    PACE Solver Description: GraPA-JAVA

    Get PDF
We present an exact solver for the DFVS, submitted for the exact track of the Parameterized Algorithms and Computational Experiments challenge (PACE) in 2022. The solver heavily relies on data reduction (known from the literature and new reduction rules). The instances are then further processed by integer linear programming approaches. We implemented the algorithm in the scope of a student project at the University of Bremen

In-situ borehole temperature measurements confirm dynamics of the gas hydrate stability zone at the upper Danube deep sea fan, Black Sea

Highlights • In-situ temperature measurements were conducted at the Danube deep sea fan. • Operations were performed with the MARUM-MeBo200 seafloor drill rig. • The BSR is located ∼20 m below the current gas hydrate stability zone. • Seismic data suggest presence of shallower BSR-like events. Abstract Coring, geophysical logging, and in-situ temperature measurements were performed with the MARUM-MeBo200 seafloor rig to characterize gas hydrate occurrences in sediments of the Danube deep sea fan, off Romania, Black Sea. The new drilling data showed no evidence for significant gas hydrate saturations within the sediments but the presence of free gas at the depth of the bottom-simulating reflector (BSR). In-situ temperature and core-derived geochemical data suggest that the current base of the gas hydrate stability zone (BGHSZ) is ∼20 m shallower than the BSR. Investigation of the seismic data around the drill sites shows several locations where free gas previously trapped at a former BGHSZ migrated upwards forming a new reflection above the BSR. This shows that the gas hydrate system in the Danube deep sea fan is still responding to climate changes initiated at the end of the last glacial maximum

Ateleia glazioviana Baillon, Leguminosae-Papilionoideae, is a tree widespread in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. It is reputed to be toxic to cattle, fish and repellent to insects. In this work, two of the main non proteinogenic amino acids were identified through spectroscopic methods as 1-aminociclobutane-1, 3-dicarboxilic and δ-acetylornithine

Contamination tracer testing with seabed drills: IODP Expedition 357

    Get PDF
IODP Expedition 357 utilized seabed drills for the first time in the history of the ocean drilling program, with the aim of collecting intact sequences of shallow mantle core from the Atlantis Massif to examine serpentinization processes and the deep biosphere. This novel drilling approach required the development of a new remote seafloor system for delivering synthetic tracers during drilling to assess for possible sample contamination. Here, we describe this new tracer delivery system, assess the performance of the system during the expedition, provide an overview of the quality of the core samples collected for deep biosphere investigations based on tracer concentrations, and make recommendations for future applications of the system

EXTENSÃO UNIVERSITÁRIA: STATUS VACINAL E PERFIL SOROLÓGICO PARA IMUNOGLOBULINAS CONTRA SARS-COV-2 DE PARTICIPANTES DA FEIRA DE PREVENÇÃO EM SAÚDE EM VALE VERDE, RS

University extension enables an integral approach to the health-disease and teaching-learning process, with emphasis on community health promotion, prevention and education. Covid-19 is a highly transmissible and morbimortality respiratory infection caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The production of a safe and effective vaccine became promising in combat the pandemic. The objective of this study was to evaluate the vaccination status and serological profile for immunoglobulins against SARS-CoV-2 of the participants of a health fair in Vale Verde (RS). This is a cross-sectional, descriptive-quantitative study, with data obtained through interviews and rapid tests for IgG and IgM. 52 people were tested, of which 17,30% had already tested positive and most had already received the 1st or 2nd dose of the vaccine (44,23% and 32,69%, respectively). Of those tested, 23,07% showed reactive IgG and 3,84% reactive IgM. As for the type of vaccine, 25 people were vaccinated with AstraZeneca/Fiocruz (20,00% obtained reagent IgG of which 5 reported previous disease), 10 with Sinovac/Butantan, 2 with Pfizer/Wyeth and 3 with Janssen. Unvaccinated individuals with no previous disease report tested non-reactive IgG and IgM. Thus, it’s concluded that 11,53% of the population tested was already fully immunized and had IgG antibodies. This study reinforces that rapid test is an easy-to-perform and low-cost method used for epidemiological screening or diagnostic aid of Covid-19, however it isn’t specific for evaluating the vaccine response, with vaccination being a potential solution for the control of the disease pandemic associated with the prevention measures already established.
