The effects of a multicomponent training on body composition and functional fitness in breast cancer women patients

    Get PDF
Breast cancer is the most common cancer type between women (IARC & WHO, 2015). Its treatment can lead to various changes in woman’s body reducing their quality of life. Places that promote specific physical activity (PA) for this population are virtually nonexistent. Thus, the aims of this study were to assess the viability of a common PA program for women both healthy and whom suffered from breast cancer, and the effects of a multicomponent training in body composition (BC) and functional fitness (FF) of women with a recent episode of breast cancer.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

La Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia: educación y procesos de constitución identitaria

    Get PDF

OBJECTIVE: To identify factors that lead people to visit a doctor in Brazil and assess differences between socioeconomic groups. METHODS: A cross-sectional study comprising 1,260 subjects aged 15 or more was carried out in southern Brazil. Demographic, socioeconomic, health needs and regular source of care data were analyzed concerning visits to a doctor within two months from the interview. Adjusted prevalence ratios and 95% confidence intervals were calculated using Poisson regression. RESULTS: Adjusted PR showed that women having stressful life events, health insurance, and a regular doctor increased the outcome. A dose-related response was found with self-reported health, and the probability of visiting a doctor increased with health needs. Analysis in the chronic disease group revealed that uneducated lower income subjects had a 62% reduction in the chance of visiting a doctor compared to uneducated higher income ones. However, as it was seen a significant interaction between income and education, years of schooling increased utilization in this group. CONCLUSIONS: Results suggest the existence of health inequity in the poorest group that could be overcome with education. Specific measures reinforcing the importance of having a regular doctor may also improve access in the underserved group.OBJETIVO: Identificar os fatores que levam uma pessoa a consultar o médico no Brasil e avaliar as diferenças entre grupos socioeconômicos.

From a political discourse analysis perspective we will explore the socio historical context, the idea of a university with a regional scope, and the cultural and pedagogical arguments that were at stake. In order to do this, we will first introduce two notions: the idea of the relative structurality in which every discourse emerges and the particular content it assumes. With these elements we will give an account of the emergence and potential stabilization of a set of partial identifications articulated in the process of creation of the university.Fil: Muriete, Raúl Nicolás. Assessment of state-of-the-art models for predicting the remobilisation of radionuclides following the flooding of heavily contaminated areas: the case of Pripyat River floodplain

    Get PDF
The performances of models are assessed to predict the wash-off of radionuclides from contaminated flooded areas. This process should be accounted for in the proper management of the aftermath of a nuclear accident. The contamination of the Pripyat River water following the inundation of a floodplain heavily con taminated by 90Sr and 137Cs of Chernobyl origin is used asthe basisfor modelling. The available experimental evidence demonstrated that remobilisation of radiostrontium is an important process implying a significant secondary radioactive load of water flowing over the contaminated floodplain. On the contrary, there is no em pirical evidence of a similar behaviour for radiocaesium. In general, state-of-the-art models properly predicted the remobilisation of strontium, whereas they significantly overestimated radiocaesium concentrations in wa ter. The necessary model improvements for a more accurate prediction of radiocaesium contamination levels include a reassessment of the values of the model parameters controlling the remobilisation process

Blast fragment impact of angle-ply composite structures for buildings wall protection

This paper investigates the fragment performance of several composite panels for attaching to the inside walls of a building structure. These panels were developed using different types of fiber woven fabrics (W0, W90) combined with distinct layers orientations (angle-ply effect) of L0/0 and L0/15. Aramid, E-glass, and S-glass fiber fabrics impregnated with thermosetting epoxy resin, and a prepreg of Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (HB24) were employed. The panels are subjected to ballistic impact using different fragments under impact velocities in the range of 120 to 420 m/s. In order to measure the energy absorbed by the ballistic panels, the impact velocity and the residual velocity of the fragment were measured with laser chronographs placed before and after the laminated test specimens. The paper demonstrates quantitatively that the angle-ply laminates produced using L0/15 woven fabric orientation presented a higher impact energy absorption, promoting higher reductions on the fragment residual velocity compared to the L0/0 orientations. The laminates produced using UHMWPE fibers (HB24) presented better ballistic properties compared to the other fibers. Furthermore, it was noted that the energy dissipation rate is linearly correlated with the impact velocity and is independent of the fragment geometry.(undefined

Exergoeconomic analysis of an absorption refrigeration and natural gas-fueled diesel power generator cogeneration system

This work presents a thermoeconomic analysis of a cogeneration system using the exhaust gas from a natural gas-fueled diesel power generator as heat source for an ammonia-water absorption refrigeration system. The purpose of the analysis is to obtain both unit exergetic and exergoeconomic costs of the cogeneration system at different load conditions and replacement rates of diesel oil by natural gas. A thermodynamic model of the absorption chiller was developed using the Engineering Equation Solver (EES) software to simulate the exergetic and exergoeconomic cogeneration costs. The data entry for the simulation model included available experimental data from a dual-fuel diesel power generator operating with replacement rates of diesel oil by natural gas of 25%, 50% and 75%, and varying engine load from 10 kW to 30 kW. Other required data was calculations using the GateCycle software, from the available experimental data. The results show that, in general, the cogeneration cold unit exergetic and exergoeconomic costs increases with increasing engine load and decreases with increasing replacement rate of diesel oil by natural gas under the conditions investigated. Operating with 3/4 of the rated engine power and replacing 50% of diesel oil by natural gas, the exergoeconomic cost of the produced power is increased by 75%, and the exergoeconomic cost of the produced cold is decreased by 17%. The electric power unit exergetic and exergoeconomic costs indicate that the replacement of diesel oil by natural gas is feasible in the present considerations for engine operation at medium and high loads

Education and life in common in times of confinement

The article aims at reconstructing some of the problems generated by the time of confinement concerning the connection between education and life in common. More specifically, it reviews the way in which certain shared horizons were disarticulated and how this has an impact on the work of teachers and education in general. In order to advance these objectives, we distinguish three registers in which important transformations have taken place. The first register is institutional, the second is pedagogical and the third is political. In all three, the question of commonality is central.Fil: Barros, Manuel Sebastian.
