    ChatGPT in The Lab: Analyzing the Potential Pros and Cons for Research Professionals

    ChatGPT is a natural large language model developed by OpenAI, which generates human-like responses to a wide range of questions and prompts. For researchers, ChatGPT can provide quick and accurate answers to academic questions. The study delves into the nuanced landscape and scrutinizes the benefits and pitfalls associated with the usage of ChatGPT among higher education researchers. Based on a convenient sampling, the study involves a mixed-methods approach that includes both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis. One thousand ninety-nine researchers, who have used ChatGPT for various academic projects, are the subjects under study. The data was collected via online questionnaires and face-to-face interviews from four Moroccan universities and higher education institutions: Sultan Moulay Slimane University, Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University, Moulay Ismail University, and Al Akhawayn University. The research data is processed and analyzed through the SPSS software and analyzed to discern patterns and trends in ChatGPT usage. The findings of the study underscore the multifaceted impact of ChatGPT in academic research. The outcomes show that the benefits of ChatGPT include its ability to provide quick and accurate responses to queries, facilitate learning and information-seeking, and enhance communication skills. In contrast, the pitfalls include its potential to lead to an overreliance on technology, reduced critical thinking skills, and the risk of plagiarism. Such a result has significant implications for the integration of ChatGPT into academic research practices. While acknowledging its advantages, researchers are urged to approach its use with caution, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a balance between technological assistance and the preservation of essential cognitive skills. The study provides insights into the ongoing discourse on the role of Chatbots in higher education and underscores the need for researchers to incorporate strategies that harness the benefits of ChatGPT while mitigating its potential drawbacks

    Résumé La fonction des ressources humaines est en train de subir des transformations significatives en raison de la complexité et de la célérité des évolutions économiques et organisationnelles. En conséquence, le bien-être au travail s'est transformé en l'un des enjeux stratégiques majeurs, attirant une attention grandissante de la part des dirigeants d'entreprise. Ces dernières années ont vu le bien-être au travail prendre une place croissante au sein des responsabilités des professionnels des ressources humaines et dans le domaine de la recherche en gestion (Peretti, 2015). Dans cette étude, nous mettons en exergue l'importance de notre recherche actuelle et présentons une synthèse des diverses contributions théoriques relatives au concept de bien-être au travail. Par la suite, nous exposons les principales conclusions issues d'une revue de littérature contextualisée qui vise à explorer ce concept dans le contexte marocain. L’objectif de ce papier est de montrer la manière dont le bien-être au travail contribue à la performance des entreprises. Le présent travail constitue une revue de littérature de nature conceptuelle visant à relever divers apports théoriques. Nos résultats montrent qu’assainir une politique de bien-être en entreprise, il est important de se projeter sur le long terme. Ainsi, les organisations se doivent de mettre en place des moyens financiers, matériels et organisationnels pour améliorer le quotidien des employés et créer une synergie entre eux. Nous avons également constaté que le management constitue la pierre angulaire de cette approche, et chaque acteur doit pouvoir agir et être proactif à son échelle. Comme nous l'avons énoncé, une démarche réussie de "mieux-être" au travail permettra d’assoir la résilience, l’engagement et le sentiment d’appartenance des collaborateurs. Abstract The human resource’s function is undergoing significant transformations due to the complexity and rapid pace of economic and organizational changes. As a result, workplace well-being has evolved into one of the major strategic challenges, garnering increasing attention from business leaders. In recent years, workplace well-being has been taking on a growing role within the responsibilities of human resources professionals and in the field of management research (Peretti, 2015). In this study, we highlight the significance of our current research and provide a synthesis of various theoretical contributions related to the concept of workplace well-being. Subsequently, we present the main findings stemming from a contextualized literature review aimed at exploring this concept within the Moroccan context.Haut du formulaire The aim of this paper is to show how well-being at work contributes to corporate performance. The present work constitutes a conceptual literature review aimed at identifying various theoretical contributions. Our results show that it is important to take a long-term view when implementing a corporate well-being policy. Thus, organizations need to put in place financial, material and organizational resources to improve employees' daily lives and create synergy between them. We have also noted that management is the cornerstone of this approach, and each player must be able to act and be proactive at his or her own level. As we have stated, a successful approach to "wellness" in the workplace will help build resilience, commitment and a sense of belonging among employees.     HH_\infty circle criterion observer design for Lipschitz nonlinear systems with enhanced LMI conditions

    International audienceThis note deals with observer design for Lipschitz nonlinear systems via LMI. A new LMI condition is proposed to solve the problem of mathcal{H}_{infty} circle criterion observer design. This enhanced LMI is less conservative than those proposed in the literature for the same class of systems by using the same methodology. Indeed, thanks to a new and judicious use of the Young's relation, additional degree of freedoms are included in the LMI, contrarily to some recent results, which turn to be particular cases of what we proposed in this paper. This additional decision variables allow to improve the feasibility of the proposed LMI. A numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed methodology

    Design and Experimental Validation of a Stable Two-Stage Estimator for Automotive Sideslip Angle and Tire Parameters

    © 1967-2012 IEEE. This paper proposes and experimentally validates a two-stage approach for coupled lateral vehicle state and tire model estimation. In a first stage, an extended Kalman filter is employed which provides vehicle slip angles and lateral tire forces from commercial low-cost vehicle sensors. The obtained estimates are exploited in the second stage, where a (quasi-static) tire model is fitted to this data. A major issue in this estimation process is the typical instability of these estimators for situations with (prolonged) straight driving. This issue is traced back to a lack of local observability. The use of a variable model covariance is introduced as a practical method to obtain a stable estimator, irrespective of the unobservability. The developed methodology has a low computational load and the Kalman estimator is able to run in real time, whereas the tire model parameter fitting is cheap enough to run online. The proposed methodology is validated experimentally and provides reliable results in variable driving conditions.status: publishe

    A new LMI observer-based controller design method for discrete-time LPV systems with uncertain parameters

    International audienceThis paper deals with observer-based controller design problem for discrete-time Linear Parameter Varying~(LPV) systems with uncertain parameters. The proposed technique consists in designing an observer-based controller which stabilizes the LPV system, provided that the norm of the difference between the measured parameter and the real one does not exceed a tolerated maximum value. The particularity of the proposed design method, compared to some existing methods in the literature, is that it works on one systematic step, without any a priori choice of some observer-based controller parameters. The solution is formulated in terms of a single set of Linear Matrix Inequalities~(LMIs). Besides, a relaxation of the proposed design with respect to the uncertainty is provided.
