En el texto se presenta qué es lo que se entiende por masculinidades desde la perspectiva histórica y después se analiza el contexto de la Nación Moderna, así como el impacto de la educación positivista en busca del ideal del varón moderno, a partir de las diversas expresiones de las identidades masculinas en los estudiantes de la mencionada institución

Fast Fashion in the Age of Global Capitalism

Since the 1980s, the U.S. garment industry has outsourced clothing manufacturing to the global South. Manufacturing is primarily outsourced to the global South because of its weak labor laws and low minimum wage requirements. As a result, customers of U.S. clothing corporations are able to purchase clothes at low costs, but workers in the garment industry in the global South become increasingly impoverished. The influence of celebrities and social media in recent years has encouraged the overconsumption and rapid disposal of clothing, widening the lifestyle gap between consumers in the global North and manufacturers in the global South

Non-Abelian Finite Simple Groups as Homomorphic Images

The purpose of exploring infinite groups in this thesis was to discover homomorphic images of non-abelian finite simple groups. These infinite groups are semi-direct products known as progenitors. The permutation progenitors studied were: 2*8 ∶ 22 ∙ A4, 2*10 ∶ D20, 2*4 ∶ C4, 2*7 ∶ (7 ∶ 6), 3*3 ∶ S3, 2*15 ∶ ((5 × 3) ∶ 2), and 2*20 ∶ A5. When we factored said progenitors by an appropriate number of relations, we produced several original symmetric presentations and constructions of linear groups, other classical groups, and sporadic groups. We have found original symmetric presentations of several important groups, including: PGL2(7), PSL2(8), PSL2(11), PGL2(11), PGL2(13), PSL2(19), PGL2(29), PSL2(41), PSL2(71), J2, U3(4), U3(5), M11, and M22. When solving various extension problems, we are able to identify the isomorphism types of the finite images we discovered. We present proofs of the isomorphism types of the finite images that were found by solving extension problems. The four types of extension problems are Direct Product, Semi-Direct Product, Central Extensions, and Mixed Extensions. We perform double coset enumeration manually and with the support of a computer-based program, Magma, to construct Cayley diagrams of 32 ∶ S3, M11, PSL2(19), PSL2(7), S4, and U3(5) ∶ 2

Pilot Evaluation of OneWorld\u27s Education Sessions on Sexually Transmitted Infections for Adolescents and Young Adults in the South Omaha Community

Background. Rates for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in Douglas County, specifically gonorrhea and chlamydia, are among the highest in the nation. Adolescents and young adults between the ages of 15 and 24 are one of the most at-risk groups for acquiring either STI. Though not fatal itself, gonorrhea and chlamydia can lead to serious complications and physical discomfort in both males and females. Evidence-based and age-appropriate sexual health education has been proven to reduce the risk of STIs. Studies have shown that comprehensive education programs with a focus beyond abstinence are effective in promoting safe sex practices. Aim. This project is a pilot evaluation aimed at identifying the impact on self-efficacy skills and knowledge related to sexual health and use of services of Omaha adolescents and young adults between the ages of 15 and 24 attending OneWorld’s supplemental sexual health education sessions on STIs. Methods. A mixed methods approach which combined a survey and focus groups were used to collect data. The brief survey collected general demographic data and information on levels of comfort with discussing sexual health. Additionally, two focus groups with a total of 21 participants between the ages of 13 and 19 were conducted in OneWorld’s STI educational session. The qualitative data collected were transcribed and coded for common themes. Survey data were analyzed with the use of SPSS to summarize the socio-demographic makeup of the focus group participants. As part of the evaluation, a logic model was created to visualize the resources used, the activities performed, the current outputs of the workshop, and the expected outcomes for the short, intermediate, and long term. Additionally, a brief SWOT analysis was done to facilitate the process of clearly identifying both internal and external factors that impact the workshop the most. Results. Of the 21 participants, about two-thirds were female (76.2%). Almost all self-identified as Hispanic/Latino (95.2%) with the majority being of Mexican, Mexican American, or Chicano/a origin. 90.5% of participants indicated that they often or always agreed to be confident in identifying sources and information for a sexual health concern. Additionally, the following main themes were identified from the focus group component: Information, Barriers, Strengths, and Recommendations. Impact of the project. The pilot evaluation was created as an initial step for further evaluation of the supplemental sexual health education workshops given by OneWorld. Results will also allow its educators to either modify their work based on these initial results or use the pilot evaluation to create a more comprehensive evaluation plan

The growth of the crimes usually is faced in many countries by increasing the budget of the agencies in charge to face the crime and the prison sentences, without obtaining good results. This paper proposes that a proper management does not resolve by itself the phenomenon of the citizen security, but an inadequate management exacerbates the insecurity. This means that the form to manage the security is important. It suggests an approach which understands the citizen security as one more of the assets that the government is obliged to provide to their citizens. Therefore, the proper functioning of the institutions requires collaboration of other agencies; likewise, the public policies designed to provide security must be part of the social policy of the government

Factores de reducción de resistencia para espectros de ductilidad acumulada constante en elementos de concreto reforzado

En la primera etapa de cálculo se utilizaron acelerógramas sintéticos, a partir de los cuales se hicieron estudios preliminares con la finalidad de establecer la influencia de diversos parámetros en los factores de reducción de resistencia para espectros de ductilidad acumulada constante. Conforme lo indica la ecuación (2.25) dichos factores serán denotados RNE en esta tesis. En la segunda etapa de cálculo así como en la etapa de revisión, se emplearon dos familias de acelerógramas reales registrados en la Zona de Lago de Ciudad de México. Los estudios se limitan a acelerógramas de larga duración y banda angosta de frecuencias debido a que el problema asociado a las demandas acumuladas de deformación plástica es particular a este tipo excitaciones sísmicas

WBAN Security Management in Healthcare Enterprise Environments

As healthcare data are pushed online, consumers have raised big concerns on the breach of their personal information. Law and regulations have placed businesses and public organizations under obligations to take actions to prevent such data breaches. Various vulnerabilities have been identified in healthcare enterprise environments, in which the Wireless Body Area Networks (WBAN) remains to be a major vulnerability, which can be easily taken advantage of by determined adversaries. Thus, vulnerabilities of WBAN systems and the effective countermeasure mechanisms to secure WBAN are urgently needed. In this research, first, the architecture of WBAN system has been explored, and the vulnerabilities within the system have been identified and analyzed. After that, issues on existing federal regulations related to WBAN are discussed. Finally, scenarios are described where vulnerabilities, threats, and countermeasures are analyzed
