Análisis de algunos instrumentos financieros

Los productos derivados, instrumentos financieros cuyo valor deriva de la evolución de los precios de un activo, utilizados en un principio para cubrir pérdidas en las cosechas agrícolas, han ido en aumento para cubrir nuevos riesgos, pero también han sido progresivamente utilizados como elementos de inversión y especulación en los mercados financieros. Una característica de los derivados es su apalancamiento que permite con cantidades pequeños obtener grandes beneficios o pérdidas. La ventaja de utilizar pequeñas cantidades para su adquisición y la desventaja de su riesgo asociado no ha impedido su presencia constante en los mercados, hecho que justifica su análisis. Este trabajo estudia las características de ciertos derivados. El estudio divide a los productos en productos derivados supervisados, en los que se incluye, los futuros, las opciones o los warrants, entre otros, y derivados no supervisados donde se caracterizan los FRAs, Collars, Floors o Swaps además de otros derivados de crédito. Después de ese análisis, el trabajo concluye analizando las condiciones necesarias para la supervivencia de un nuevo derivado.Derivatives are products, instruments, or securities which are derived from another security, cash market, index, or another derivative. Initially, they were used to cover losses in agricultural crops. However, nowadays, they are considered as tools to cover different financial risks. In addition, they are used as investment products and to speculate in the financial markets. A characteristic of the derivatives is their leverage that allows users to obtain large profits or large losses with a minimum investment. The risk associated to leverage has not prevented their growing presence in the financial markets. The increasing use of these products and the current volume of negotiation justify their analysis. This paper studies characteristics of certain derivatives. The study considers two types of products: supervised and unsupervised derivative products. The first type includes derivatives such as futures, options or warrants. The second type considers FRAs, Collars, Floors or Swaps, in addition to other credit derivatives. Spatial entanglement of paired photons generated in cold atomic ensembles

Cold atomic ensembles can mediate the generation of entanglement between pairs of photons. Photons with specific directions of propagation are detected, and the entanglement can reside in any of the degrees of freedom that describe the whole quantum state of the photons: polarization, spatial shape or frequency. We show that the direction of propagation of the generated photons determines the spatial quantum state of the photons and therefore, the amount of entanglement generated. When photons generated in different directions are combined, this spatial distinguishing information can degrade the quantum purity of the polarization or frequency entanglement.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures. Effects of Glyphosate Application on Physiologically Integrated Clones of the Invasive Plant Carpobrotus edulis

[Abstract] Management of invasive alien species is a high priority for biodiversity conservation. Here, we studied the effects of glyphosate application, at 0.06 g/m2 concentration, on physiologically integrated basal and apical ramets of the invasive clonal plant Carpobrotus edulis. Physiological integration allows the transport of resources and other substances between connected ramets in clonal plants. We found a significant reduction of growth and photochemical efficiency both in basal and apical ramets of C. edulis after glyphosate application. Interestingly, we also observed a significant growth reduction in untreated basal ramets when they remained connected to apical ramets treated with glyphosate. This result was interpreted as a cost for basal ramets due to supporting severely stressed apical ramets. Therefore, local application of glyphosate to apical ramets of C. edulis can negatively affect not only their own growth, but also the growth of their interconnected, untreated basal ramets. Our results suggest that glyphosate effectiveness can be maintained when applied only to one part of the clone so that the amount of herbicide used in eradication programs can be greatly reduced, which can minimize the negative impact of chemical herbicides on ecosystems

[Resumen] Durante las últimas décadas, el entorno de los videojuegos y simuladores ha evolucionado de una manera que nadie pudo imaginar, alcanzando un exito sin precedente. Los juegos en los que se incluyen grandes ciudades, simuladores, carreras o incluso trabajos propios de la vida real [1], son aquellos en los que más se extiende la aparición de vehículos, humanos u otros elementos con los cuales el usuario puede interactuar o simplemente disfrutar de la ambientación. Esto es lo que genera la sensación de realidad o inmersión que el usuario busca, haciendo que sea capaz de estar delante de una pantalla conduciendo un vehículo o actuando como si se sintiera en el interior del videojuego. Esta librería es un complemento ideal para dotar al mundo virtual creado de vida propia, añadiendo un sistema sencillo de carreteras y vehículos que las manejará la IA de manera totalmente ajena al desarrollador y al usuario. Se permite de este modo que el desarrollador no tenga que hacerse cargo del tedioso trabajo de preparar un sistema de circulación para su entorno. Por otra parte, el establecer dicho sistema, otorgará al usuario de mayor inmersión en el mundo, es decir, el hecho de que el entorno disponga de vehículos artificiales con vida propia dará una mayor sensación de realismo. El resultado final de este trabajo es una herramienta que se ha denominado Easy Road System o ERS.[Abstract] During the last decades, game developing and simulators had evolved in a way that nobody could have imagined, reaching incredible success. Games that include big cities, races, simulators or even real life jobs [1], are the ones with vehicles IA, humans or many other elements that you can interact with or simply enjoy the enviroment. This is what generates the sensation of reality or inmersion making the user feel as if he is part of the game. This library is an ideal complement for giving the virtual world its own life, adding a simple road and vehicle system that will be handled by the AI in an autonomous way. This allows the developer to avoid the teious work of preparing a system for his environment. On the other hand, establishing this system will give the user a greater inmersion into the world. The fact that the environment has artificial vehicles with their own life, will encourage the user to feel the realism it wanted to. Simulación virtual de una transpaleta y una apliladora eléctrica

El objetivo principal de este proyecto es el modelado y simulación de una apiladora y una transpaleta mediante las técnicas que ofrecen el Diseño Asistido por Computador (CAD) y la realidad virtual. Sobre dicho modelo puede interactuarse de forma que se pueda observar y entender su funcionamiento. La simulación virtual se consigue mediante el lenguaje de programación VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language), que permite la creación de mundos virtuales en tres dimensiones, de tal manera que el usuario interactúa en un entorno semejante a la realidad. Due to diffusive light propagation, the effect of atomic absorption on the light scattered by the sample is almost entirely compensated by atomic fluorescence at low atomic densities. For higher densities, radiation trapping increases the probability of non-radiative decay via atom-wall collisions. Comparative Invasion Ecology of Carpobrotus From Four Continents: Responses to Nutrients and Competition

[Abstract] Two key hypotheses in invasion biology are that certain traits underlie invasiveness in introduced species, and that these traits are selected for during or after introduction. We tested these hypotheses by focusing on two traits likely to confer invasiveness, high increase in growth in response to increase in nutrients and low decrease in growth in response to competition. We compared four species of Carpobrotus that differ in invasiveness, using species from four continents: Africa, Australia, Europe and North America. To test for selection for these traits in Carpobrotus edulis, a highly invasive species, we compared plants from its native range in South Africa to plants from the other three regions, where C. edulis has been introduced. Plants were propagated in a common garden. Offspring were then grown alone with or without added nutrients, and together with another species of Carpobrotus or with the grass Ammophila arenaria (a co-occurring native species in Europe) without added nutrients. Response to nutrients did not differ between species of Carpobrotus, nor was competitive response less negative in more invasive species. However, increase in growth in response to added nutrients was greater in introduced than in native C. edulis. Moreover, fresh mass per ramet at the start of treatments was higher in the two invasive species than in the two non-invasive ones. Este artículo hace un análisis de los procesos administrativos de manufactura desde la revolución industrial hasta la actualidad. Los autores consideran que el conocimiento del desarrollo de los procesos administrativos de manufactura, es un saber que debiera estar presente en la formación de los diseñadores industriales. Tal y cómo podrá observarse, la evolución de la administración de la manufactura no se trata de conocimientos aislados entre sí, por el contrario cada uno de los procesos administrativos de manufactura significa una mejora de su antecesor, o en algunos casos, una visión diferente pero con muchos elementos en común; tal y como sucede con las teorías de Taylor y Ford Se concluye con un análisis sobre la importancia del empoderamiento de todos los actores involucrados en el proceso de administración de la manufactura.This article makes an analysis of the administrative processes of manufacturing since the industrial revolution to the present day The authors consider that the knowIedge of the development of the administrative processes of manufacturing is a knowing that should be present in the formation of industrial designers.
