    Uncommon Cause of Acute Pelvic Pain: Isolated Torsion of Hydrosalpinx

    Isolated torsion of hydrosalpinx is a rare cause of acute pelvic pain. Pre-operative diagnosis is very difficult because of non specific clinical presentation. Definitive diagnosis is always made at surgicalexploration performed for suspected adnexal torsion and salpingectomy is performed in the majority of cases. A 34-year-old woman was admitted for acute pelvic pain with nausea and vomiting. Vaginal examination revealed a right adnexal tender mass and ultrasound revealed a well circumscribed right adnexal cystic mass. Surgical exploration has revealed torsion of a right hydrosalpinx and right salpingectomy was performed. Differential diagnosis between adnexal and tubal torsion is very difficult, however both should be managed by rapid surgical exploration which an allow precocious diagnosis and conservative treatment(Afr J Reprod Health 2009; 13[4]:147-150)

    Design of compact microstrip bandpass filter using square DMS slots for Wi-Fi and bluetooth applications

    This paper presents the design of a compact bandpass filter based on two identical rectangular resonators and is implemented on microstrip technology for Wi-Fi and bluetoothapplications. To reduce the size of the filter, the defected microstrip structure (DMS) technique is proposed. This technique consists of etching slots in the rectangular resonator, which results in a change in the line properties and increase of the effective inductance and capacitance. This feature is used for miniaturization. The designed filter has a compact size (6.82x8.3) mmÂČ with a low insertion loss of -0.1 dB and a good return loss of -36 dB. The simulation results are realized using the (computer simulation technology) CST Microwave software

    Polymorphisme de l’apolipoprotĂ©ine E dans la population du nord du Maroc: frĂ©quence et influence sur les paramĂštres lipidiques

    Introduction: L'objectif de ce travail est de déterminer les fréquences alléliques et génotypiques des sites polymorphes situés dans le gÚne de l'apolipoprotéine E (apo E) ainsi que leur impact sur les paramÚtres cliniques et lipidiques dans un échantillon de la population du nord du Maroc cliniquement diagnostiqué ADH. Méthodes: Le génotype de l'apo E a été analysé par séquençage direct chez 46 patients cliniquement diagnostiqués ADH selon les critÚres standards. Résultats: Les fréquences des allÚles epsilon 3, epsilon 2 et epsilon 4 ont été respectivement 78.3%, 2.2% et 19.6%. La fréquence de l'allÚle epsilon 4 est trÚs élevée chez la population du nord du Maroc en comparaison avec les populations des autres régions marocaines. Elle est similaire à celle rapportée dans les pays de l'Europe du nord. Les taux du cholestérol total, du cholestérol LDL ainsi que la présence des xanthomes et les maladies cardiovasculaires ne différent pas entre les génotypes de l'apoE. En revanche, les résultats ont montré une influence de l'allÚle epsilon4 sur le taux des triglycérides chez les sujets obÚses. Conclusion: Le génotype de l'apoE ne peut expliquer le phénotype clinique et biochimique présenté par des patients du Nord du Maroc cliniquement diagnostiqués ADH.Key words: ParamÚtres lipidiques, Maladies cardiovasculaires, Polymorphisme génétique, GÚne APO

    Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi species associated with rhizosphere of Phoenix dactylifera L. in Morocco

    A survey of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) diversity and date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) tree root colonization in arid areas was undertaken in ten palm groves located along the Ziz valley (Tafilalet, south-west Morocco). The frequency and the mean intensity of root colonization reached 72 and 43% respectively and the spore population varied from 238 to 1840 spores/10g of soil. The AMF colonization levels of field date palm roots were found to be negatively correlated with soil phosphorus content (r2 =-0,64). A total of ten AMF species were trapped from the 10 studied sites with a population of 4 to 7 species per sites. The isolated species included: Glomus mosseae, G. fasciculatum, G. constrictum, G. aggregatum, G. macrocarpum, 3 undescribed species of Acaulospora and two of Scutellospora genera. The latter two species were trapped only at the second trapping cycle.Keywords: AMF, diversity, Morocco, palm grove, Phoenix dactylifer,

    Parametrical models have become an important mathematical tool for free form curves and surface description. they allow the use of state-of-the-art computers to do the various processing and analysis with respect to shape (calculation of the volume and surface area, vibration analysis, NC programs preparation, etc.). Without these models, the current product design and manufacturing would be difficult. The paper presents an analysis study for the most important parametrical models of free form curves and surfaces description (Ferguson, Coons, Bezier, B-Spline and rational models). Firstly, it emphasises external and mathematical properties of each model. Secondly, it gives the most interesting interfaces between models. Thus the process of complex surface design and manufacturing would be more efficient in view this analysis.     The objective of this work is the study, the design and the optimization of an innovative structure of a network of coupled copper metal lines deposited on the upper surface of a R04003 type substrate of height 0.813 with a ground deformed by slots (DGS). This structure is designed in an optimal configuration for use in the design of narrowband bandpass filter for wireless communication systems (WLAN), the aim of use the defected ground structure is to remove the unwanted harmonics in the rejection band, the simulation results obtained from this structure using CST software show a very high selectivity of the designed filter, a very low level of losses (less than-0.45 dB) with a size overall size of 43.5x34.3 mm

    Application of the JJ-matrix Method to Faddeev-Merkuriev equation: beyond pseudostates

    A version of the JJ-matrix method for solving numerically the three-body Faddeev-Merkuriev differential equations is proposed. This version allows to take into account the full spectrum of the two-body Coulomb subsystem. As a result, a discrete analog of the Lippmann-Schwinger equation is obtained which allows to interpret correctly the three-body wave function in two-body domains. The scheme is applied to calculations of the fully resolved absolute differential cross sections for the He(e,2e)(e,2e)He+^+ and He(e,3e)(e,3e)He++^{++} reactions at small energy and momentum transfers. The results are in good agreement with the experiment both in shape and in absolute value.Comment: 22 pages, 7 figure

    Tumeurs des deux surrĂ©nales. A propos d’un cas

    Les tumeurs surrĂ©naliennes bilatĂ©rales sont rares. Nous rapportons un cas de phĂ©ochromocytome surrĂ©nalien associĂ© Ă  un corticosurrĂ©nalome controlatĂ©ral chez une patiente de 65 ans. L’association d’une hypertension artĂ©rielle Ă  des cĂ©phalĂ©es, sueurs, et palpitations a orientĂ© vers le diagnostic de phĂ©ochromocytome. Le bilan biologique basĂ© sur le dosage urinaire des dĂ©rivĂ©s mĂ©thoxylĂ©s a confirmĂ© ce diagnostic. L’échographie et le scanner ont montrĂ© la prĂ©sence de deux massessurrĂ©naliennes bilatĂ©rales de structure tissulaire. Les deux masses sont discrĂštement rehaussĂ©es aprĂšs injection du produit de contraste. Devant ce tableau clinique, biologique et morphologique, le diagnostic de phĂ©ochromocytome surrĂ©nalien bilatĂ©ral est retenu. Par consĂ©quent unesurrĂ©nalectomie bilatĂ©rale par voie bi-sous-costale a Ă©tĂ© rĂ©alisĂ©e. L’examen anatomopathologique a rĂ©vĂ©lĂ© la coexistence d’un phĂ©ochromocytome sur la piĂšce de surrĂ©nalectomie droite et d’un carcinome corticosurrĂ©nalien sur la piĂšce de surrĂ©nalectomie gauche, ce qui Ă©tait imprĂ©vu. Les suites opĂ©ratoires ont Ă©tĂ© bonnes, sans rĂ©cidive, avec un recul de 4 ans. A la lumiĂšre de cette observation et d’une revue de la littĂ©rature, nous discutons les diffĂ©rentes  caractĂ©ristiques de cetteassociation inhabituelle
