    Get PDF
The paper presents some commercial ICT (Information and Communication Technology) solutions for increasing workers’ safety in invasive environments (e.g., steel industry, mining, construction, oil and gas rigs, seaports, etc.). It has been pointed to the need to increase safety measures, primarily because of the necessity to protect human lives and health, as well as to increase productivity and reduce the costs, which companies and insurance agencies have to cover in the case of accidents. The article also briefly describes some alternative solutions that have been examined at the level of simulations, in accordance to the actual needs and available resources at the Port of Bar (South Adriatic Sea). This seaport has been operating during the decades in the transitional conditions and it has been permanently faced with the impediments in providing sophisticated and expensive ICT solutions for occupational safety purposes

    Get PDF
The purpose of the paper is to present a conceptual framework of blockchain (BC) deployment in shipping and port management, which encompasses distributed relational database (DB) and crypto-currency payment mechanism as main constructs. The core of the model is TradeLens platform. The document workflow management, financial processes and device connectivity are key scenarios in the proposed framework. The stakeholders play the role of traditional intermediaries in goods, accompanied data, and documents flows, including overall supervision of the processes between end-nodes, that is shippers (consignees) and customers (consumers). The paper identifies some strengthens and frailty of blockchain-based maritime supply chain system and proposes further investigation in this domain, towards better understanding prospective development of blockchain across maritime cluster.Peer Reviewe

The purpose of this study was to determine the professional competence of teachers in improving the learning outcomes of sociology in class X IPS 1 at Kapan State High School and the obstacles faced by Sociology teachers at Kapan Public High School in increasing their professionalism. This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method. Data collection techniques were carried out using observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects of this study were the school principal and sociology teacher. The data analysis technique uses data reduction, compilation, categorization, and conclusions. Based on the results of this study show that teachers at Kapan State High School cannot be said to be professional; this is because, first, the learning process does not have a sociology subject teacher; some teachers are required to teach sociology even though the teacher is not a sociology subject teacher so that the delivery of sociology subjects is not according to the material presented by the teacher. Second, there are learning barriers that do not include the criteria for completeness of KKM in schools due to teachers who are not always in their scientific field in improving learning outcomes, such as teachers having difficulty in dividing teaching time between sociology and geography, lack of professional educators in the field of sociology, and lesson planning. Thus, the results of learning sociology at the Kapan State High School are ineffective. This is because schools still face many obstacles in providing educators who work in the field of sociology

Access to real-time data is critical for process control. Scantech’s GEOSCAN-M elemental analyser has been utilized in the minerals industry for the past two decades in a range of different commodities. Already established for use in the coal and cement industries, commodities such as iron ore, copper, lead zinc, manganese, bauxite and lithium have benefited from the real-time access to elemental composition data on conveyed flows provided by the GEOSCAN. The phosphate industry has also recognized the benefits of the equipment and a number of operators and companies have installed GEOSCANs to provide real-time analysis back to the plant. A Middle Eastern phosphate company, one of the biggest phosphate producers in the region, entered discussions with Scantech regarding the use of a GEOSCAN for analyzing phosphate rock, and underwent a process that included thorough vetting and due diligence, and included test work conducted on samples sent from site to Scantech in Australia. The GEOSCAN-M was installed and commissioned at the Middle Eastern mine in 2017. Initially, the GEOSCAN was intended to be used for grade control, and is currently being used for this purpose, as well as to control downstream processes. Analysis data for a wide range of elements is available in real time allowing for accurate and timely control of ore processing. Please click Additional Files below to see the full abstract

Determination of plutonium temperature using the special trans functions theory

    Get PDF
The problem of estimating plutonium temperature by an iterative procedure based on the special trans functions theory has been studied in some detail. In theory, the differential linear plutonium temperature equation can be effectively reduced to a non-linear functional transcendental equation solvable by special trans functions theory. This approach is practically invariant under the starting plutonium temperature value. This is significant, because the said iterative special trans functions theory does not depend on the password data of the plutonium cargo. Obtained numerical results and graphical simulations confirm the applicability of such approach

Testing mAs Reciprocity Law using a screen-film system and an exposure meter on a diagnostic xray machine

    Get PDF
Reciprocity law states that the relationship between exposure and optical density (OD) should remain constant regardless of the exposure rate. In this experiment two different detectors were used to prove the reciprocity law using an exposure meter detector and a screen-film system. Four different valuesof kVps were used in this experiment which were 40 kVp, 50 kVp, 60 kVp, and 70 kVp. Different values of mAs were used from 1 mAs up to 50 mAs. Other factors used in this experiment were maintained constant such as the distance from focal spot to detector 100 cm and collimator opening 15 cm x 10 cm to make sure all contributions from the surroundings were approximately the same. In this experiment, acceptability range of the reciprocity law used for the screen-film OD was ±5% and acceptability range of the absorbed dose using the exposure meter was ±10%. From the result, it shows that at low kilovoltage which was 40 kV the OD and absorbed dose values disobeyed the reciprocity law, but at high kilovoltage, the OD and linearity value obeyed the reciprocity law

ISKORISTIVI RESURSI MAKARSKE RIVIJERE ZA RAZVOJ SPECIJALIZIRANIH PROIZVODA ZDRAVSTVENOG TURIZMA : Diplomski rad

    Get PDF
Strategija razvoja turizma RH do 2020. kao i Nacionalna strategija razvoja zdravstva Hrvatske 2012.-2020. prepoznaju tri oblika zdravstvenog turizma i to wellness, lječilišni i medicinski turizam. Health tourism includes a large number of specialized treatments and services during travel motivated by a wish to improve health and life quality and it is expected to become the major promoter of tourist travel by 2030. Tourism Development Strategy of the Republic of Croatia, as well as the Croatian National Health Care Strategy 2012-2020 recognize three types of health tourism - wellness, spa and medical tourism. The Makarska Riviera region is traditionally a tourism oriented destination that possesses outstanding natural beauty, favourable climate, safety, competitive prices and a good reputation in general. Poor management and strategic planning, however, called into question the survival and development of health tourism in the mentioned area. In order to improve the development quality of the observed region and its health tourism offer, it is necessary to research its own resources and the current offer, examine the competitive environment, find new ideas and concepts for further actions. A glowing example of quality and good service is the Istria county that, although it still has space for developing, can be taken as a role model for the future development of Makarska Riviera. Creating a basis for further development and bringing new investments into this type of tourism are the necessary means to achieve the desired objective. It is also of great importance to solve the inconsistencies in law, to aim the effort into cooperation of all the parties needed in educating qualified and skilled personnel, and to initiate ownership and market restructuration in different forms of public - private partnership that lead to expansion and deepening of the health tourism offer

The aim of this paper is to point out the possibilities marketing enables as well as the importance of amateur sports club image improvement through the marketing development. There is a positive case, namely the professional club with successful marketing management, and an amateur club that has a chance of improving its own image and financial situation. Therefore it is of essential importance for clubs to start with marketing implementation using web marketing, various media and events to draw attention and thus attract investors. Another significant task is to attract audience and interest of the club fans and also to promote young talents that actually is the primary vision of the club

Developing Higher Berth Productivity: Comparison of Eastern Adriatic Container Terminals

    Get PDF
This paper analyses changes of berth infrastructure and suprastructure by global container terminals (CTs) and by four eastern Adriatic ports in the last decade. The emphasis is on understanding whether CTs at Koper, Trieste, Rijeka and Bar achieved higher berth utilisation and productivity per ship-to-shore (STS) crane and if so, how and whether their development is in line with the global trend in CT berth productivity. On this basis a comparison model of twenty selected global CTs is used for productivity comparison as a first step in the process of analysing subsystem productivity. The study shows that four eastern Adriatic ports made different decisions, but with the same goals in reaction to the increased flow of containers via the Adriatic Sea transport route. Their main goal was to increase berth productivity by controlling the eventual subsystem overcapacity. According to observations, the Port of Koper is running at the subsystem’s upper level, while CTs in Trieste, Rijeka and Bar operate with certain degree of berth infrastructural, and suprastructural overcapacity.</p
