The study aims to analyze how the inventory management for loss control is performed in the context of a supermarket chain located in the city of Ituiutaba/MG. The case study was adopted as the research procedure. For the data survey questionnaires and interviews were used, in addition to the observation of reports and financial statements of the company. The data analysis employed a descriptive approach and content analysis for the interviews and documents considered. The results of the research allowed us to observe that some departments present considerable losses, as is the case of the horticulture, butchery and bakery departments. However, the losses measured by the chain between 2017 and 2021 were below the national indicators disclosed by the Brazilian Supermarket Association. In general, it can be seen that the company uses accounting information for effective loss control. In addition, the employees, together with the commercial director and the loss prevention manager, work on loss control in the quest to achieve the goals and improve the results of inventory management.O estudo tem como objetivo analisar a forma como é realizada a gestão de estoques para controle de perdas, no contexto de uma rede supermercadista localizada no município de Ituiutaba/MG.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to analyze the physical and pulmonary capacities of hospitalized patients with severe coronavirus disease and its correlation with the time of hospitalization and complications involved. METHODS: A total of 54 patients, aged ≥18 years of both sexes, were evaluated 2-4 months after hospital discharge in São Paulo, Brazil. The physical characteristics analyzed were muscle strength, balance, flexibility, and pulmonary function. The K-means cluster algorithm was used to identify patients with similar physical and pulmonary capacities, related to the time of hospitalization. RESULTS: Two clusters were derived using the K-means algorithm. Patients allocated in cluster 1 had fewer days of hospitalization, intensive care, and intubation than those in cluster 2, which reflected a better physical performance, strength, balance, and pulmonary condition, even 2-4 months after discharge. Days of hospitalization were inversely related to muscle strength, physical performance, and lung function: hand grip D (r=−0.28, p=0.04), Short Physical Performance Battery score (r=−0.28, p=0.03), and forced vital capacity (r=−0.29, p=0.03). CONCLUSION: Patients with a longer hospitalization time and complications progressed with greater loss of physical and pulmonary capacities

To describe a novel polymorphism in the γD-crystallin (CRYGD) gene in a Brazilian family with congenital cataract. A Brazilian four-generation family was analyzed. The proband had bilateral lamellar cataract and the phenotypes were classified by slit lamp examination. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood and coding regions and intron/exon boundaries of the αA-crystallin (CRYAA), γC-crystallin (CRYGC), and CRYGD genes were amplified by polymerase chain reaction and directly sequenced. Sequencing of the coding regions of CRYGD showed the presence of a heterozygous A→G transversion at c.401 position, which results in the substitution of a tyrosine to a cysteine (Y134C). The polymorphism was identified in three individuals, two affected and one unaffected. A novel rare variant in CRYGD (Y134C) was detected in a Brazilian family with congenital cataract. Because there is no segregation between the substitution and the phenotypes in this family, other genetic alterations are likely to be present.172207-1

The foliar fertilization assists programs in order to obtain higher yields, however, it is essential to know the ideal number of plants to be sampled. The study aimed to determine in commercial coffee plantations, subjected to two water regimes, the number of plants to be sampled and estimate the sample error for the diagnosis of nutritional status of that culture. The work consisted of two studies where samples of leaves were collected in rainfed and irrigated farming. For both studies the completely randomized design, with four treatments and five repetitions that consisted of leaf collection in 5, 10, 20 and 40 coffee plants per sampling unit was used. So to keep the sampling error below 10 % for the macronutrient, leaf sampling five composite samples at 10 and 20 plants per sampling unit under irrigated and rainfed conditions, respectively, is sufficient. As for the content of micronutrients collecting 20 plants in systems except Cu and Mn requiring higher sampling five composite samples of 40 plants in rainfed systems are needed.

Photosynthesis of species of Anibae in response to the exposure to contrasting light environments. Ecophysiological traits and the light environment have implications for the establishment of forest plantations. The aim of this study was to investigate the photosynthetic activity of Aniba canelilla and A. rosaeodora in response to changes in the availability of light in the field. Gas exchange, content of chlorophylls (ICC) and photochemical performance (FV/FM) were measured in leaves acclimated in the shade during 300 days, after in the full sun (28 days) and again in the shade by 28 days. The photosynthesis, ICC and FV/FM of A. canelilla and A. rosaeodora were negatively affected in full sunlight, but the plants recovered when submitted to shade. Photosynthesis, ICC and FV/FM were twice as high in shade plants. Aniba rosaeodora presented photosynthetic performance twice higher than A. canelilla. Differences in photosynthetic responses to light suggest that species could occupy different succession "niches" in enrichment plantation, and plasticity (recovery-mediated) implies acclimatization under variable light environments. The fact that the studied species of Anibae have differences in plasticity for light should be viewed with caution to suggest conventional plantations, but it reinforce the indication for enrichment plantations in forest sites with variations in the availability of light. © 2018 Instituto de Pesquisas Jardim Botanico do Rio de Janeiro.
