The Effect of Anthelmintic Treatment on Coccidia Oocyst Shedding in a Wild Mammal Host with Intermittent Cestode Infection

While hosts are routinely exploited by a community of parasite species, the principles governing host responses towards parasites are unclear. Identifying the health outcomes of coinfections involving helminth macroparasites and microparasites is one area of importance for public and domestic animal health. For instance, it is controversial how deworming programmes affect incidence and severity of such important microparasite diseases as malaria. One problem is that most study systems involve domestic and laboratory animals with conditions hardly comparable to those of free-living animals. Here, we study the effect of anthelmintic treatment on coccidia infection intensity in wild Alpine marmots, M. marmota. Our results lend support to the hypothesis that helminth infection has a positive effect on concurrent microparasite infection. However, our work also points to the fact that within-host interactions between helminths and microparasites are context-dependent and can turn to negative ones once helminth burdens increase. Our study suggests that coccidia benefit from intermittent helminth infection in marmots due to the protective effects of helminth infection only during the early phase of the host’s active season. Also, the marmot’s response towards coccidia infection appears optimal only under no helminth infection when the host immune response towards coccidia would not be compromised, thereby pointing to the importance of regular intestinal helminth elimination by marmots just before hibernation

The study presented in the paper contributes to covering the gap in the area of sufficient information disclosure that also increases the interests of relevant stakeholders in contributing to depository market discipline and in being relevant to their interest within Pillar 3 framework. This paper is focused on an analysis of website data dedicated to Pillar 3 disclosures of commercial banks and on studying the behaviour of stakeholders in relation to the timing of serious market turbulence. The examined data consists of log files that were pre-processed using web mining techniques and from which were extracted frequent itemsets by quarters and evaluated in terms of quantity. The authors have proposed a methodology to evaluate frequent itemsets of web parts over a dedicated time period. The results show that stakeholders’ interest in disclosures is lower after turbulent times in 2009, higher in the first quarter, also higher together with annual reports (lower for Pillar 3 solo information). The paper’s results suggest that further changes in commercial banks´ information disclosure are inevitable in order to achieve an effective market discipline mechanism and meaningful disclosures according to the regulator´s expectations

Market discipline has been a scrutinized area since the last financial crisis in 2008. Regulators strengthened their role particularly through Pillar 3 in Basel III. However, there are still some aspects of market discipline that deserve special attention to avoid future failures. This study focuses on the analysis of the interest and behaviour of deposit stakeholders based on website data dedicated to disclosures of commercial bank in Slovakia during and after turbulent times (period 2009–2012). The data consists of log files, and web mining techniques were applied (the modelling of web user behaviour in dependence on time - based on the proposals of the authors). The results show that also in turbulent times, stakeholders’ interest in Pillar 3 disclosures is low (in line with (Munk, Pilkova, Benko, & Blažeková, 2017)) and the highest interest was identified for the Pricing List category. After turbulent times, Pillar 3 categories (Pillar 3 related information and Pillar 3 disclosures) have weak interest, with peaks at the beginning of the year, and the highest increase was in the Business Conditions category. The results suggest that the enhancement of interest of key stakeholders in disclosures inevitably requires changes to deliver sufficient disclosure data structures and to design a disclosure policy that fulfils regulatory expectations. © 2021 The AuthorsScientific Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic (ME SR); Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS) [VEGA-1/0776/18, VEGA-1/0821/21]Slovenská Akadémia Vied, SAV: VEGA-1/0776/18, VEGA-1/0821/2

V této části operacionalizuji pojmy politická strana, politické hnutí, levo- pravá osa politického spektra, stará levice, nová levice a další. Hlavní výzkumnou metodou...The topic of the diploma thesis is a comparison of the old and new left in the Czech Republic. The diploma thesis focuses on a comparison of the selected relevant left-wing political groups operating in the Czech Republic. The thesis examines differences and similarities between the KSČM, the socialist wing of ČSSD on one side and the Green Party and the left-liberal tendencies and offshoots of the ČSSD (such Idealists) on the other hand. The work is divided into three main parts. The first part of the thesis is theoretical. The theoretical part defines main terms such as a political party, political movement, left-right axis of the political spectrum, the old left, the new left etc. The explanation of the terms is very important for understanding the thesis. In the second part of this thesis, I analyze single significant and relevant political parties. I focus on the origin and development of political parties and their electoral program, their attitude to selected issues, electorate, potential cooperation between themselves and so on. The third part is comparative. The goal of this thesis is to find out whether the analyzed political parties fulfill leftist characteristic. Next goal of this thesis is to find out whether the classification on left-right axis of the political spectrum is still...Department of Political ScienceKatedra politologieFaculty of Social SciencesFakulta sociálních vě

Searching for Own Self: on the Boundary between the Ethical and Religious Stage

In the article the author deals with an analysis of Kierkegaard`s categories of ‘leap’ and ‘instant’which predicate of human existence in some way. Man as an original and unique being in himselfis hard, apprehensible and effable. Kierkegaard`s in some sense existential philosophy offersa conspicuous reflection of man and his inner life. The method of indirect communicationused by Kierkegaard indicates that if we want to grasp the phenomenon of human existencewe have to manage with only an indirect and particular assumption. Even a concrete man isnot able to grasp his existence in a whole way and at any time. There is only one place wherethe possibility of self-understanding and self-ownership becomes open. This is the boundaryor range of the ethical and religious stage of life. That is the reason why the aim of the articlebecomes a quest for an answer to the question: ‘What happens on the boundary between theethical and the religious?
