Update on Fundamental Mechanisms of Thyroid Cancer
The incidence of thyroid cancer (TC) has increased worldwide over the past four decades. TC is divided into three main histological types: differentiated (papillary and follicular TC), undifferentiated (poorly differentiated and anaplastic TC), and medullary TC, arising from TC cells. This review discusses the molecular mechanisms associated to the pathogenesis of different types of TC and their clinical relevance. In the last years, progresses in the genetic characterization of TC have provided molecular markers for diagnosis, risk stratification, and treatment targets. Recently, papillary TC, the most frequent form of TC, has been reclassified into two molecular subtypes, named BRAF-like and RAS-like, associated to a different range of cancer risks. Similarly, the genetic characterization of follicular TC has been proposed to complement the new histopathological classification in order to estimate the prognosis. New analyses characterized a comprehensive molecular profile of medullary TC, raising the role of RET mutations. More recent evidences suggested that immune microenvironment associated to TC may play a critical role in tumor invasion, with potential immunotherapeutic implications in advanced and metastatic TC. Several types of ancillary approaches have been developed to improve the diagnostic value of fine needle aspiration biopsies in indeterminate thyroid nodules. Finally, liquid biopsy, as a non-invasive diagnostic tool for body fluid genotyping, brings a new prospective of disease and therapy monitoring. Despite all these novelties, much work remains to be done to fully understand the pathogenesis and biological behaviors of the different types of TC and to transfer this knowledge in clinical practice

Assessment of awake bruxism in undergraduate students, using Ecological Momentary Assessment, through WhatsApp
This study assessed awake bruxism (AB) in undergraduate students using WhatsApp and examined the association of this behavior with quality of life and anxiety. The sample was composed of 36 healthy young adults of both genders, with an average age of 20.74 years. AB behaviors (teeth contact, teeth clenching, teeth grinding and mandible bracing) and relaxed jaw muscles were reported with Ecological Momentary Assessment, through WhatsApp, 15 times a day, for 7 days, between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm. Quality of Life (QoL) and anxiety were assessed using the SF-36 and GAD-7 questionnaires, respectively. The Mann-Whitney U non-parametric, Pearson and Spearman correlation and Pairwise non-parametric multiple comparisons 2- to-2 tests were used. The frequency of AB was 40.7%. The most frequent AB behavior was teeth contact (23.1%). Higher frequency of AB occurred on weekdays (42.3%) compared to the weekend (35.5%) (p<0.05). There was a negative correlation of AB behaviors and mandible bracing with the QoL - emotional aspects domain (p<0.05) and positive correlation of mandible bracing with anxiety (p<0.01). There was no difference between genders for QoL, anxiety and AB behaviors (p>0.05). This study highlights the importance of AB and anxiety control to improve undergraduate students’ quality of life. This study assessed awake bruxism (AB) in undergraduate students using WhatsApp and examined the association of this behavior with quality of life and anxiety.
experiência do Programa de Educação Tutorial
2010. O cenário de prática das atividades
de campo é a Regional Administrativa do
Itapoã, no Distrito Federal, e a atuação do
as visitas domiciliares, atividades clínicas
e desenvolvimento de pesquisas. Alunos e
preceptores estão sendo capazes de reconhecer
os determinantes sociais do processo saúdedoença,
analisar os indicadores de saúde bucal
da população, aprimorar práticas educativas
utilizadas na Estratégia Saúde da Família e
promover saúde no âmbito da comunidade.
As principais dificuldades encontradas dizem
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis paper presents an
experience report of the Tutorial Program
in Dentistry from the University of Brasília,
during the period from March to December,
2010. The scenario of practice is the Itapoã -
an Administrative Area of the Distrito Federal
- and the activities of the tutorial group take
place in partnership with the Family Health
Team through a preventive educational oral
health routine during home visits, as well
as clinical activities and development of
research. Students and preceptors are being
able to recognize the social determinants
of the health-disease process, analyze oral
health indicators of the population, improve
educational practices and promote health
within the community. The main barriers of the
tutorial group are the lack of physical space
and dental equipment capable of meeting the
demand of the tutorial group and assisted
families. This tutorial experience within the
Family Health Strategy provides a learning
experience that goes far beyond the tradition
of teaching bio-technicalities of dentistry,
as well as allows dental students real to live
through a real field experience and reflect on
the theoretical knowledge obtained from the
‘university seats’. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ RESUMENEste documento presenta

Pharmacological therapies for patients with human coronavirus infections : a rapid systematic review
This work aimed to evaluate the effects of drug therapies for coronavirus infections. Rapid systematic review with search in the MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane, BVS, Global Index Medicus, Medrix, bioRxiv, Clinicaltrials.gov and International Clinical Trials Registry Platform databases. Thirty-six studies evaluating alternative drugs against SARS, SARS-CoV-2 and MERS were included. Most of the included studies were conducted in China with an observational design for the treatment of COVID-19. The most studied treatments were with antimalarials and antivirals. In antimalarial, the meta-analysis of two studies with 180 participants did not identify the benefit of hydroxychloroquine concerning the negative viral load via real-time polymerase chain reaction, and the use of antivirals compared to standard care was similar regarding outcomes. The available scientific evidence is preliminary and of low methodological quality, which suggests caution when interpreting its results. Research that evaluates comparative efficacy in randomized, controlled clinical trials, with adequate follow-up time and with the methods properly disclosed and subject to scientific peer review is required. A periodic update of this review is recommended
