El votante manipulable en la cultura política mexicana: Un ensayo de aproximación.

    Get PDF

Correlation between site preference of ternary Mn addition in LaAg and superconductivity

The results of an extensive investigation of structure, surface morphology, composition and the superconducting-normal phase diagram of a new unconventional superconductor LaAg1-cMnc with nominal composition c = 0.0, 0.025, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3, reveal the following. The alloys with c = 0, 0.025 and 0.05 are essentially single phase alloys with the actual Mn concentration, x, same as the nominal one, i.e., c = x, whereas in the alloys with c = 0.1, 0.2 and 0.3, the actual Mn concentration of the majority phase (crystalline grains) is x = 0.050(1), 0.080(1) and 0.100(1), respectively. The ternary Mn addition does not alter the CsCl structure of the parent compound LaAg. Neither a structural phase transition occurs nor a long-range antiferromagnetic order exists at any temperature within the range 1.8K < = T < = 50K in any of the Mn containing alloys. Mn has exclusive La (Ag) site preference in the alloy (alloys) with x = c = 0.025 (x < = 0.05 or c < = 0.1) whereas in the alloy with x = c = 0.05, Mn has essentially no site preference in that all the Mn atoms either occupy the La sites or the Ag sites. In the alloys (alloy) with x < = 0.05 (x = c = 0.025), substitution of Ag (La) by Mn at the Ag (La) sub-lattice sites in LaAg host gives rise to unconventional superconductivity (destroys the conventional phonon-mediated superconductivity prevalent in the parent LaAg compound).Comment: The manuscript has 25 pages that include the text, 2 Tables and 12 Figures. The manuscript contains unpublished results which are of paramount interest to the Condensed Matter Physics Community at large and particularly to those engaged in the pursuit of research in Unconventional Superconductivit

© 2017, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.Variations in magnetic properties of the heavy-fermion YbNi2 alloy when milled in a high energy ball milling system have been investigated. The ferromagnetic transition (TC = 10.4 K) in the initial sample almost vanishes after milling, which leads to the appearance of a magnetic transition at T* = 3.2 K in nanocrystallites. Before milling, processes of spin–lattice relaxation of the Orbach–Aminov type with the participation of the first excited Stark sublevel of the Yb3+ ion located at 75 K are dominating in the electron spin dynamics in the paramagnetic phase of the alloy. A comparative study of the temperature dependence of the magnetic properties and spectra of electron paramagnetic resonance in poly- and nanocrystalline samples indicates the existence of a magnetic inhomogeneity of the compound arising upon milling

Size-induced superantiferromagnetism with reentrant spin-glass behavior in metallic nanoparticles of TbCu2

An unusual 4f -superantiferromagnetic state characterized by simultaneous antiferromagnetic and spin-glass behaviors induced by particle-size reduction is revealed in metallic nanoparticles (≈ 9 nm) of TbCu 2 . The Néel temperature is 46 K and the glassy freezing is below ≈ 9 K and governed by a critical slowing down process. Neutron diffraction at 1.8 K establishes the superantiferromagnetism. The latter is settled by the nanoparticle moments and the freezing mechanism is provided by the surface spins

Using a quasi-experimental design with 19 health workers (33.7 ± 5.1 years), the importance of physical and cognitive condition and performance when wearing protective equipment with a surgical mask during training situations in significant contexts of military intervention has been analysed. Heart rate and its variability, glucose levels, thermoregulation, explosive strength and perceived effort in specific motor performance tasks (tapping test, tourniquet, ammunition), and cognitive and decisional performance (triage) were measured. The results indicate significant differences (p < 05) depending on the physical condition (blood glucose and explosive strength), gender (explosive strength and tourniquet), smoking habit (perceived effort) and specialty (glucose level) in the study group.

A practical perspective on the potential of rechargeable Mg batteries

    Get PDF
Emerging energy storage systems based on abundant and cost-effective materials are key to overcome the global energy and climate crisis of the 21st century. Rechargeable Magnesium Batteries (RMB), based on Earth-abundant magnesium, can provide a cheap and environmentally responsible alternative to the benchmark Li-ion technology, especially for large energy storage applications. Currently, RMB technology is the subject of intense research efforts at laboratory scale. However, these emerging approaches must be placed in a real-world perspective to ensure that they satisfy key technological requirements. In an attempt to bridge the gap between laboratory advancements and industrial development demands, herein, we report the first non-aqueous multilayer RMB pouch cell prototypes and propose a roadmap for a new advanced RMB chemistry. Through this work, we aim to show the great unrealized potential of RMBs

A European study on alcohol and drug use among young drivers : The TEND by night study design and methodology

Background. Young individuals are the age group with the highest risk of car accidents. One of main explanations relies on the use of psychoactive substances (alcohol, illegal and medicinal drugs), which are known to be major risk factors of road accidents, and whose consumption is almost universally more common among younger drivers. Although the correlation between psychoactive substances use and decrease in driving performance has been established in controlled experimental or laboratory settings, few studies were conducted in naturalistic circumstances. The TEND by Night project has been designed to evaluate the relationship between driving performance and psychoactive substances assumption in young drivers enrolled at typical places of consumption. Methods/Design. The TEND by Night project, endorsed by the European Commission, is a multidisciplinary, multi-centric, cross-sectional study conducted in six European countries (Italy, Belgium/Netherlands, Bulgaria, Spain, Poland and Latvia). The study population consists of 5000 young drivers aged 16-34 years, attending recreational sites during weekend nights. The intervention is based on the portal survey technique and includes several steps at the entrance and exit of selected sites, including the administration of semi-structured questionnaires, breath alcohol test, several drug assumption test, and measurement of the reaction time using a driving simulator. The main outcome is the difference in reaction time between the entrance and exit of the recreation site, and its correlation with psychoactive substances use. As a secondary outcome it will be explored the relationship between reaction time difference and the amount of consumption of each substance. All analyses will be multivariate. Discussion. The project methodology should provide some relevant advantages over traditional survey systems. The main strengths of the study include the large and multicentric sample, the objective measurement of substance assumption (which is typically self-reported), the application of a portal survey technique and the simultaneous evaluation of several psychoactive substances.publishersversionPeer reviewe
