Advanced long term cryogenic storage systems
Long term, cryogenic fluid storage facilities will be required to support future space programs such as the space-based Orbital Transfer Vehicle (OTV), Telescopes, and Laser Systems. An orbital liquid oxygen/liquid hydrogen storage system with an initial capacity of approximately 200,000 lb will be required. The storage facility tank design must have the capability of fluid acquisition in microgravity and limit cryogen boiloff due to environmental heating. Cryogenic boiloff management features, minimizing Earth-to-orbit transportation costs, will include advanced thick multilayer insulation/integrated vapor cooled shield concepts, low conductance support structures, and refrigeration/reliquefaction systems. Contracted study efforts are under way to develop storage system designs, technology plans, test article hardware designs, and develop plans for ground/flight testing

The Cluster and Field Galaxy AGN Fraction at z = 1 to 1.5: Evidence for a Reversal of the Local Anticorrelation Between Environment and AGN Fraction
The fraction of cluster galaxies that host luminous AGN is an important probe
of AGN fueling processes, the cold ISM at the centers of galaxies, and how
tightly black holes and galaxies co-evolve. We present a new measurement of the
AGN fraction in a sample of 13 clusters of galaxies (M >= 10^{14} Msun) at
1<z<1.5 selected from the Spitzer/IRAC Shallow Cluster Survey, as well as the
field fraction in the immediate vicinity of these clusters, and combine these
data with measurements from the literature to quantify the relative evolution
of cluster and field AGN from the present to z~3. We estimate that the cluster
AGN fraction at 1<z<1.5 is f_A = 3.0^{+2.4}_{-1.4}% for AGN with a rest-frame,
hard X-ray luminosity greater than L_{X,H} >= 10^{44} erg/s. This fraction is
measured relative to all cluster galaxies more luminous than M*_{3.6}(z)+1,
where M*_{3.6}(z) is the absolute magnitude of the break in the galaxy
luminosity function at the cluster redshift in the IRAC 3.6um bandpass. The
cluster AGN fraction is 30 times greater than the 3sigma upper limit on the
value for AGN of similar luminosity at z~0.25, as well as more than an order of
magnitude greater than the AGN fraction at z~0.75. AGN with L_{X,H} >= 10^{43}
erg/s exhibit similarly pronounced evolution with redshift. In contrast with
the local universe, where the luminous AGN fraction is higher in the field than
in clusters, the X-ray and MIR-selected AGN fractions in the field and clusters
are consistent at 1<z<1.5. This is evidence that the cluster AGN population has
evolved more rapidly than the field population from z~1.5 to the present. This
environment-dependent AGN evolution mimics the more rapid evolution of

How should technology-mediated organizational change be explained? A comparison of the contributions of critical realism and activity theory
In this paper, critical realism and activity theory are compared within the context of theorizing technology-mediated organizational change. An activity theoretic analysis of the implementation of large-scale disruptive information systems in a public sector setting (in particular concerning paramedic treatment of heart attack patients and ambulance dispatch work activity) is used to illustrate how activity theory makes a significant contribution to critical realism, by (1) locating technology within âactivity systemsâ and theorizing change through contradictions and congruencies within those systems; (2) developing recent critical realism-inspired theorization of the âinscriptionâ of cultural and social relations within technology; and (3) developing recent insights of critical realist researchers regarding the way in which the performance management agenda is mediated through IS
Accounting students' expectations and transition experiences of supervised work experience
Political and economic discourses position employability as a responsibility of higher education, which utilise mechanisms such as supervised work experience (SWE) to embed employability into the undergraduate curriculum. However, sparse investigation of students' contextualised experiences of SWE results in little being known about the mechanisms through which students derive employability benefits from SWE. The aim of this study is to examine the impact of students' expectation and conception of workplace learning on their transition into SWE. Analysis of accounting students' experiences reveal two broad conceptions of workplace learning, the differing impacts of which on transition experience are explored using existing learning transfer perspectives. Students displaying the more common 'technical' conception construct SWE as an opportunity to develop technical, knowledge-based expertise and abilities that prioritize product-based or cognitive learning transfer. Students with an 'experiential' conception were found to construct SWE primarily as an experience through which the development of personal skills and abilities beyond technical expertise are prioritized using process-based or socio-cultural learning transfer. Further data analysis suggests that these two learning transfer approaches have differing impacts on students' employability development which may indicate a need for universities to consider how to develop appropriate student expectations of and approaches to SWE and meaningful support for students' SWE transition
Anomalous Chiral Symmetry Breaking above the QCD Phase Transition
We study the anomalous breaking of U_A(1) symmetry just above the QCD phase
transition for zero and two flavors of quarks, using a staggered fermion,
lattice discretization. The properties of the QCD phase transition are expected
to depend on the degree of U_A(1) symmetry breaking in the transition region.
For the physical case of two flavors, we carry out extensive simulations on a
16^3 x 4 lattice, measuring a difference in susceptibilities which is sensitive
to U_A(1) symmetry and which avoids many of the staggered fermion
discretization difficulties. The results suggest that anomalous effects are at

Does wage rank affect employees' well-being?
How do workers make wage comparisons? Both an experimental study and an analysis of 16,000 British employees are reported. Satisfaction and well-being levels are shown to depend on more than simple relative pay. They depend upon the ordinal rank of an individual's wage within a comparison group. âRankâ itself thus seems to matter to human beings. Moreover, consistent with psychological theory, quits in a workplace are correlated with pay distribution skewness
Fashion showcases design: perceptions of the showcase in the brazilian popular market
The present work aims to present the showcase, its relation with the building, with fashion and with the observer. The importance of this exhibition space extends from the aesthetic and communication functions to be part of a wide textile and clothing chain. This role integrates the whole cycle of creation, textiles, clothing and fashion accessories. For this article we used bibliographical references of design and fashion, as well as methodologies of photographic and ethnographic documentation, with application of focus groups. From the focus groups were identified descriptors related to emotional design. Such descriptors point to the emotions arising from memories, tastes and attitudes. Surface Tension between Kaon Condensate and Normal Nuclear Matter Phase
We calculate for the first time the surface tension and curvature coefficient
of a first order phase transition between two possible phases of cold nuclear
matter, a normal nuclear matter phase in equilibrium with a kaon condensed
phase, at densities a few times the saturation density. We find the surface
tension is proportional to the difference in energy density between the two
phases squared. Furthermore, we show the consequences for the geometrical

A sample of X-ray emitting normal galaxies from the BMW -- HRI Catalogue
We have obtained a sample of 143 normal galaxies with X-ray luminosity in the
range erg s from the cross-correlation of the ROSAT
HRI Brera Multi-scale Wavelet (BMW -- HRI) Catalogue with the Lyon-Meudon
Extragalactic Database (LEDA). We find that the average X-ray properties of
this sample are in good agreement with those of other samples of galaxies in
the literature. We have selected a complete flux limited serendipitous sample
of 32 galaxies from which we have derived the logN-logS distribution of normal
galaxies in the flux range erg cm s.
The resulting distribution is consistent with the euclidean -1.5 slope.
Comparisons with other samples, such as the Extended Medium Sensitivity Survey,
the ROSAT All Sky Survey, the XMM - Newton/2dF survey and the Chandra Deep
Field Survey indicate that the logN-logS distribution of normal galaxies is
