    R&D Personnel Career Routes: An Exploratory Study

    This study, aiming at investigate the alternative modes of career development for personnel belonging to R&D staff, addresses the extent to which career anchors are applicable to R&D staff and to examine the relationship among career anchors, gender and age, with the final purpose to add elements of discussion to the long-lasting debate about this matter. With this purpose in mind, we developed a questionnaire survey among 309 R&D personnel employed at firms belonging to the food machinery industry in a Northern Italy district. The results obtained from the statistical analysis indicate that the R&D personnel's career orientations is a predictor of their career routes preferences, confirming three possible career routes in R&D labs that were highlighted in previous studies

    The digitalization of supply chain: A review

    The emergence of new digital technologies as part of Industry 4.0 has enabled the supply chain to be managed more efficiently. We talk about digitalization of the supply chain and this trend refers to the evolution towards a smarter model that involves digital technologies such as Blockchain, IoT, Machine Learning, etc. These technologies actually increase and enhance the ability to optimize planning, sourcing and procurement strategies. Since this topic is of relevant interest for the scientific community, this paper aims to investigate the main discussion themes related to supply chain digitalization using a keyword-based organizing framework to identify, classify and investigate relevant intellectual contributions in this field. Results showed which are the main issues regarding supply chain digitalization as well as promising future research avenues

    Isolation and characterisation of microcrystalline cellulose and cellulose nanocrystals from coffee husk and comparative study with rice husk

    [EN] Cellulosic material from coffee husk has not been previously studied despite being a potential source of reinforcing agents for different applications. This material has been extracted and characterised from coffee husk, in parallel with previously studied rice husk. Samples have been analysed as to their ability to obtain cellulosic fibres and cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) by applying alkali and bleaching treatments and final sulphuric acid hydrolysis. Microstructural changes were analysed after treatments, and the size and aspect ratio of CNCs were determined. Crystallinity and thermal stability of both materials progressed in line with the enrichment in cellulosic compounds. The CNC aspect ratio was higher than 10, which confers good reinforcing properties. These were tested in thermoplastic starch films, whose elastic modulus increased by 186 and 121% when 1 wt% of CNCs from rice and coffee husks, respectively, was incorporated into the matrix.     Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid (500–730 Kda) Injections in Tendinopathies—A Narrative Review

    Tendinopathies are common causes of pain and disability in general population and athletes. Conservative treatment is largely preferred, and eccentric exercise or other modalities of therapeutic exercises are recommended. However, this approach requests several weeks of consecutive treatment and could be discouraging. In the last years, injections of different formulations were evaluated to accelerate functional recovery in combination with usual therapy. Hyaluronic acid (HA) preparations were proposed, in particular LMW-HA (500-730 kDa) for its unique molecular characteristics in favored extracellular matrix homeostasis and tenocyte viability. The purpose of our review is to evaluate the state-of-the-art about the role of 500-730 kDa in tendinopathies considering both preclinical and clinical findings and encourage further research on this emerging topic

    La separación de hecho de los cónyuges y su pretensión de adoptar

    Husband and wife must live together after their marriage ( Sections. 199 and 200) of our Civil Code. When they do not fulfill this duty, they are voluntarily separated. The Civil Code sets as a general principle that  the Civil Status of any  individual  , is irrelevant  for adoption s sake. But this principle does not apply to married couples,  because the law demands that the two members of the couple always have to adopt a child together, except in the following few specific cases which are expressly quothed in the above mentioned  sections: 1)When there is a firm legal sentence of separation. 2)When one of the two members of the couple has been  declared  insane  by a judge and lastly, 3) When there is a firm  sentence declaring one of the two members absent or disappeared. This means that the mutual agreement of  spouses to live separate lives is not included in the provisions of the law. The aim of the article is to describe  what happens when one or both of  them want to register themselves to have the child’s custody as a previous step for becoming a foster parent or when any or both of them claim the child’s custody for later adoption and finally when they claim the adoption of  child which they have already had in custody.Con la celebración del matrimonio los cónyuges tienen el deber de cohabitación (artículos 199 y 200 del Código Civil).     Influence of citric acid on the properties and stability of starch-polycaprolactone based films

    [EN] The influence of citric acid (CA) on structural and physicochemical properties of blend films based on corn starch and polycaprolactone (PCL) was studied. Films were obtained by melt blending of starch and PCL and compression molding. Phase separation of polymers observed by scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope was reduced by CA incorporation. CA affected both starch and PCL crystallization as deduced from the X-ray diffraction patterns and values of melting enthalpy. Glass transition of starch was reduced by PCL incorporation, while this occurred to a greater extent in films containing CA. Obtained results point to enhanced interactions between PCL and starch chains in films with CA, although this only quantitatively benefits the film properties at a low PCL ratio. Compounding starch with small amounts of PCL, using glycerol and CA, can supply films with better functional properties than net starch films.The authors acknowledge the financial support from the Spanish Ministerio de Educacion y Ciencia throughout the projects AGL2010-20694 and AGL2013-42989-R.
