthetic enamels for exterior use. After normal and accelerated weathering, the alterations in the chromatic and lightness indexes a, b, L were periodically recorded by means of an automatic colorimeter.
The maximun values admissibles for the different colors are proposed as a contribution to normalization purposes
Revestimientos exteriores para viviendas económicas: II. Influencia de los parámetros de composición sobre el comportamiento en servicio
Se han modificado, mediante el empleo de diferentes plas- tificantes, las características de productos comerciales que normalmente presentan defectos de cuarteado por exposición al exterior. De esta manera se logra una durabilidad satisfactoria en lapsos superiores a 24 meses.
El plastificante más eficiente es una resina poliéster, que se incorpora en presencia de un agente emulsivo. Se observa que su empleo reduce marcadamente la permeabilidad de la película y mejora la resistencia a la intemperie de la misma.The domestic commercial products for this use tested in a previous work usually had cracking deffects. They were modified using different plasticizers.
In this way, an outdoor resistance of more than two years was obtained for some of the samples. The most efficient plasticizer is an alkyd resin which is incorporated in the presence of an emulsive agent.
The employ of this plasticizer reduces the film permeability markedly and improves its water resistance
Sustainability dimensions of agricultural development in Almería (Spain): The experience of 50 years
Sustainable management not only constitutes the main challenge for agricultural systems, it is also becoming a driver of development in many regions of the world. As well as guaranteeing the production of food and other basic products, agriculture can foment social progress and economic growth while maintaining environmental quality. On a global scale, sustainable development can currently be said to be one of the main objectives of communities and societies. However, it is subject to different connotations due to the heterogeneous nature of productive systems and of the natural environment. In addition, it becomes difficult to achieve a balance between the three dimensions of sustainability due to a series of problems, including periods of recession, turbulent markets and changes in management policies on both a general and a sectorial level. Analyses of this issue must therefore strive to establish their results in practice and on holistic approaches. Particular emphasis should be placed on the generation of synergies and on the appropriate balance of the essential components that make up sustainable development. Along these lines, different practical experiences on an international level have illustrated the potential of agriculture to fulfil the above-mentioned aims. At the same time this sector currently encounters a series of challenges, among which we should mention growing internationalisation of the agrifood trade, increasing control of the distribution chains and varying strategies of agrarian policy. Indeed, in the context of European rural policy there has been considerable debate in recent years concerning the role of the agricultural sector and how it should face up to the following challenges: productivity-competitiveness, environmental protection and socio-economic development. This paper analyses how this sector in the province of Almería (Spain), based on small-scale horticultural farms, has risen to the above issues over recent decades. This case study provides some insights into the different synergies between sustainability dimensions. It is particularly interesting to observe how a highly social agrarian system has evolved thanks to the combination of certain factors: the basic structure of family-run concerns, the creation of commercial and financial structures/entities and the generation of endogenous auxiliary industries. An additional point of interest resides in the system's manifest capacity to adapt and innovate in practices and technologies that are environmentally respectful. Finally, the fact that this sector, essentially without outside support, provides the basis for economic sustainability of the whole province makes it a paradigm of competitiveness in the European context. The integration of sustainability components observed in the development of Almería's horticultural sector may prove useful in helping other regions to adapt and improve their agricultural systems, especially in cases where small-scale farming predominates
White dwarf dynamical interactions and fast optical transients

transients with timescales shorter than typical supernovae and a wide range of peak
luminosities. Several subtypes have been identi ed within this broad class, including
Ca-rich transients, .Ia supernovae, and fast/bright transients. We examine the predic-
tions from a state-of-the-art grid of three-dimensional simulations of dynamical white
dwarf interactions in the context of these fast optical transients. We nd that for colli-
sions involving carbon-oxygen or oxygen-neon white dwarfs the peak luminosities and
durations of the light curves in our models are in good agreement with the properties
of fast/bright transients. When one of the colliding white dwarfs is made of helium
the properties of the light curves are similar to those of Ca-rich gap transients. The
model lightcurves from our white dwarf collisions are too slow to reproduce those of
.Ia SNe, and too fast to match any normal or peculiar Type Ia supernova.This work was partially funded by the MINECO
