Germination of proso millet (Panicum miliaceum L.) grains trigger biochemical changes that augment bioavailability of flower and its utility for gluten-free dietary foods
ArticleDuring past decade, there has been an active search for new sources and means, such
as biologic modification of raw plant material, to produce bioavailable foods with pre-defined
properties. In this study, we tested whether germination of proso millet (Panicum miliaceum L.)
grains could be used to increase bioavailability of the flower for gluten-free diets (GFD). Our
analysis demonstrated that grains of four selected cultivars had similar germination rates in
different media. However, the pikes of amylolytic and proteinase activities were detected at the
2
nd and 3rd days of germination, whereas the pike of lipase activity was associated with the 4th
day. The highest and the lowest enzymatic activities were detected in grains germinated in whey
and in NaCl, respectively. During germination, cumulative phenolic content increased up to
3.5 times reaching the highest levels by day 5. Based on these data, we produce batches of flour
from grains germinated for 3 days and evaluated its utility in producing non-rising cake and
shortbread pastry dough. Sensory evaluation of the baked products confirmed that flour from
germinated grains could be used for substitution of the wheat flower in the dough. Collectively,
our novel findings demonstrated that biochemically defined germination conditions could be used
to produce proso millet flour with greater digestibility and nutritive value for the development of
new GFD recipes
Use of Articulated Transport Systems in the Mining Industry
The work is devoted to the possibility and prospects of the use of all-wheels drive articulated transport systems in the mining complex. A comparative analysis of the traditional methods of exporting minerals in open pit mining and the method of using active trailed elements are given. The trailer has a load factor several times higher than the same rate for mining dump trucks. The use of an active trailer makes it possible to reduce the mass of the tractor and trailer by almost 40 tons and increase the specific power of the road train. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd
Reconstruction of late Quaternary sedimentary environments at the southern Mendeleev Ridge (Arctic Ocean)
The late Pleistocene history of the Arctic comprised cyclical changes in the extension of land-based ice sheets and sea-ice cover that affected sedimentary environments in the Arctic Ocean. This PhD thesis focuses on sediment records from the Mendeleev Ridge spanning the last 200 ka. Over this time period, variable sedimentation patterns were described and possible implications for reconstruction of glacial/interglacial paleoenvironments were provided. One of the main goals of this study was to identify mineralogical and inorganic-geochemical tracers in marine sediments that could be used for discrimination of sediment provenance and consequently for reconstruction of sediment pathways
Specification of age and stratigraphic position of coal deposits of the Rudnyi Altay Russian part
At detailed studying of coal continental deposit of the Rudnyi Altai Russian part the collection of fossils was collected. On the basis of studying the age interval of deposits from top early up to late Carboniferous was increased, three separate stratigraphic divisions, whichare offered to be considered in the future in a rank of series, are established
Experimental investigation on shock wave diffraction over sharp and curved splitters
Shock wave diffraction occurs when a normal travelling wave passes through a sudden area expansion. Turbulent, compressible, and vortical are the characterising adjectives that describe the flow features, which are slowly smeared out due to the dissipative nature of turbulence. The study of this phenomenon provides insight into several flow structures such as shear layer formation, vortex development, and vortex/shock interaction whose applications include noise control, propulsion or wing aerodynamics. A large amount of research has been carried out in the analysis of shock wave diffraction mainly around sharp wedges, but only few studies have considered rounded corners. This project has the aim to examine and compare the flow features which develop around three different geometries, ramp, symmetric and rounded, with experimental incident shock Mach numbers of 1.31 and 1.59, and Reynolds numbers of 1.08×106 and 1.68×106. Schlieren photography is used to obtain qualitative information about the evolution of the flow field. The results show that ramp and symmetrical wedges with a tip angle of 172° behave in the same manner, which exhibit clear dissimilarities with a curved corner. The flow field evolves more rapidly for a higher incoming Mach number which is also responsible for the development of stronger structures
Economic Performance and Political Choice in Ukraine
In this article the economic performance as a factor that determined the political choice of Ukrainians has been analyzed. It is proven by a panel model that, unlike the countries with developed democracies, a retrospective economic vote in presidential elections was not observed in Ukraine; it turned out to be prospective instead with regard to the last (year 2019) presidential election. The authors presented a set of reasons which could explain such situation: lack of democratic experience, relying on heuristics and emotions, low public mood among the others. It has been demonstrated that Ukrainians’ political choice in 2019 has some consequences for the economy, which may contribute to the loss of a nation’s development guidelines for a certain period of time and subsequent social disappointment

Molecular determinants of drug-specific sensitivity for epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) exon 19 and 20 mutants in non-small cell lung cancer.
We hypothesized that aberrations activating epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) via dimerization would be more sensitive to anti-dimerization agents (e.g., cetuximab). EGFR exon 19 abnormalities (L747_A750del; deletes amino acids LREA) respond to reversible EGFR kinase inhibitors (TKIs). Exon 20 in-frame insertions and/or duplications (codons 767 to 774) and T790M mutations are clinically resistant to reversible/some irreversible TKIs. Their impact on protein function/therapeutic actionability are not fully elucidated. In our study, the index patient with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harbored EGFR D770_P772del_insKG (exon 20). A twenty patient trial (NSCLC cohort) (cetuximab-based regimen) included two participants with EGFR TKI-resistant mutations ((i) exon 20 D770>GY; and (ii) exon 19 LREA plus exon 20 T790M mutations). Structural modeling predicted that EGFR exon 20 anomalies (D770_P772del_insKG and D770>GY), but not T790M mutations, stabilize the active dimer configuration by increasing the interaction between the kinase domains, hence sensitizing to an agent preventing dimerization. Consistent with predictions, the two patients harboring D770_P772del_insKG and D770>GY, respectively, responded to an EGFR antibody (cetuximab)-based regimen; the T790M-bearing patient showed no response to cetuximab combined with erlotinib. In silico modeling merits investigation of its ability to optimize therapeutic selection based on structural/functional implications of different aberrations within the same gene
From BPMN process models to DMN decision models
The interplay between process and decision models plays a crucial role in business process management, as decisions may be based on running processes and affect process outcomes. Often process models include decisions that are encoded through process control flow structures and data flow elements, thus reducing process model maintainability. The Decision Model and Notation (DMN) was proposed to achieve separation of concerns and to possibly complement the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) for designing decisions related to process models. Nevertheless, deriving decision models from process models remains challenging, especially when the same data underlie both process and decision models. In this paper, we explore how and to which extent the data modeled in BPMN processes and used for decision-making may be represented in the corresponding DMN decision models. To this end, we identify a set of patterns that capture possible representations of data in BPMN processes and that can be used to guide the derivation of decision models related to existing process models. Throughout the paper we refer to real-world healthcare processes to show the applicability of the proposed approach
