For families who have a children with disabilities, a great amount of stress are put on not only the primary caregivers but all members of the family unit. This study examined what factors influence stress experienced by siblings of children with disabilities. These factors included severity of the children’s disabilities, gender of the siblings, how much help the siblings provide in the care of the children with disabilities, and the number of people in the families. The purpose was to raise awareness of the participants and pinpoint certain characteristics that affect how frequent and how intense stress is experienced by siblings of children with disabilities. The study also examined situations and characteristics that increased frequency and how much happiness the siblings of children with disabilities experienced because of uplifting experiences. The results indicated that as the participants took on more responsibilities in the care of their siblings with disabilities the less frequent they reported these hassles occurring. The siblings that provided more help in the care of the children with disabilities may no longer perceive these situations as hassles, therefore reporting they occur less often

Confidence and security building measures (CSBMs) have long been the neglected stepchild of serious arms control analysis. Some view CSBMs as arms control junk food, frivolous, unworkable, or even detrimental. Others are so enamored of the concept that they expect proposals to be accepted as prima facie desirable. After all, the very term confidence and security connotes stability and peace. The problem with both positions is often the dearth of hard analysis in support of the ideas put forward and the abstract nature of the discussions of security building. As witnessed in the contrast between the quiet success of the 1972 Incidents at Sea Agreement and the disastrous Trojan Horse episode of ancient Greece, CSBMs can have good or bad results. It is necessary to sort out analytically which CSBMs make sense to enhance security in Europe. This study aims to do that in the case of one important type of CSBM: constraints on the military ground exercises of NATO and the Warsaw Treaty Organization (WTO or Warsaw Pact)

This thesis aims to explore the development of Argentine feminism between the Madres Plaza de Mayo and Ni Una Menos movements. This study will examine the extent to which the Madres have established a permanent human rights framework that provides a structure for contemporary movements in Argentina. First, the socio-cultural and economic conditions in which the Madres emerged are dissected, including the results of Peronism and Eva Perón\u27s influences on Argentine culture as explored through a feminist lens. Next, the tactics used by the Madres to subvert patriarchy and instead use oppression to their advantage are analyzed through their conceptions and expressions of motherhood which previously constricted women but were revoked to instead advance their positions. Finally, the similarities between the movements are presented to emphasize their common roots and goals. Their shared strategies signal the existence of a decade-long effort and struggle to ensure bodily autonomy for all. This work strives to provide insight into feminist development and to underline the benefits of understanding Argentine feminism as a legitimate model to follow

A photograph of nurses awaiting entrance into the Cathedral for the pinning ceremony on June 3, 1965. The nurses are lined single file in the cloister waiting to enter the Cathedral. They are wearing white nurse uniforms, nursing caps and shoes. The first nurse appears to be carrying a bouquet of long stemmed roses in her left hand. The cloister where they are standing is marble textured with a flat ceiling and gold light fixtures with a symbol of encircled cross hanging from the center. At the far end a small gathering of probable church officials are standing in front of an open wooden door. The photograph is in excellent condition. The front is clear of any marks, handwritten or imposed. The back contains information about what is taking place. Written in blue ink is the following: "June 3rd [,] Waiting Anxiously In The Cloister For Student Body Faculty, Nurses And Doctors To File Into The Cathedral [,] Blackwill." Written in pencil is the year "1965." A red insignia of Kodak has vertically been stamped in the center. The information of what the ceremony is about is vague because the description on the back does not identify the event. It is only when referencing the photograph in Lottie Felkner's book, A Century of Caring: St Mark's - Westminster School of Nursing 1895-1995; page 6, does the real purpose of the event become clear

Quatre dilemmes de la politique américaine à l'égard de l'URSS

Four US Dilemmas in Making Policy Toward the Soviet Union, by Robert D. Blackwill US policy options to avoid nuclear war while containing Moscow's increasing global power and influence are not simply peace or war. Instead, there are four related dilemmas through which US policy toward the Soviet Union will express itself in the period ahead : balancing adéquate défense spending with domestic économie growth ; pursuing fundamental US national security requirements while managing the Alliance ; deciding where, how and at what cost to contain the USSR in the Third World ; and coping with a restless American people and a patient Politburo.

Russia and the West, by Robert D. Blackwill The author discusses two broad areas that are souring relations between Russia and the West. The Russian domestic landscape is characterized by four negative trends that together will infect Russian external policies : worsening economie conditions, the end of democratie breakthroughs, the growth of crime and corruption, and increasing anti-Western sentiment. The second area encompasses differences arising from the conflicting national interests and foreign policies of Russia and the West, particularly regarding the future of Ukraine, the Baltic States, and Eastern Europe. While these internal factors and conflicting interests do not bode well for partnership between Russia and the industrialized democracies, neither will they produce another Cold War. Blackwill, Kulesza-Mietkowski Ewa. La Russie et l'Occident.
